Right side pain - please respond!

Recommended Posts

I am so so happy with my results with lap band.. have lost 62 pounds since my surgery on August 9th. I'm on the tighest adjustment now. I'm having severe right side pain.. under my breast and ribs on right side. Yes I've been tested and looked at for gallstones already.. anyone else having this problem? Doc says its just from my port.. but its been months.. and it hurts alot.. all the time.

Also - after the final adjustment - has anyone had more problems eating? I throw up alot more.. even though I don't beleive I'm overeating..

When I had the pain you are describing, they removed my gallbladder. You said you were already checked for that, though. Did you pull any muscles or overexert yourself? Not sure what else could be in that vicinity. Your port certainly shouldn't hurt you at this point so I'm not sure I agree with the doctor. I hope you find the soucrce of your severe pain, that does concern me.

If you are throwing up each time you eat and not overeating, I would tend to think you are too tight. As long as you are eating slow and the right things, you shouldn't be getting sick like that (especially since you said you're not overeating.) It's funny, certain things if I have them, I immediately feel that dreaded stuck feeling coming on - this past Sunday it happened with cajun shrimp. I realized a little too late they were too dry for me. Up they came after a little agonizing discomfort. I usually don't have any problems at all but I recently had a fill in January and am learning what my limitations are.

I wish you luck with figuring out the pain, that stinks when you're doing so great! If you call your doctor often enough, I'm sure he or he will pay more attention to what is wrong and may figure out the source. Hope you feel better!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
