Need advice ASAP regarding Tricare Prime

Recommended Posts

I have been working with La Jolla Weight Managment and Dr. B and I am scheduled for surgery on 7/14/10 but Tricare Prime declined my authorzation because they needed a refferal submitted from my Primary care provider, so i got the referral from them but they submitted it to Balboa Naval Hospital and they accepted the refferal but I want to do it through La Jolla weight managment for numerous reasons.

Does anyone know how or if i can get Tricare to submit the authorization to LWM instead of Balboa or is there anyway i can just pay like a large copay and have Tricare Prime pay for the rest of it?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated

Thanks,

Devon

i had to change doctors. all you have to do is call tricare and tell them that you would like to change doctors! for me it was immediate. I got my new letter in the mail within days!! it should not be a problem at all!! I had to change clinics because the original clinic i had chosen had a 1 1/2 yr wait list!!!

Yep, just give them a call. They called me when I got approved and asked me if I had a surgeon or if I wanted one of their "center of excellence" surgeons. I got the choice because I'm more than 50 miles from one of their surgeons. But I asked if I decided to not use my surgeon how did I change and they told me to just call in.

Tricare will not pay at a facility without a referral. You'd end up self paying. I had to change hospitals because the one my surgeon usually uses wasn't excepted with Tricare. No problem, though, my surgeon has privileges in most of the hospitals in the area.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
