  1. Ah patience - not my strong suit, but I promise to try. This has been much easier than what I had imagined it would be. Thanks for the words of encouragement with the food. Haven't experienced first stuck yet, but I hear it happens to us all, so thanks for the advice. Have a great week! Love your picture!

  2. Hi suzie! im doing alright... just struggling to find time to get some REAL food into me... busy with tafe and work im finding myself living off tuna and protein shakes!!!

i was banded on the 24/06 so just over a month... ive lost 9.5 kgs so far... Dr Stephen Watson was my surgeon but Dr Bowater does my fills. any other questions... let me know :)

  3. Ok my favorite topics first thing in the morning..LOL

PB'ing is technically Productive Burping. This is where you burp and you actually burp and bring stuff up so very similar to throwing up but it happens when you burp.

Sliming...is kind of just that..slime and a bunch of it. You can have a little bit or a lot of fluids build up in your mouth. You can sometimes just spit to get rid of it but other times you have to throw it up and it will be nothing more than slimey slim (no food). It happens after you eat. It could be a sign that you eat too much..everything went down just too much. Once you see it the first time you will know it. It is kind of gross, probably the grossest part of anything we do because of how slimey it is. I hope these descriptions help.

  4. Hey I read your post, and I felt like you were attacked, you just asked a question. To answer your question I didn't cheat on my post op diet but I felt like I could. But if you did cheat, it was that one time and as you said, you learned from it. And as we live our lives we learn from things. Wish you best during this lap band journey, I had my surgery July 12th, right now i'm in the soft foods stage.

  5. I go see the doctor Monday and I do believe then I hope when he schedules me for two more weeks out that is when I will get my first fill! Have you been eating soft foods then? I was suppose to be on full liquids until monday then I would graduate to soft foods, but I was so starving that I couldnt wait any longer I had to eat and so thats what I have been doing, but truely watching my portions. I eat have of what is normal or actually it is probably normal but not to what I use to eat. so far I haven't had problems with anything going down my band yet, but then again I think they try to get you mentally prepared for the band so thats why they have a post opt diet. I just started it a 5 days early from the full liquid to soft foods part.

  6. I have a weird feeling with my band too but I usually get it at night time or just when I first get up. I can go all day feeling pretty good but as soon as it gets late I get pains on the left side of my stomache about an inch to the left and up from my belly button. I keep thinking that its the port that is just floating forward or something (lol), but not sure what it is exactly, but I'm sure its normal. I go to the doctor Monday and then will hopefully schedule out in two weeks a fill. Ive been so hungry that I've started to eat some food which I'm ok with, but also don't want to be too tempted on eating bad things. I've lost 22 pounds total so far!

  7. Surgery went well, had a hernia repair too. Just still trying to get back in the groove of things. The post op diet is so limitting. Real food just seems so far off. I work out of the house so recovery has been pretty good. Walking to get over this bloated feeling.

  8. Hello Regine, Hows things going for you? I started going to a new weightloss support group at a local hospital. It is great. I realized that alot of feelings I am having is just normal for new weightloss patients. They are so supportive and helpful. I plan going each month. I get my first fill May 20th. I am looking forward to it, I dont have much restriction at this point. I have started keeping a better food journal and the weight has been coming off again. Its shocking how unhealthy I have eaten in the past now that I check all the cal, carb, and protiens in foods. This is defiately not easy like others think

  9. I am doing well. It was fun being there for the kids, and my wife sure loved coming home to dinner and a clean house. How is the looser bench treating you? I have pataued and can eat a ton of food! Trying not to gain any weight right now. Any who, let me know how the batle is going.

  10. What protein shake are you on? I am having the EAS lowcarb drink and thank GOD I only have four more days because it really is starting to make me sick. LOL Can't wait to start real soft foods. Hope I don't over do it since there is no restriction right now since the band isn't inflated at all yet.

Have you lost weight? Right now I am down 11lbs.

  11. Been banded since May 27th.. sometimes I think that many people don't understand how to us Food is so central to our life! It is emotion! So yes.. this is tough. Maybe after we lose alot of weight we can have a bite more... I am a newbe.. a nervous one...

  12. The last time I went in for a fill I should have been at 4ccs but the doctor could only pull out 3. So he put back in a full cc and said next time I come in we will see if I have the 4 in there that should be. This also happened my very first fill, when I should of had 3 but he only found 2. So now all I can do is wait to see if we pull out the full 4 next time. I do have to say I know I am not at my sweet spot but I can definetly feel a difference with this last fill. I see I have to chew my food alot more that I had to in the past! As for excercising! In the begining I was on track, really kicking butt! I have definetly lost motivation. I need to get back on the band wagon so to say haha : ) have a great week

  13. I go in for my first fill on Monday the 13th. I am glad to get it done because it is too easy to just eat like I used to, I mean the quantity of each meal. It almost seems like I was able to loose when I was drinking protein shakes and no food and now the weight loss has slowed considerably. I still try to only drink a shake for breakfast and add frozen fruit to the blender. It does help to read that other May banders losses are comparable to mine.

