Welcome Paul! I logged on just a bit ago. I've gone to one of the Dr. Pinnar's meetings. Was planning on having a doc in VA do my surgery, but he moved to Seattle. I'm having surgery this Mon. but in Maryland, Dr. Greene.

I haven't written much on this site. Read quite a bit. Soooooo much info is out there, here. I've been researching lapband for almost 3 yrs. Finally, moving forward. Lucky enough with my insurance paying the way.

Keep viewing, and glad you're doing the lapband.

Hey Paul,

It's great to have another Y chromosome here at LBT. Where in VA are you? I used to live in Richmond.

I am new here. I got my band in May/2003. I originally lost 75 pounds but since December of 2004 I put about 10 pounds back on, I am so glad I found you guys because I am struggling to stay on track. I have continued in the last 6 months to lose and gain the same 8 pounds over and over again. Just bad food choices, and giving in to children wanting fast food. Anyway I am so glad I found all of you because when I got my band, I had trouble finding much support.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
