Cheated yesterday...

Recommended Posts

I had a half of a piece of pizza yesterday. I haven't eaten ANY bread since June....none of any sort whatsoever. It went down well and was beyond yummy, but after I ate half I felt soooooo guilty I stopped. It's the first time I cheated. It was New Year's eve and pizza was what we had with the kids. I don't think I'll cheat again, and maybe that one time was all I needed...at least I hope so! I just feel awful today still that I cheated. I feel like I let myself down in a way.

It is unrealistic to think we will do everything perfect all the time. Don't dwell to much on a little piece of pizza. Move forward, keep your head up, and todays a new day! Have a happy New Year!

Ooooh! That's it. Your lapband journey is over. You messed up. That's not permitted on this journey! Sorry when you get the lapband in, you automatically are supposed to change your life and become perfect.

Sounds very unrealistic doesn't it? Truth is that's not true. This is a life style change this is NOT an operation to make you stop living. We ALL make mistakes. At our support group meeting we go by the moto "Everything in Moderation." If you can tolerate what you are eating then fine. Just don't do it all of the time. If we go down this path without having a little pleasure once and awhile, we are setting ourselves up for failure. Then it becomes just like any other 'diet' that didn't work for us and put us here in the first place. It's ok. Do not beat yourself up for being human. A half a peice of pizza once and awhile is NOT going to put the weight back on you.

Happy New Year.

Nellie,

Are you on a diet? If so, then yeah you cheated. We all 'cheated' on diets and that's why we're where we are.

The band isn't a diet. We should be able to eat like normal people. No good or bad foods when eaten in moderation.

So you ate half a piece of pizza for New Year's Eve. Even normal weight people would have a slice...or even two. Congratulations on eating in moderation. Move on.

Half of a piece of pizza is not cheating. Hell, half of a whole pizza once in a while is not cheating. Two whole pizzas is cheating.

You have to snap out of the diet mentality or you will continue to torture yourself with guilt. It is ok to eat whatever you want, just keep it to small portions and not every day.

Unless you are on your post op liquids or mushies, you aren't cheating. I eat pizza almost every week. The difference is I eat 1, sometimes 2 slices of a thin crust small pizza instead of 3 of a large regular crust. Pizza is not the enemy, overindulgence is. I eat whatever I want, I just make sure I eat 1200-1500 calories per day and get my Protein grams for the day.

Oh boy, if half a slice of pizza is cheating, then I am subject to being condemned for life..

I realize you are trying to be diligent but you need to live your life too.

I used to beat myself up over "cheating" but not any more.. I realize that I am working towards a healthier life style, but everything in balance.. So give your self some credit in that you were disciplined in your eating and were able to stop when you were full (although I would have had the whole slice).

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
