Allergies and fill's

Recommended Posts

A little history....I had perfect restriction up until December, when things became tight and I had a hard time keeping food down. Up came coffee on my way to work one morning and I decided that I needed to see my doctor. He said my allergies were swelling things up and he took out 0.1 cc. Controlling my allergies and the amount he took out made the band too loose. So I went back and had the 0.1 cc plus another 0.1 cc put back in. Things went good for a couple of weeks and then I (foolishly) changed allergy medicine. I become so restricted that even Water was difficult. I immediately made and appt and had 0.25 cc taken out. Now a week later, the band is way too loose again and I feel like I have no restriction.

Does anybody else experience this? And how long should I wait before I go back and get my "drop" back?

I'm experiencing this right now, I think. My allergies are flaring, and I've been seemingly tight. But what I really think is going on is that the very thick mucus is obstructing my recently-filled (and therefore a tad bit swollen) banded stomach.

I've found that taking plain guaifenesin (plain Robitussin or Mucinex) helps tremendously with this problem. I have not had to go for an unfill...but on days when I forget to take it, I do have real difficulties.

I'd check with your doctor about this--it's worth a shot.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
