Does the fill evaporate?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious, does the fill evaporate? I really thought I was in the "green zone" or perhaps even a little into the "red zone" last month, but now I am feeling like I need a fill. Does the liquid evaporate or why is it that you are ok and then not ok? I'm confused. How do you know when it is enough, but not too much?

Thanks for your help.

It is not supposed to evaporate or dissipate through osmosis.

What probably happening is that the initial shock from the fill caused your stomach to get swollen. Then, over time, it relaxed or shifted.

What Bob said. I don't see how it's possible for liquid in an enclosed system to evaporate.

They also include some fat between your band and stomach. If you shrink that fat the band feels looser.

Mo, I'm in the same boat! 4th fill felt like magic...now I can eat a lot more - can still "feel" it, but it has definitely loosened. Good thing I go back in 2 weeks :) Seems like part of hitting the sweet spot is that it actually lasts for a while. I'm glad my surgeon's fee includes unlimited adjustments for the first 2 years!

Have you seen a lapband in person? If you look a the inside where it meets your stomach you can see the soft silicon balloon folds over itself. I think as the stomach moves (and you loose fat from under the band) liquid moves within the band. Also I think the Fluid can move from the band into the tube. I noticed some restriction (not enough) after my third fill); a month later it is gone.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
