Whew, slowly but surely these months are moving along. I had my 5th monthly appointment yesterday, they were exactly the same as last month LOL.

Insurance requirements sure do make you learn patience!

So in the next month I have to go to a support group as required.

My 6th of 6 monthly appointments is mid July, then the paperwork can be sent to my insurance FINALLY!

My coworker has same insurance and go approved in a week. But the physician is scheduling 2 months in advance, so unless someone cancels and I get lucky, looks like I'm getting banded in October.

It is very tempting to go to a different doctor after I get approval. I know one who is booking a week in advance which means I could get banded in August. I had 2 friends be banded by him, and they are very happy with their bands and experience with him.

But I won't because I want to get it done at Vanderbilt. So hurry up October!

My physician allowed me to book mine early. I didnt have paper work submitted yet. Call and ask to speak with the scheduler, they may allow you to make the appointment.

You never know. You just might end up getting lucky and getting an earlier date. My doctor was also booked 2 months in advance and wouldn't give you a surgery date until insurance approval was in. As luck would have it, I got approved on a Friday and the following Tuesday, the nurse called and said, "How would you like to have your surgery NEXT WEEK?" I will never forget how much I screamed and cried.

Remember, everything happens for a reason. If you are meant to have it earlier, you will. I wouldn't change docs for an earlier date when you've invested so much time with your surgeon and obviously want to stick with him :-)

Good luck and I will keep my fingers crossed that you get in with a very short wait (and if not, that the time flies by!!)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
