Sudden period tightness

Recommended Posts

I've been banded over a year and never really had any probs aside from being a super slow loser. Now, all of a sudden a day before my period started, I got really tight and PBd my dinner last night after a handfull of bites. today, was able to eat maybe half a salad with chicken it before feeling like I was going to pb(didn't, just was slimy for an hour). tonight for dinner, had a couple bites of chicken and pbd 3 times. now my esophogus feels like it's burning up. can't do more than sip Water, hot Water is a little better.

has this happened to anyone else? does it go away or should try and get an emergency unfill? its the weekend, and i really don't think i'll reach my fill doc till after the weekend.

any help, even some comforting words would be so welcome right now!

Yeah, its happened to me before. For me it was tuna. All of the sudden I couldn't eat the stuff. Try a different Protein. At least during your period. My band is funny, it changes what it likes and doesn't like pretty regularly. But yeah, the period changes weren't always an issue for me, and then BAM, fussy period band.

Hang in there!

I'm tighter just before my period, too--and when I'm ovulating. I guess my stomach's estrogen-sensitive :)

I'm very tight just before my period and ovulation. I have a lot of Water retention at these times which causes tissue swelling. It causes swelling of the stoma just like it causes bloating and tight clothes. Sure makes it hard to eat anything at these times

thanks for answering guys... i've also had a bit of a sore throat the last few days, so I might be coming down with something. it's probably the combo of my rag and the starting of a cold that's messing me up right now.

i'm going to stick with Soups, Protein drinks and yogurt for a couple days. it'll probably do me a bit of good and maybe jumpstart my weight loss again... hopefully :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
