  1. Hi.....26 pounds??? That's excellent!!! CONGRATS. So far I'm only down 14 pounds. This all happened within the first week of being banded. Now I'm kind of just sitting there. I go for my first fill 2/4 so I'm excited about that. I also started going to the gym so that's good too. Right now I can pretty much eat anything. I just do it in small quantities, nothing like I was doing before banding. In the morning, I've been having protein shakes, lunch I have some chicken and dinner maybe a boiled egg with tomatoe. Not such an exciting menu. I've had bread, rice, veggies, pasta (not a lot), as long as I stop when I'm satisfied I haven't had any bad episodes. How about you? What are you eating and how much? Oh...I've made it a habit to serve myself on a small plate.

  2. Hi no date yet for me. The lady who does the auths called me yesterday and asked me to fax her my psyche eval and then she would send it in. so i did that and she said it can take up to two weeks for an answer. i am nervous! keep your fingers crossed! if i get authorized i want to do this at the end of them month since i have a trip planned the third week. how are you? have you been buying your protein drinks and stuff? how have you been prepping? how long are you planning on taking off of work?

  3. Well your supposed to eat every two hours is what my surgeon said. My hubby made me some veggie beef soup and adding lots of broth and putting it through the food processor for me. That's kinda been helping me from being so hungry. I got that isopure protein and to be honest I haven't had it since day 2. Its soo nasty. I'm about to start on my chocolate soy protein. I think I'm healing pretty quickly. I'm able to keep everything down with no nausea. My incisions are not bad anymore except that port one still and now its just the gas pains that are bothering me the most now. When did your surgeon say you can start mushies?

  4. yay i am so excited for you! i am down 6.5 pounds in two days. i am doing these protein shakes from costco for breakfast and lunch and a protein dinner. last night i made chicken breasts and green beans. i was hungry later so i had a spoonful of peanut butter. i am doing this by choice to get a jump start. today i am going to go have sushi for the last time at my favorite restaurant. my man and i are regulars there and have our own chopsticks and everything. boo hoo hoo... 6 more days...

  5. Well my surgery was scheduled at 10:30 and I had to be there at 8:30. When I got there they weighed me and I lost 9 lbs!! Yay! I didn't actually get my surgery until about 1:45 b/c they were running behind. Now I'm going to be honest I thought that my surgery was going to be canceled since they had me on the lc/lf high protein diet and didn't realize how many carbs were in fruits. I drank apple and orange juice had bananas and clementines. I cut out all the pasta, bread and rice but I really thought that fruit was going to mess me up. Well after my surgery my husband talked to my surgeon and he said that i did great on my pre-op and that my liver was so small he didn't even have to move it! Also that saved him an additional 20 mins. So I'm thinking the people before me didnt do as well as i did on my pre-op. today I'm just like you, sore & I'm having those gas pains in my shoulder and I feel like I'm having difficulty breathing. Other than that we're in bandland!

  6. Hey! Thanks for the reply to my post!

I would love to have you as a LBB!

40lbs down in 8 weeks is awesome (was any of that loss from the pre op diet)! What have you been eating? What liquids did you stay on for the 2 weeks post op? I've bought sugar free jello, chicken broth, and Atkins protein shakes so far.

  7. So how are you feeling? I'm still sore where my port is but I have been real great about getting back to normal. I don't return to work until Tuesday, but feel great. I just wanted to check in and compare notes. I'm ready to move on to pureed foods, I'm tired of protein shakes and broth. I hate broth. I really miss pizza! I'm not hungry, but boy do I miss eating normal foods. Take Care!

  8. OK i am glad you are back i have been checking my account regularly. its good that you got to go by yourself lol...!!! My pre op went well. I dont have a pre op diet but i am going to try a little here and there of the high protein. i had a shake this morning but then later had eggs and a hamburger patty.... and i wonder why i need the lap band hahahaaha... so over all it was not so bad it sounds. do you have your own place? is someone helping you? what are you eating? or drinking rather...

  9. Thats great! Well i'm taking my hubby to the autorama car show in dallas during the day and then we're going to dinner (not sure where i just know i'm getting steak!) i'm taking advantage of this high protein diet!! lol. Nothing too special but i feel like you the lap band is my present! Well drive safe and let me know how it goes!

  10. Yes, my liquid diet started yesterday. And I too have found that the Adkins are the best. I had a strawberry one for breakfast. I had an EAS just now...not so good. I would hate to actually say that the Adkins are good...but I think I kinda enjoyed it. I also bought the SlimFast Low Carb protein shakes. I put it in a blender last night with some strawberries...BAD IDEA. I dont know what happened....but after about 2 minutes in my cup, it started changing from a liquid to some sort of solid. haha...it was gross! I am exicted to get home and have dinner bc its Chicken broth...YUMMM...weee.....

  11. On inauguration day I went to a party and probably ate 1700 calories! Then yesterday I only had about 700. Most days I try to eat about 1100.

So I'm eating what I want but just in small amounts. Some days I get in 50 grams of protein, some days I get in 80. I am not super strict with myself because I like to eat and want to be able to eat what I want. I feel like it works for me. What I do NOT do (but did for awhile) is eat a lot of food in one sitting, just because I can. I really limit all my intake to about 1/2 cup of food, no more than a cup. If I'm still wanting more after that, I just stop. Besides, I might PB, so I don't want to eat too much.

