Anyone Still Surprised?

Recommended Posts

I read all about this surgery before I had it done. My sister in law had great success with this surgery. I had high hopes. But here I am four months out and 56 pounds down from the start of my journey (including preop diet). Of course I'm eating less and I am making way healthier choices but it's still such a shock to me every week when I step on the scale! I always dread it -- you're not supposed to feel good getting on to a scale, at least I never did. But now I step on expecting defeat but can't do anything but smile when I see the number has gone down again! I don't know why I'm so surprised at this, but it's just such a good feeling knowing that something is finally working for me. I feel better. I look better. I'm more confident and healthier. All because of a little piece of plastic and a new outlook on life! Guess I just felt the need to share my wonderment and happiness with others!! Happy Holidays everyone!!

Summer, I know exactly how you feel. I feel the same way every day. i went in thinking it was my last hope and if it didn't work nothing ever would. I was shocked that it did work and worked quickly. I was very determined but still had my doubts. I am now down 90 lbs since June 1st. My clothes have went from 28's to 16's. Makes me smile everyday. Got rid of all the old clothes, cause I ain't ever going to go back to that weight again! Amazing isn't it?

Happy holidays, to you too! I went into this thinking, oh another downer. She isn't happy with her 56 lbs loss. But, then read the rest of your post and it made me smile, too. You are doing great, and a BIG congratulations are in order. Hoping to see less f us all in the new year. Karen(kll724)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
