You will wake up and say "Oh Thank God I'm alive!" and you will want to know if everything went okay, then you will want to go back to sleep.

Happy band day! It'll be a great day. Please don't stress. Take big cyber ((((((hugs))))) with you and be well!!! Post when you get home, now.

When you get to recovery they will let you wake up. When you can move they will walk you to a chair to sit for a few minutes.

Then they will get you up and help you walk to a room that you have to drink that icky white stuff (berium)sp? and you can see it go down into your tummy.

Then they let you go back and sit in your chair a little longer. When you are ready they will let you go home.

I was in pre-op at 10:30 am and walking out the door very slowly at 2 pm.

Well, not trying to scare you,but I think you must be informed on the ugly side as well, not everyone was fortunate enough to not have any pain. I also had to urinate before leaving. I couldn't perform (of course), so I had to have a cathether done!!!! Lovely huh? I was in so much pain that the cathether didn't even phase me! Yes, I was in pain. Left shoulder pain, port pain, and I felt like a stuffed turkey from all the gas that I had left in me, and they would not let me leave until I finished an entire bottle of Water when I had absolutely no room in my new small little tummy. The moral of this story is....

I loved it!!!! I would do it all over again.

Typical to be nervous day before. I didn't have tummy pain, just tenderness, but I did have a little left shoulder pain that would come and go. I didn't use pain meds after first day home. I guess I'm a tough ol bird, LOL.

You'll do fine and be happy it's over, I wish you the best.

I woke up in recovery MAD AS H*LL! I kept thinking I wish they would just get this over with already!!! Then the nurse said "Terri, you are all done." Wow no pain for me just very thursty. I did have pain when I would try to lay flat though. When they took me to get a x-ray they had to lay me flat and it hurt then (port area) But other than that no real pain. Everyone is different thought.

Like Mrshudson, I couldn't pee after surgery. I went 20 hours before they figured it out that I needed a cath. YUCK!!!!!!!! I had to stay a little longer in hospital because they wanted me to be able to pee on my own before I could leave. 8 hours later it happened and home I went! :) Went back to work the next week!

Like everyone said everybody is different, but don't stress too much. you will be fine.

Good luck

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