Hope you get your fill soon.

  14. Hey Carrie! My summer's been great so far. I've overcome my plateu and have officially lost 100 lbs. I feel so great. I went to my doc 6 weeks ago and she gave me a fill that put me at my "sweet spot" and since that time i've lost 10 lbs.

I had a great 4th of July. I went to my mom's house in Allegan, MI and we spent the whole time at the beach. It was great!

As for you the reason why you are probably continuously getting stuck is because you are upchucking (for lack of a better word) too much and the area has become inflamed. Have you tried going on a liquid diet for a week or so (while you heal) and then tried going back to regular foods? How many cc's do you have?I notice that humidity plays into things alot. on those hot and humid days I have a very hard time keeping food down.

  15. Need advice. Had the lap band 1/28/10 but still having trouble with eating. Everything seams to want to come up with a lot of saliva if I eat before about 5 or 6 in the evening. Then I can eat a small amount of food but still have to be careful. Food seems to get stuck just above the band. Any suggestions?

  16. mterry-

It happens. Dont beat yourself up. Just remember, the band is just a tool. You must change your thought process about food. I had to WORK for EVERY pound lost. Its a 2nd job, but with an amazing payoff! Keep it up andknow that it didnt take overnight to get heavy and it wont take overnight to get thin :) Good luck!

  17. Yes Judy! Alaska was awesome! At first I was excited to go and then lost some of my enthusiasm. Then when we reached Seattle WA, I got excited again, it was like nothing I had ever imagined!!! The only challenge I had WAS with eating! I could not eat anything hardly, but actually gained 4 lbs on the trip! When Cortizone is released into our bodies from stress sometimes, our stomachs swell, thus tightening the band around it, I think I had a too tight fill also just before I went on the trip, so I threw up a lot, when throwing up, it makes the stomach swell and the band tight, so when I got back from Alaska I went in and had .04 cc taken out, and lost about 6 lbs! So I am back on track now! The food was awesome by the way, what I got to stay down! LOL This month is my one year Bandiversary, I have lost 91 lbs so far and very happy and contented with the band, and I believe I will lose more in the next couple of years. Have fun and be sure to post photos for us to view.

  18. Awe, thats got to be exciteing. =.]

Ouch, that sucks. Eh, feel better! Um no, im not doing well at all, things with my family have been so hetic, I don't have time to watch or monotor, and help when I eat. Ive been so bad with food the last month. Im pretty sure ive gained back plus some. =./ Eh, im not going to give up yet though. This year has not been my year lol. I hope your surgery goes well though, maybe you will lose a couple extra cause of it =.]. My mom lost weight after she got hers out lol. You never know it could be a plus. =.]

  19. How are you doing Marw?

Georgia weather is very nice lately. It's cooler in the afternoons which make it very pleasant to spend some outdoor fun with my five year old son. If we did not have mosquitoes things would be perfect. I feel the same way about my band. It is making life so much easier when it comes to food. I don't have the came desires and caving like I once did. If I eat my food really slowly, I am full within a couple of spoonfuls of whatever I am eating. I am losing several inches all over my body. I go for my second fill on 9-9-10. I am hoping things will really pick up for me then. Keep me posted on your progress.

  20. Returning back to work wasn't bad at all. I took it pretty easy for the 1st two days back. I will tell you that I thought I was going to die on the 1st day, but that was because of my bra. So I'm telling you right now, wearing a bra afterwards may be a painful thing because of the pressure on your upper abdoment. After I "unsnapped", I was a brand new woman. So far so good. I'm on the next food phase and made myself some homemade chicken soup. TASTE LIKE HEAVEN !!!

  21. Well it's been 10 months since I had my surgery.. My weight is 198. I'm very happy with the weight loss. I still vomit alot.. I guess I eat too much, my mind still says yes to food.

  22. day 2 since i had my band, got to make myself eat.the pain is almost gone now. feeling a little tried. but things are getting better. went to an cookout boy let me tell you the smell of all that food really got to me, alli could is drink water.taking my wife to the movies this afternoon

  23. Hey, I was banded by Dr. Hawasli, he's located in St. Clair Shores. I don't feel too different than before the fill. I ate some crackers and spinach dip, not too much, trying to go easy. I think I'm really supposed to stick to liquids for the next 2 days, but oh well. Other posts say if you go easy and be careful, regular food is okay. So far so good. I did get the fuller feeling much faster then before the fill.

  24. Thanks. I am feeling decent but still a bit sore and weak from a lack of food!!! How much have you lost so far? I have lost 9 pounds.

  25. how are you doing so far....i'm so ready for some mushy foods....lol...so tired of liquids already....
