Hello,
I actually saw you post something on another person's page and I was wondering..... I just got banded on 5/20 and I have lost 10 lbs post-op and 6 pre-op so thats 16lbs total. Buuuuuut now I am on puree and for whatever reason have not lost anymore weight!!! I'm super upset about it because I liked stepping on the scale every morning seeing another lbs gone.... any suggestions... I try to get my protein in but its rather hard with the amount of space I have. I have also noticed today that I can eat more than usual... I can't wait to get a fill!!! Thanks for your help! ttyl

Rachel,
Here I am following in your foot steps. I had fill yesterday. 1.3 cc. She tried to give me 1.5 but she felt some restriction and stopped. She said me protein first after mushie stage. That is pretty much what I have been trying to do. How is it going for you? More restriction? I hope you had a good time camping.
I just found out my husband is coming home for a visit at the end of June. I'm so excited!!!!! BUT I didn't want him to see me until December so I could be a new women in a new body. Oh well.

yes, you can eat chicken or at least I could Day 5 post surgery. Of course you can only handle about 1 to 2 oz with some veggies. My nutrionist said this 1/4 to 1/2 cup per meal; eat 2 bites (very small ones) of protein to 1 bite of fruit or vegtable. Eat until you are satisfied not full, only eat for 20 minutes. Follow the 30-20-30 rule. 30 minutes before you eat, stop drinking, eat only for 20 minutes (without drinking), and wait 30 minutes before you drink again. If you feel yourself getting hungry after you eat, wait 60 minutes before you drink again. Only eat 3 times a day.
Hope this helps.

Hey Anya. I am having a MUCH better time now. I have restriction. I am having a hard time eating in the morning, as I've said. My protein shake holds me until lunch time. For lunch I find that I can only eat about a cup of food. This holds me until dinner time. In the evening I feel like I can eat a little more.Great job on the weight loss! With almost 40 lbs gone, I would be surprised if your husband can't tell. It is hard to explain what the tightness felt like. It felt like whatever I swallowed went half way down my throat but then it was stopped by a HUGE bubble of air. Sometimes it did feel like when something gets stuck. I didn't get to see Dr. H. I think they said he was coming in the following day.I can't wait to see him again. I feel more comfortable with him I think. And you are right... he does give better shots. Have you noticed any difference with this new fill? Do you go to any support meetings or do you have any friends that are banded? Keep up the good work!

Hey Lindsay!!, 3 weeks. 2 weeks Pre op 1 week post op, but I'm still on liquid/mush diet right now. I move to mush/soft on thursday. I'm starving all the time, don't let it fool you. protein shakes really help and spacing out the meal is most important. Key is to keep hydrated, half the hunger will dissapear, and tell yourself that it's all a trick. And try to stick to specific times when you have your meal and make a "snack" time to have your protein shakes... That seems to work for me. only I'm off the protein now But still drink the Odwalla Vanilla Al'mondo ones for breakfast.

Thanks for your reply. I went back to the gym this am and did step class. I am really making an effect to eat small portions and drink my protein shakes everyday.
I am chewing slow and can't wait for my first fill. How much did your md put in the first fill. my Doc. says he is going to put in 1. 5 cc the first fill on June 17 th. Looking forward to hearing back from u. Eileen

Hi There
I am a little the same, have been trying to keep myself busy. I have decided its cleaning out the kitchen day tomorrow I cant believe we are almost there to our date 14/5 its come around so fast. How long do you have to be on your pre op diet? What do you have to do in your diet? Im just on 2 Optifast a day and a meal at dinner time. Small peice of protein and some vege or salad. Its not too bad, Its weird to say it but the Chocolate Optifast actually tastes quite nice
I have been feeling really crap the last couple of days, the optifast seems to bound me up pretty bad
Its not nice, But at the end of the day its working I have lost quite a bit of weight. If my scales at my gym and the ones at the doctors are the same Ive lost 12kg.....kinda exciting....Im just hoping my liver shrinks enough
But hey like you said WE can do it!!!
Thanks heaps for writing to me that was really nice
Talk soon Trish

Good to hear from you. I am doing great, I have lost 22 lbs. since my surgery. I had my first fill on the 20th of this month, didn't have as much restriction as I thought I would have had. I got 2cc and Lori did a great job, didn't feel a thing. I am excited to hear how you and your husband are doing, let me know how much weight you guys have lost. I would also like to know what you are eating. I am sticking to high protein - low carb, but I am getting tired of eating the same things, maybe you can give me some ideas.

