Getting banded March 9th.....a little nervous

Recommended Posts

Hope all March banders are well. I was banded on the 9th an each day has gotten progressively better with today having no pain, no gas, no meds. I was able to sleep some on my belly through the night and it felt marvelous! When is everyone going to start exercising. What has your doctor said? Yesterday i was so hungry was mad, but then I realized I was not getting enough of the liquids I was taking in. So I have been trying to get in enough. I am doing Protein Shakes started with one a day but my doc says I should have 3.. Up to on and a half. Take care all and let's gt this weight behind us.

I was banded on 3/4! I'm very excited. It has gotten much easier everyday. I'm only a little over a week out, but I know right quick when I don't get my liquids. I am on blended foods and protien shakes. Started them yesterday...never new tuna and cottage cheese could taste so good. I was on protien shakes on day 3, so it wasn't too bad. The chicken broth was not good for me, yuck! But I survived and am very excited to see lots of fellow recent bandees to share with!! Good luck to you all!

Hi Starzz & Lady, glad to see you doing well. I'm thinking about starting my Protein shakes earlier than my doctor said. I'm not suppose to start them until Tuesday, but I'm really needing something more than broth and Clear Liquids. I feel like I am starving.

I'm really looking forward to tuna and cottage cheese in a week or so, Lady.

I'm looking forward to sharing this journey with you guys.

Sarabi

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
