Oh no I'm sorry. Call your doctor?

Are you eating it all really slowly.. and only like 1/4 cup of it? But still I'd call your doctor

Hi,

Do you know if your surgeon put Fluid in your band at the time of surgery? (it seems like some of the people that have this problem right after surgery had a surgeon who put fluid in at the time of surgery) If so, maybe they need to remove it. If not, perhaps you are still swollen and need to stick with liquids for another week. Drink Protein Shakes instead - they might fill you up more.

Best wishes!

Its funny you say that....The same day i got banded when i would drink too fast i would get the hiccups so,....i learned to go real slow ever since.. also you know how you are trying something and you are not sure how it tastes.. you take the smallest lick you can ever take.... well thats me.. and then about the third lick...there she blows... i have to walk around with a barf bag....

Im thinking that maybe he did because last week i went in for a fever and the dietitian made a statement saying...he may have to remove some of the fluid.. but i didnt think anything about it cause they arnt suppose too

Oh that's terrible. sad.gif

I was banded on the 6th Dec and have 2cc in my band and didn't have any of the difficulties you are experiencing.

I'm able to eat just about anything- but I'm still sticking to mushies and liquids and feel hungry about every 2 hours! I'm also still having the Protein shakes as I like them and they fill me up for a little longer.

I hope you Dr. can fix this asap. It can't be good for your band or you.

Good luck!

ok...I'm at the doctor office & they removed 1.5 cc. The nurse did it...... she states she is not sure how much is in there... I have to sit and wait and see if It comes up again....thanks for all the help....I have my 2 week follow up on Wednesday..so I have to see what the doc says

P.s. since I am still real tender...that needle they use for the Fluid removal hurts...

The amount of Fluid in your band would be in your record from surgery, there is NO way that a prudent nurse would not look that up..seriously.

To find out how much was in there would have been the first thing ..the other is she would have to just aspirate the fluid out with a 10 cc syringe and the answer would have been there.

I was banded Dec 6 and have no fluid in my band, I won't have that added until in January AFTER I have healed..

I wish you LUCK!!

I just don't understand the rationale behind adding Fluid to the band at the time of surgery. Someone said something about avoiding Bandster Hell. Could that be why?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
