Has anyone postponed a fill due to losing too much weight??

Recommended Posts

I postponed my fill today because I have lost 15lbs already this month. Since April 13th, I have lost a total of 68 lbs and I feel really good. I am not uncomfortable, nothing has ever gotten stuck, and I have never thrown up. I just do not want to push my luck. I still have little restriction, but I am HAPPY... Anyone else feel this way??

I have postponed, but only when I've felt my level of restriction was good. I don't like white-knuckling it.

If you're satisfied, it sounds like you're where you need to be! Your rate of loss is excellent.

Just to be clear: throwing up has nothing to do with losing weight.

There have been times when I would go see my doctor and not have a fill.

What I meant was I have little restriction, but i do not want to have too much restriction-when things have trouble getting or staying down...So far that has never happened to me, so I am afraid to tempt fate!!

If you're comfortable, eating comfortably, and losing at a rate you are happy with then why mess with perfection? Congrats! You've done great!

I've only had two fills and the first did absolutely nothing. The second has lasted me five months and counting, and I've also never thrown up. I make an appointment every month (they're hard to come by) and then cancel and make another. I could possibly use a teeny bit more restriction, but I'm afraid to mess with a good thing. When I can't get through a plateau and am craving pizza, THAT'S when I'll get a fill.

Good luck to you. I'd stay where you are!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
