I am already at a stand still and am only 5 months post op and down about 38 pounds. I have approx. 8cc's in a 14 cc band and feel nothing.. zippo.. the big fat goose egg. I can eat just like I did pre band comfortably. Theres a few things I don't tolerate as far as stuckage but I can still eat at least double the normal size plate the nutritionist has in her office. The weight I have lost has been strickly from the pre op and diet on my own since. If I could do this thru diet and exersize over the past 20+ years I would have but I'm not so sure this band has helped at all. I am willing to put in the work but expected a little cooperation from the band.. I'm very discouraged.

It's only been 5 months. You're being too hard on yourself. You have done a great job losing so far. What I have discovered is that the band is possibly 10% and the rest is up to me. Give it time.

I would definitely discuss this with your doctor. It sounds like you need a fill. It takes most people a while to find their "sweet spot." Once you find it, you will not be able to eat large portions and there are some foods that will get stuck no matter how much you chew them. Stay in touch with your doctor and DON'T feel like a failure...the band will work, you're just not at your sweet spot yet.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
