  1. Today I have managed to get in 40 grams of protein from my morning shake and the rest from food!!!!!!! I am thrilled and hopeful that I can keep it up so I don't have to suffer through 2 or 3 shakes a day. It was also easier to drink today. Hallelujah , there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Keep the faith!

    DFW Area?

In midlothian my surgery is October 19 I'm excited going to Mexico Sent from my SM-G386T using the BariatricPal App
  3. My original date of June 17 had to be cancelled because I failed my stress test, which in turn caused the surgery to be postponed. Everything’s OK now & I officially have a new date! July 22nd awaits! I’m excited, nervous & pumped all at once. The countdown begins!
  4. So as of today I am down 50 POUNDS!!!:cheer2: tomorrow is my 10 weeks surgiversary, and my weight loss includes my 14 pounds preop... I'm so excited that I have reached this milestone. I am almost half way to goal!!! I am loving my sleeve!!! I'm adding picture for the first time so I hope it works!! Thanks for reading!!
  5. I had RNY on March 15th. I lost 10 lbs during my pregnancy-op diet. At my two week check up, I had lost 20 lbs. Since then, I have only lost and additional 6 lbs. (it's been 24 days) it is too early for a stall? Has anyone else experienced a stall so early on?
  6. I don't get banded until monday ( 10/1 ) but I wanted to know of anyone saw a difference in the body about 3 weeks after the surgery. my mom is getting remarried 3 weeks after my surgery and I am a bridesmaid in the wedding. I have already bought the dress for the wedding . I am kind of scared that it won't fit right or that I will have to get alterations done to it because of weight loss .
  7. I just had my surgery July 26th. I lost 10 lbs on the pre-op liquid diet and so far I've only lost 3 lbs since the surgery. I know it hasn't even been a week yet but I'm a little disappointed. I've been walking several times a day and am only able to eat about two ounces at a time. Am I just being too impatient?

  9. Sometimes a shake up to your diet routine gets the scale moving again. Does your ice tea have sugar in it? Congratulations on the 10 pounds, no worries more to come!
  10. Okay guys so I need to share this. I had been in a stall for about a month. I stayed true to my diet. Recorded everything I consumed every single day. Almost always got in my 70-80 grams of protein and 64 oz. of fluids. Never eating more than 2 oz at a time.Treadmill 3 times a week. I go to Hawaii for 10 days, and record nothing, still stay true to my diet as much as possible, but don't know if I got in the protein most days, and definitely not all the fluids. I did still take one shake a day, but I ate less while on vacation. The only thing I decreased substantially was my iced tea intake. I have 32 oz. at home everyday. I only drank tea two times in ten days. All this to say that when I came home, I was 10 lbs. lighter! SO now I'm trying to figure out if it was coincidence, not being on such a strict regimen, decreasing the iced tea, eating food instead of two shakes a day??? I need to figure it out so I can keep it going. I'm happy but also a bit confused because it seems like when I was doing everything right, the scale didn't move, and when I have no way of measuring or eating in the right intervals, I lose 10 pounds? Any thoughts on why the sudden loss?
  11. Hi all! Have just found this site and I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you. I'm asking for a bit of encouragement. I'm 10 days post op from my gastric sleeve surgery. Doing well at getting in my Protein and my fluids but I am so craving something to eat!!! I am not craving a burger or pizza - just something with a little substance. I am scheduled to go back for my first post-op appt with the nurse practitioner on 1/6 but unless they change their usual post-op plan, I will still have another 2 weeks after that of just liquids before moving to "mushy" foods. I know I can do this but it's a challenge for sure! Any suggestions are welcome. I'm still using the protein supplements that I got from the doctor presurgery and do best with the Soups. I bought some whey powder from Walmart but really don't care for the taste of it. I'm thinking I'm going to try the premade shakes and see if I like them better. I have tried the Atkins shakes in the past and liked them ok but they are more expensive. But it will be worth it if it helps me stick to the liquid phase right?
  12. Second day post op and I am not feeling as well as I thought . I slept ok last night but I have shoulder pain felt a little crampy, I am sure it's gas, the nurse said before I left the hospital to keep moving but how much? I walked 10 mins for every hour should I walk more? Any advice is helpful!!!!

    One Year Surgiversary

Wow! U are such an inspiration..I am pre-op..currently a size 18-20. I bought this gorgeous dress in a size 10 the other day..looking at it I thought "there's no way I'll fit into this in a year". But u has given me hope thanks for sharing!!
  16. I am getting the band on 10/12 and I just started my period today and was wondering if anyone out there knows if this will stop the surgery. I sure hope not, I have waited so long for this, and have been on my two week pre-op and everything. I have never had a regular perirod due to my PCOS, but it always seems to come at the most inconvient times. I guess I can thank that to losing 8.4 lbs in 2 weeks...I just don't know what to do and need some help. Thanks in advance!!! Jess

    Stitches

I didn't have any external stitches. I wore steri-strips for ten days after surgery and then after they fell off, the incisions were stuck together. Some surgeons do use external stitches, and you can go to your PCP for removal. Kaiser health group, here in California, gave me a "suture removal kit" after I had a cyst removed last year and I took out my own stitches after 10 days.

    Freedom

Hi Everyone, Right now we have all been celebrating today because it is the 4th of July. This is a day we honor and Celebrate being able to have our freedom. We are so very lucky that we live in a country where we do have a lot of choices. This form is a form for people who are going to be paying for their own surgery and thinking about going to Mexico. For so many of us our insurance will NOT pay for it so that is why we are paying for it--how ever we can figure out a way to do it. Away I am glad that my insurance did not pay--I know that sounds strange to even type it. I would have never found a great group of people for support and made so many life long friends if I would have not gone down this path. The best thing for me was I found a fabulous and wonderful teams of doctors and nurses when I went to Dr. Aceves and his staff :D in Mexicali, Mexico . I never knew that a hospital and doctors treated you like I was treated--the best I have ever been treated in all my life. I was so used to the minimal amount of care I got in the US hospitals. So enjoy your freedom today and maybe you will find a wonderful doctor like I did while making a choice of who is going to do your WLS. Remember put yourself first and NEVER give up on the fact that this can happen for you too! I wish you all the success in the world with your WLS. Anxiety after sleeve

Gastric Bypass (with Hernia Repair, and Gallbladder Removal) on 10/2. I still have tummy pain but besides the 2 bouts (tears) I’ve had, it’s going pretty well. On 10/15, my doctor will let me know if I can have puréed food and I’m really looking forward to it!!

The Day I stopped Feeding the Beast

Between January 2005 and January 2006 I lost 53 Kilos doing the Atkins diet. I've since regained 35 of them. So many diets and soooo many failures. I've made two feeble attempts since then losing and gaining 10 kilos each time. In March this year I decided to go ahead with the band. Good thing was my insurer agreed to pay half. I have to say though that's the cheap part, the surgery to remove all of my excess skin at the end of this is what'll bankrupt me. I started my pre-op diet on May 29th and lost 8 kilos in the two weeks leading up to the surgery. I must take some 'before' photos before I lose too much weight.
