Banded Yesterday...in quiet a bit of pain

Recommended Posts

Hi my name is Jessica. My process for getting my surgery was very fast. I had already done lots of research. My partner had a gastric bypass in 8/2009. She has lost 150 pounds in 1 year. I did not have near as much to loose and I thought the band was more suitable for me. I am so thankful I have her here to support me. Most people I have mentioned my surgery to have said I am not big enough. I realize I am not as big as others but I have been overweight for 10 years and I have not been able to loose it in the past. I saw the difference the weight loss made for my partner and decided that I wanted the same. So here I am!

I started the process only about 45 days ago. I went through True Results and they were really fast and efficient. My surgery was yesterday. I have never had surgery before so perhaps I am being a big baby. I am hurting pretty bad. I feel the pain medicine is barely taking the edge off.

I haven't felt nauseated yet, thank goodness. I have been able to sip water/crystal light all day. I sipped on some broth from a can of chicken noodle Soup. I have run a low fever a couple of times today, nothing over 100 though.

Congrats and hang in there Jessica. First 4-5 days are the worst. I was back to work on day 6 and had no problems. I had alot of gas pain but walking and Gas-X strips were what helped me.

Best of luck to you on your journey.

Pam,

Thank you for the encouragement. I am trying to do a lot of walking and sipping. :) I almost got down my 64 oz of fluids today. That is a lot when you can only sip. I am scared to drink too much at one time cause I am very fearful of being sick. With that said I am probably being too careful....Not sure how much chicken broth to eat at a time either. I kinda got the shakes earlier and assume it was because I needed some food in my system. The chicken broth seemed to do the trick.

Jess

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