I hope this was helpful. Email again if you want!

  12. Hi MyraMack:

I find this whole websit very confusing. I wasn't getting your messages and now I think I know how to find them. Anyway, for some reason I thought you were in CA and at the same Hospital as me. Your in CT, you are probably wondering why I asked if they tried to rescheule your date. Anyway, I got my pre op instructions today. Liquid diet going good, down 12lbs, though I do 2-3 shakes a day and a no carb, protein small meal and the weight has still been coming off. I'm feeling nervous, but mostly about the funeral and how I will feel and all the hugging and stuff. I'm going to do good with my pain meds on that day. Talk to you soon.

  13. yes, they were awesome. I don't regret the surgery at all. I must that this phase is hard (liquids and counting protein).

  14. Man..everytime I get on here and see your beautiful face I am inspired!! I have been on a L O N G plateau!! I had my band so tight I was pbing everything..even liquid..loosened it up and gained 1 pound after 6 weeks which really equates gaining about 7-13 pounds!!! He went in and put half as much back in me and I went to my regular doctor and she said I could stop now..HA! I am on nexium for the reflux I still get and since I suffer from that so bad I am also on ambienCR to help me sleep..but when I get that reflux...any bile or food that hasn't processed starts coming back up and I tell you honestly..you don't want to wake up puking all over yourself like I had been doing!! Now I am adjusting better but I'm still losing quite a bit of hair..I started taking protein supplements and biotin to help alleviate that but not much success there.

  15. My brother liked it! ha. First thing he said. Took my mom a minute to warm up to it, but she liked it too, haha.

Got me some yummy tea! I hadn't thought about gatorade, I'll have to get some of that. I did get some protein bullets from GNC, if I mix them with lemonade they are yummy.

    Are you all packed??

  16. Saw your comment on my page. Looking for down and dirty secrets, lol, j/k. For me it is the exercise, I exercise 6 days a week and obviously reap the benefits from it! I alternate between running a couple miles a day and spending 30-60 minutes on the treadclimber.

But, I've also made HUGE diet changes. Very high protein, no breads, pasta, etc.

    According to your ...

  17. how are you doing? my surgery was the day before thankgiving..its been tough but hopefully the worst is over..I have 3 days left of protein shakes and I am having a hard time getting them down :( hope you are well..

  18. Ooooh, I am so excited for you and everything will go just fine. That is an awesome Christmas gift to give to your self. Two weeks prior to my surgery I was give a list of things I need to purchase before I had my surgery. All my required prescriptions were filled before my surgery and list of foods to eat and vitamins I should take after my procedure. The first week I was told to have clear liquids (broth, protein drinks, and sugar free drinks, popsicles (sugar free), and tea(s) etc. Due to your new band the stomach is very sensitive and swollen. It's not a good idea to think about cheating during your first couple of weeks. It's more mental and I promise you can go an entire week without food. Oh yes purchase so gas-x (extra strength) and Tums for gas. The gas pains will make you think you are having some heart pains, but it's the gas moving around in your body.part1

  19. Ive been doing pretty great lately - just got my third fill! I'm really working with my band a lot more, I think I was resisting the changes in my diet after each fill and I kept pb'ing. I just couldn't believe that chicken was no longer an option, now I can deal! How are you doing? You're getting thinner and thinner in your pics!!! YAY*

  20. well today is day 2 of the protein shakes..thank goodness i can have salads and veggies. i think i'm starting to have caffeine withdraws..my head is starting to hurt!

anyway i'm SO ready for this..i'm very excited!

  21. No fill yet. I am scheduled, again, for next week but depending on what happens this week...I have past on the last 3 fills. I lost 5 lbs last week, but only 8/10s of a lb this week. But, I've been losing consistently 3-4 lbs a week since my surgery on 6/21. Prior to surger I was up to 268lbs. On surgery date, I was 151.4 and am now 223. I weigh in and chart my losses on Sunday. If I don't have a descent loss this week, it might mean I need my first fill. I haven't been hungry and I don't think I am eating any more than I have been. I'm at the gym 3-4 times a week. I do cardio2 times a week and combine cardio and weight training 2 days a week. I find I really love the gym.

I am anxious to lose enough to get out of the 220. We'll see how it goes.

You are doing remarkably well. Keep up the good work. Are you exercising? Are you getting protein from your food or are you doing shakes? I am so happy for you and I know you will hit the ONEderland very soon.

  22. Hi Anna.

That is so cool that you are also scheduled to be banded on 9/17, the same day as me!

Yes, I've started my pre-op diet but NYU is very strict with their diet. You had a few choices for low calorie protein shakes but I chose the Carnation Instant Breakfast (CIB). However, with this diet I only get 5 to 6 CIB shakes per day. Boy, are these shakes getting tiresome. I can also have up to 2 cups of certain veggies like lettuce, spinach, cucumber, onion, tomato, broccoli. cauliflower, carrots, mushrooms, zucchini, string beans, okra, cabbage, asparagus, brussels sprouts, and peppers. I cannot have any corn, peas, potatoes or beans. And no fruit is permitted.

I can also have sugar free (10 calorie) jello and sugar free ice pops. I'm supposed to have 6-8 oz of water/day but haven't been able to drink that much.

My stomach growls all the time and CIB shakes have made me very gassy. This has not been easy for me so far.
