goodbye to the 300s...hopefully forever!

Recommended Posts

Got on the scale tonight and discovered I was at 298! Woohoo! I've been very excited about getting under 300 lbs. and had set 299 as my "mini goal"; very exciting to actually surpass my mini goal.

And, to think, I ate a couple of Cookies this morning. I guess the key thing is that I stopped at two; that never happened back in the pre-op days. :)

I'm sure a lot of people who were never "super morbidly obese" (which is what I was at 372 lbs) would still feel huge at 298 lbs. For me, as someone who weighed 300+ even in junior high and can't remember what it was like to ever weigh less, any number that starts with a 2 sounds fantastic! :D

I'm not sure what to set for my next "mini goal". At first I was going to shoot for 250, but I think my weight loss will probably be a lot slower at this point and I don't want to get discouraged if it takes me a long time to get there. So, I'll aim for 270 first. Somehow it seems a lot more obtainable to get to 250 in baby steps. :D

That is soooo WONDERFUL Quakergirl!

It must feel remarkable to reach a goal that you haven't seen as an adult. I can't wait to have that feeling.

Keep up the excellent work!

Quakergirl, way to go!!!! ;-)

When I dropped below 250 last month I was so excited - it is the first time in 12 years that I have been this thin. I know how those numbers starting in 2 and 3 are hard on a person. I was up to 320 a while back and that 3 at the beginning was killing me emotionally... I started this jouney in the 2s but only by a hair (299.5 LOL).

I am looking forward (one of these days) to being in the one hundred and somethings - I know I will be kicking up major happy dances when that day comes (I will be minus 100 pounds then)!!!! I've promised myself a new iMac on that day - it helps to keep me motivated. Do you have any treats in store for yourself as you reach your mini-goals?

I SOOOO hear you on this milestone, Quakergirl!! :D :D :D :D!!

It was a huge deal for me, too, having been over 300 since I was 24 (except for a short, Opti-fast-related drop at 28). I was over 350 at my highest--I don't know how much over since they didn't bother weighing me before my younger daughter was born. :)

This time, for the first time, I truly believe the 300s are behind me for good. You too!!

Congratulations!!!!

Congrats , yes these mile stones are really a great pepper upper!

It also feels great to shop for new clothes and to be able to tighten the belt up one notch. Being able to shop for hours without running out of breath etc etc :)

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. :)

I agree, leo, about those little milestones too. It's a great feeling to be able to go up stairs without getting winded and walk the mall without my feet aching afterwards!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
