Will I ever stand up straight again?

Recommended Posts

All you Tummy Tuckers!!?? How long after surgery were you able to stand up completly straight! I am almost 2 weeks out and still huanched over a bit! One other question, how long did you wear the compression garment that you got from PS before you changed to a Spanx like garment?

I am having my Tummy Tuck tomorrow and they told me to wear the compression garment 23 hours a day for 4 weeks and then 10 hours a day for another 4 weeks. Do you feel or see a big differance...i know you are still swollen though!? how was the pain...im getting sick to my stomach with nerves about tomorrow!

Hi:

I think I was standing up straight after about two weeks. I had to wear the compression garment 24/7 for the first 4 to 6 weeks and then switched to a Spanx type thing. To be honest, the compression garment was more comfortable than spanx.

Best wishes to you.

Sue

lessofme, Good luck tomorow! I know how you feel about being nervous. I am the biggest baby when it comes to pain. I had a pain ball, a prescription for oxycotin and percocet. To be honest the pain ball was great. I took the oxy 2x a day for 4 days and never touched the percocet. The pain was not bad at all. I think i took the oxy more for the fear of the possible pain. I was never in any agony. I have to say it was much better than i thought it was going to be! My DH always says i make it worse for myself by worrying so much, hate to say it but he was right this time! Wasn't bad at all.

Sue, thanks i was wondering if the Spanx would be any more comfy. it looks like it would be harder to get on. my compression garment has zippers the spanx don't. I am 11 days out and am almost completely standing straight, but i still feel like i am huanched!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
