Sore/Tight feeling port

Recommended Posts

I was banded 7 months ago and have lost about 110 pounds since then. It has been an enormous success so far. (185 down from 295)

That being said, recently I've been feeling this weird, "tight" kind of pressure feeling at my port sight. I've been feeling it for about 3 or 4 days now. It doesn't necessarily hurt though sometimes it aches a little bit. It's a fairly constant feeling that's slightly more noticeable when I sit down. Like I said, it's more of a pressure/tightness feeling at the site than pain.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know what's going on?

I have the same thing and I have been banded 8 months but have only lost 60 lbs. Sometimes I think it has to do with when I workout. But in the past two weeks I have really noticed it. Where is your port? Mine is right at the bottom of your bra line right in the center. I can really feel it when I touch it and when I do not. Maybe someone will know for us.

I am only 11 days post op and i have this feeling for the past couple of days. before this i felt perfect, no pain at all. then during the weekend it just out of no where became very sore from my port (the right and above my belly button) and around the front of my stomach. it hurts to bend and stretch. it feels like i have done bunch of sit ups.

i got really scared and googled it, most of what i got is that the port is sewn onto a muscle and that its healing and i have probably over worked it.

the only work out i could think of that i did was picking up my 25 lb toddler nephew. i was putting him in and out of the car seat and carrying him quite a bit. it didnt hurt while i did it, but that night it was soo sore.

i feel better thinking thats what is it, but i also can feel something above my port. like i can rub my stomach and feel the port sticking out, then right above it it feels very firm. im not sure what it is, i am assuming its the muscle that its attached to. i pushed on it, but i dont feel any pain or soreness. hmmmm...

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
