3 weeks Post Op...

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! I'm new here, I was banded on 12/20/10, so I am almost exactly 3 weeks out. I have done very well, however I am still pretty sore, I don't know, for some reason I just thought this surgery would be a walk in the park. Anyway no pain no gain I guess! I have lost 22 lbs since my surgery date which I'm told is great.

I am struggling with a couple things tho and hope that someone can shed some light on this for me.

1) I am trying so hard to get my Water in but just never seem to get more than 30-36 oz a day in so about 1/2 of what I should be consuming. Any suggestions there?

2) I am still on mushy foods until my 6 week appointment and I tell ya I am struggling here big time because NOTHING sounds good to me. Pretty much all I am doing is eating Soup thru the day and then I will try to get some fish or chicken down for dinner. At this point should I only be eating 3 meals a day or eating when I feel hungry??Would a few of you mind giving me a run down of what a days worth of food intake is/was for you at 3 weeks post op?? Any help here would be much appreciated.

I look forward to chatting and getting to know some of your stories and so on. I am happy to share anything about myself with anyone interested, just don't want to bore you all. Well I think that is all for now, look forward to hearing some feed back. Thanks!!! =)

Hi,

I am three weeks post-op too. I have been having a hard time getting my Water in. My post-op diet moves a little differently. This Wednesday I start on a relatively normal diet. I get my Protein in, but my fat intake is too high. I have been eating a lot of egg dishes. I tried chicken yesterday evening, but I shouldn't have worked to reduce the fat. My doctor specified mushy/soft food on the third week. I went for soft foods. I ordered a cookbook for post-op and found a good website for recipes.

http://www.lap-band-surgery-site.com/weight-loss-surgery-recipes.html

I haven't vomited yet, but I have gotten sore from eating. Actually I have been doing pretty well and have not had a lot of pain. I can sleep on my side now. I am constipated. Its been three or four days.

This is what I am eating today,

Breakfast: Skim Milk w/ 2 shots of espresso and sugar free vanilla Syrup, Protein shake, probiotic yogurt.

Lunch: 1/2 half of crab cake, spinach

Dinner: chicken Parmesan

I also got my surgery done in Mexico too. I am keeping up with it all in a food journal on my iphone.

Good luck to the both of us.

Hello there,

I also had my band fitted three weeks ago on 11/20/10 and could not cope with the "what you can suck through a straw" is ok as long as it isn't melted chocolate etc. I made my own Soups but ate them a little thicker than watery like which satisfied me better.

I know this is not a quick fix but I am struggling already. They say that this does not work on 10% of people but I don't believe that. I think the people it does not work on are the people who are still eating fattening foods. After all you can easily eat say full fat tubs of ready made custard and ice cream. Alot of it belongs in our heads. I have to go back to my doctor in a couple of weeks time to have my band tightened for the first time. The other thing we have to do is to change our lives and life style. I am going to start swimming in a couple of weeks time and go from there. See how I feel, maybe take on a bit more excercise. I want to lose weight to change my life. I hate being fat.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
