Gas still 10 days post-op?

Recommended Posts

Alright, how long does this "gas" stuff last. I still have very painful pain in my shoulder that comes and goes. Also have a lower left pain way down in the lower part of my stomach. It comes and goes too. They are both very painful when they are present. I have been walking and up and about when I can stand it. Also I can't eat much, which I know is a good thing, but I've only had about 400 calories today and fill totally full. I'm worried I won't get enough food. I start mushie foods next week, hope I can eat some more by then. I just want to feel healthy and I tire easily now. It has just been 10 days since my band. Other than that no problems with the actual incisions or pain in or around them. Just wondering if any of this is normal. Just need some reasurring. Thanks:smile2:

Its prolly no longer gas pains. Did you get a hital herina fixed? My doctor explained it to me, but from surgery you get the shoulder pain. I am a month post op and I still get the shoulder/neck pain. Its horrible! I cant wait for it to go away. I wasnt eating much the first 2 weeks after surgery, you will be hungry soon. Promise lol. The pain in your lower stomach is prolly from the port that is attatched to the muscle. I also randomly still get that pain. Still healing I guess :-)

I'm 5 months postop, and I still get shoulder pain, about twice a week or so. My doctor told me today that it's an indicator of fullness, that the gas from the pouch heads to the shoulder. More reason to eat slower and stop immediately when I get the notion!

Thanks for your help Sawyer and Nean. Just looking for some answers. This morning - no pain and I feel great. Just hope it continues so I can get some things done. I was really in pain yesterday and it kind of scared me. I put some heat on the lower pain and maybe that helped. Thanks again

I had that pain for about 2 1/2 weeks after op, and I still get twinges once in awhile.

The shoulder stuff -- my doctor said I could get that (he called it referral pain) whenever I eat too fast or too much. That is a place I feel the fullness. The majority of that went away at about week 3 though.

The lower (and really low) left side is gas and Constipation, according to the doc. I went in for my post op at week 2 and he pulled me off Slim Fast and put me on mushies as he felt I might be somewhat lactose intolerant. I also use Gas X strips whenever I start to get the feeling and it does go away fairly quickly.

That's my experience, anyways :-). Good luck, congratulations on your surgery, and take care of you!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
