I cant believe that Livestrong.com suggest I eat 1695 A DAY!! in order to lose 2 lbs a week!!

That is an insane amount of calories!!! That cant be right! If I really need to eat that much just to lose 2lbs a week I am so WAY UNDER like 695 calories under.

Can websites like these really be trusted?

Has anyone used Livestrong.com and followed their recomendations?

If so let me know because if I need to eat that much to lose 2lbs a week then Hey I'm All For It!

How high did you set your activity level? That might be the reason you're getting a higher Calorie assessment.

I just go in and set my calorie goal manually to whatever I want it.

On fitday mine said 1950 for moderate activity so I set it for low and got 1495 I think. I was thinking the same thing that you are! I would have to work out for 2 hours a day to eat 1950 calories a day.

My calorie budget goes down when I lose weight. I'm wondering if their calories budget is solely based on weight or do you input other numbers that might affect it? My calorie budget right now is 1365 and I weigh 218 pounds.

yes I noticed you do have to put in your activity level, etc. or the caloric numbers will change drastically! Perhaps look at the options again and see if you get a number you think is more realistic :)

Are those calorie counter sites specifically for lap-band patients?

I am on my 6 month Physician Supervised weight loss and she gave me a calorie limit of 1800 and I am losing weight on it. I currently weigh 261 and most days I don't eat that much. I am tracking EVERYTHING through the MyFitnessPal app on my iphone. I am also walking 20 minutes 2 times a day on my breaks at work, logging it and I can either take the deficit or eat more. I am going to conitnue this through the end of the week and may drop my limit to 1600. I am trying to limit my carbs and eating balanced meals. I hope this helps me adjust to life after the band. Oh, my doctor gave me a goal of 5lb a month weight loss which I am passing on this plan.

I lost weight easily on about that level and I was a relative lightweight at a BMI of 36 when I got banded. I am now 135lb, a BMI of 19 and i'm trying for around 1800 a day and STILL losing weight, so I need to increase over that.

But I think you have to find what works for YOUR body - we all have different metabolisms and I think I did/do have a fairly fast and healthy one which really only means I must have eaten like a darn pig before banding to have gotten as fat as I did.

Nonetheless, dont cut calories below what you really have to, the better nourished you are and the more activity you have the energy for, the better your metabolism will be.

I don't think it sounds all that high. If you are obese, then you probably have a really high bmr.

If I eat more than 1200 calories a day, I gain weight. Jachut loses weight at 1800. Everybody is different and that is why those calculators cant be trusted.

You have to track what you are doing, if it is working keep doing it, if not, do something different until you find what works for you.

I asked my dietician this when I went in for my first fill Wednesday....She said a reasonable goal for me was 1200-1400 calories a day....I had read somewhere (*non medical source*) that the body needs 1250 calories a day just to maintain normal function and anything lower than that puts the body into starvation mode....Now how true that is...I don't know.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
