3 days post op. Struggling to eat!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I had my band on Tuesday, and ever since then I am struggling to follow the post op Liquid Protein diet. I am just not hungry, and the thought of the Protein drinks, shakes and Soup make me feel ill!

I know I need to keep up with the diet to ensure I am getting some calories in, and all of the nutritional value, but I am stuggling to do this.

This is making me a little light headed!

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so have you any advice for me?

Thanks,

Jane

I am on the pre diet and am having trouble with it too, maybe change flavors of your shakes?

My surgeon is different from others……I was allowed mushy stuff starting on day 3. You might want to try some fat-free refried Beans – they are still my fav! Add a little cheddar cheese and it’s a delis meal. Also – if you just can’t eat, just make sure that you are drinking fluids! You can go a long time without food, but not without fluids.

You are having a hard time eating now due to swelling from your surgery. This gives you a sensation of feeling full.

Don't worry about not eating enough now. This feeling will pass in a few days and you will be able to get back to your diet.

Just try and make sure to drink enough to keep yourself hydrated.

I was the exact same way. I had a hard time "eating" for over a week. I didn't start to feel better until I was able to up the amount of Protein.< /p>

I had the exact same problem! Ive actually lost 28 lbs in 3 weeks since beginning my 2 week pre op diet (I'm now 1 week post op). I feel like I'd rather not eat than eat something that I find unappetizing. Even Soups and purees have begun to turn my stomach. I do my best to force somethng down in me even though it may not be much.

Yup ! Same here... I dont really like sweet foods so the Protein shakes were a nightmare after surgery too!

That being said, I'm 6 weeks out now & still no hunger... hope you're like me !!

I just drank lots of Water and waited until I could drink coffee shakes with Ice - less sweet :)

Rach.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
