Hi angieboyd,

I'm November 16th too! We should keep in touch. It would be great to have someone to talk to that's going through the same stage that I am. Good luck!

Thanks !

I am looking forward to the next month actually! I am anxious to see what I have to get at the store. I have been trying some different Protein Shakes. From what I have been told my dr requires three sugar free carnation drinks and two meals under 300 calories and some fresh veggies. I drank one of those today and I was amazed at how sweet it tasted for being sugar free!

Jen, that would be great if we can keep in touch. I am excited to find someone that has the same day as I do. Where do u live?

Hi Angie,

I am in Plymouth, MN. Getting a little nervous about the pre-op diet. I have 10 days of Clear Liquids only starting Nov. 6th. It sounds more restrictive than other pre-op diets I've heard of. How about you?

Hi Jen,

I haven't found out for sure, but from what I have been told my pre-op diet is not all liquid. I am sure hoping not! I need something in my tummy! It growls really loud. :) But on a more serious side, if that is what the dr says then I will do it. I go see him on the 25th so then I will know for sure, however I have been told that his is normally three cib drinks a day, two frozen meals under 300 calories and 2 cups of fresh veggies a day.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
