Lapband: The Gift That Keeps on Giving!

Recommended Posts

I have been banded almost 2 years and I still struggle with head hunger. I went from 235 pd to 144pd and have been maintaining for the last year. I do not ever say I cannot have a piece of pie, that is trouble brewing in my mind to be told that I can never have what I love again. I have had no fills and have perfect restriction ( odd bird, I know). I am off all meds and feel like a teenager again. Love these websites to see how everyone else is doing. It is worth every dollar I paid out of pocket to be in my size 8-10's. Good luck everybody!

All I can say is WOW!!!! Congratulations! No fills? Amazing. I will be honest and admit that I "Christian hate" you :) HA! Heard that one a while ago and have been dying to use it  Seriously, though you are a poster child for the band. I agree with you on the food thing. Strict dieting does not work for me and never has. It's a lifestyle change and I will never say never to any food!

Wow, you've done great! I'm finally below 200 as well...199.5 this morning, ha! I hit it a few weeks ago and have floated back up a bit. I was back up to 204 on Monday for my 4th fill :) 3 days later and I'm back down again. Story of my life so far. Hope to start taking some real weight off again moving forward!

I think it's pretty normal to play around with a couple pounds up and down during the process. In the long run the scale will be more down than up for you. I know the feeling of wanting every pound off right now. My weight goes up and down by a pound or two often. This is the reason I try to focus more on the 105 pounds I've lost instead of the 9 I still need to take off. It's a cup half full vs. cup half empty thing.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
