Since my last fill I have had great restricion most of the day. It's dinner and beyond I'm having trouble with. I eat as much as I can get down for dinner (ussually 4 0z of fish, chicken and a veggie. I am satiisfied after dinner, but it only last about an hour. I usually suck up the hunger for about an hour and have a snack. I might even have one more snack before bed. My calories for the day are fine, but wonder is I can do something about this evening hunger. I even have a light snack late at night sometimes. Any Ideas?

:thumbup:perhaps a small bowl of Soup? sometimes the warmth of the soup or a glass of warm milk helps to get a person to sleep - i know that it works for me. good luck!

I find that a small bowl of high Fiber Cereal seems to help, though I would much rather have a brownie or a dish of ice cream!!!

I started going for another walk after dinner. It is usually 3 1/2 more miles, which makes a total of 5 1/2 for the day. I started doing this because of the hunger thing. It seems to fix it. Many people have more hunger after exercising but for me, it is much less. Maybe give a brisk walk a try??? Hugs!!!!

If your going to snack...do it right and have a cup of greek style yogart with some honey dribbled on top. It has a 16 grams of Protein and hardly any sugar. This usually satisfies me. Best wishes!!!

A snack is fine. Note the emphasis on a snack--not multiple Snacks. Delay it until it's late enough in the evening that you'll be asleep before you need another.

I agree that it should give you a bang for the nutritional buck---a protein-rich snack mid-evening is a good idea.

I agree with the Protein rich snack- I do a Protein Shake and it does the trick.

I have same problem!!!!!!!! I use only 500 calories until 4pm then BOOM!!!!!!!! I cant stop eating after 4pm, something happens to my body that it just craves food and sweets. I talked to my doc about it and he suggested 2 things: 1) Fiber plus bars for sweet tooth which has only 7gm of sugar 2) eat tbsp or two of Peanut Butter which has lot of fat and it tricks our brains in thinking that we are full and cravings go away. Both options are working pretty good for me. Give it a try.............

Your body may be telling you, "Feed me MORE before 4 p.m.!"

Really, if you fall apart in the evening, it may be that you've had too little to eat during the day.

"Feeding" the sugar cravings with fiber plus bars may actually perpetuate them.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
