First Fill Today!

Recommended Posts

Here is how my Surgeon did it.

Banded 1/31.

1st week, 3 days Clear liquids, then 4 days heavier liquids. Able to lift (exercise) and soak after 1 week.

2nd and 3rd week, soft foods (mushies)

4th week, solid foods

Filled today, exactly 4 weeks post op. 4cc in a 11cc band. Had me drink Water before I could leave.

Liquids again for 24 hrs.

Then, 1 cc per month thereafter, if needed.

He did emphasize that procedures are vastly different between men and women.

So now I feel the post-op is behind me and I am entering a new phase.

Yep! This part is much better :) yay real food! Also keep in mind it can take a couple week to really feel the fill so don't get discouraged.

I get my first fill this coming Mon- March 7th and can't wait! I've been eating real food for 3 weeks and am starting to gain weight! I don't like it one bit! I know I have to get better at my portions and need the bands help at this point! My jeans are getting too loose though! :)

I am with you - I had my 1st fill today, and got 4cc's in an 11cc band. My surgeon has me do two days of liquid, 2 days of mushies (which for me is another 2 days of liquid because I cannot "do" mushie texture), 2 days of soft food, then regular diet again. Everything else you said though was the same. The Frankenstein moment with the needle hanging out of my stomach while I drank was wierd at 1st, but ah - it's all part of it, right? I am excited to have made it to this part of the journey!

I got banded on 1/31 as well. Getting my first fill on March 9th. Indeed a new phase - we shall soon start feeling restriction.

Remember, you may not feel your fill right away. It has taken some people up to four weeks to feel their fill.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
