My 1st fill tomorrow!!

Recommended Posts

I have been working SO hard towards my 1st fill. I have been eating so well, really watching everything that goes in my mouth, I have been running a consistently at least 3x a week with walking and family outings on the weekends. I have dropped 21 lbs since my sugary on 8/3 but I have platued and haven't see it move in 2 weeks. I am SO looking forward to my fill to help me get to where I am seeing a difference with the scale.

Anything I should be prepared for with my 1st fill? My PA told me I need to follow a liquid/mushy diet for 3 days after my 1st fill and then should be good to go.

Hey! Im so excited about my 1st fill too, mine is next tuesday the 7th. You are doing such a great job with the exercise!! Iv just been walking but I platued too last week and just picked up the exercise a little and I dropped another 2 lbs. Im down 25lbs since my surgery on July 30th and I am really hoping I can drop fast after my 1st fill. I had a defill a week after surgery so I sorda know what to expect as far as the needle goes. I was told by a friend not to eat anything before you fill and that I would be on liquids for at least 24 hours after. So my appt is at 3pm so Im going to eat Breakfast in the morning and just liquids until 3pm. My friend said that when she eats before a fill it feels very uncomfortable. not sure if that is how everyone is but the only advice I was given so far

I just got back. When well, it did feel weird I have to say, and she did not numb the area at all. Took a minute for her to find the middle of the port. She pulled out some air and then put in 2cc's. Water went down fine and was told to do full-liquid for 2 days, 1 day of mushys and then good to go.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
