My band has slipped

Recommended Posts

Hi Ive just been told that i need to get my lapband reviewed due to a slippage, has anyone else had to have it done.

I had my band for just over 2 years and lost approx 22 kg but in that time i broke my ankle 4 months after then when that was healed and i was ok i found out i was pregnant. When i was 11 weeks pregnant we took the fuild out.

Now my band has slipped and a bit nervious about going back in and starting all over again.

Hi:

I had a slipped band too. I got my band replaced in July after trying for two months to get it back into position without surgery. Second surgery was easier than the first because they didn't have to mess with the port, so fewer incisions. Pre-op diet was different than with first band. Didn't have to do liquids for ten days like first time. Post-op diet was same as first time because you have to baby the band for a while tummy is healing.

Best wishes to you.

Mine was a small slip, but it was stubborn, and wouldn't move back into position, so I had to have revision surgery. I didn't realize that it had slipped. I started eating more and gaining and went in for a fill. When I went in for a fill my Dr. did a barium swallow where he discovered the slip.

Good luck to you!

Sue

i found out mine had slipped as i wasn't loosing weight and have reflux only slightly but i get it more now. Not sure if it slipped before i fell pregnant or after.

i had the barium swollow also and that showed that it had slipped not sure how much it had slipped though.

i feel like i eat a lot some days and other days i don't eat much as i have reflux.

I have booked in for the revision surgury on the 26th Novemeber so fingers crossed that it is easily fixed!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
