Does anybody get an occasional vague pain which kind of feels like a shock?

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow bandsters. I have been having some strange sudden vague pains on my upper obdomen where the lapband is placed I suppose. It comes and goes and somtimes it comes when I make a sudden movement? Is that the lapband? Can anybody feel thier band? It kinds of freaks me out.

I don't get the shocky pain.. but there are times when I feel like I am more acutely aware of my band. Vague is a good word indeed. I shrug it off cause after all there is a foreign body in me:tongue_smilie:

This is where my pain is when it "shocks" me.

Mine is also about 6 inches below the port, but I haven't asked the doc about it. Figured it was gas or something. It's only occasional, but it's a shocking pain that definitely makes me take notice! Hmm...may be asking the doc about this next time. :frown:

I get something like that in my port area as well. It is like a twing or shock kind of felling at the port site. I thought it was just me. Surely its nothing major.

I had the same thing for a few months after surgery. Sharp shooting pains below my port. My doctor said it was most likely the muscle tissue healing from the cuts to the abdomen.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