Hi there! No I didn't get my band through Kaiser. My BMI wasn't high enough (38) and I had no co-morbids. I originally scheduled to self-pay with a place up here for $17k but the more I read these boards the more I started looking into Mexico as an option. I ended up with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali for $7k and very happy with the experience. So, sorry I couldn't help you with your question!

Hello,
I am 3 days post-op and having the most amazing lunch!!! here it is..strained a la cream of chicken soup, served with a chocolate martini ( vanilla protein shake, with carnation chocolate, blended oh so well with ice inside my magic bullet until smooth) served with the most crisp, clear, purified city gin (water). You have to have humor to get over these $25.00 a plate meals... please send me some more recipes

How are you doing?? I missed this message just getting used to the site. I have been doing really well. the hardest thing to deal with is the gas pains. Still on the protein drinks, just progressed to thickened liquids. The cream of soup taste like heaven. Looking forward to week 3 when I can add soft foods. Good Luck! Take an easy : )

Hey, I've got the same froggy ticker as you...great minds think alike, huh? Lol! I actually didn't mind the slim fast shakes, but having bouillon and smooth varieties of Campbell's soup at hand and/or Lipton Cup-a-soup were also great to break up the monotony. Did your doc say only liquids or only the ones you mentioned? Luckily, I could have any liquids, but if not, then maybe you can mix OJ into vanilla protein shakes (yummy creamsicle). I know ppl have all kinds of protein shake "recipes" on here, it just depends on whether you're allowed to add fruit, juice, strawberry sf syrup, etc. Good luck!

I'm so glad to hear you are staying optimistic! It is pretty easy while the wait is coming off. I've lost 7lbs as of today. YAY!
I understand the queasiness I was pulling of the tape on my incisions and it was sticking to my staples, I had to stop what I was doing and lay down for a minute.
I am just eating Campbell's. Yesterday I had tomato. I like most of their creamed soups in recipes, but I have never had them by themselves. Today I am going to try cream of mushroom. Others I will be trying is Cream of broccoli and cream of onion. They have others that I have never heard of before like, cream of shrimp, asparagus, and celery. I add unflavored protein powder to these and it's an easy way to get my protein in!

What are you doing as far as food? I've been eating a lot of yogurt and applesauce. I tried Malt O Meal yesterday morning and all that seems to be fine. When I have any cream soup or like the spaghetti sauce last night I get HORRIBLE heartburn.
My husband bought me one of those arm bands like they use on the biggest loser so I can count my steps. I've been doubling my activity everyday since surgery.
I have to go back to work in two days and I'm really worried about the gas and bowel issues. My bowels are so LOUD it is embarrassing!!! Like just sitting there everything moving around inside, you can hear it accross the room.
I haven't been able to do three shakes a day either. My shake has 26grams per serving so, I really only need to do 2 if I get protein from food. HEY SF fudsicles have 2 grams EACH!!
I've also already lost 10 lbs. Keep me updated on your progress.

I honestly do not stick to calorie intake. I do however watch my carb intake. But not so much calorie. I eat tofu at least 4 times a week. (I know I hear you all already ewh.... tofu. don't knock it till you try it the right way). I make stir fry dishes using tofu and if we are having chinese at work I order tofu. I love the maximum protein from GNC. However it's expensive. Vitamin shop is cheaper and you can buy any protein, take it home, try it, and if you don't like it you can return it. I also recommend greek yogurt. It is called Fage. It kinda tastes like a sour, sour cream but it has like 18grms of protein in 1cp. I add one sweet and low to it. I have a 4cc band and I am at at least 3.7. I get fills and unfills often, so I can no where my optimal restriction is. I have realized it changes with weight loss.

I drank 1-2 protein shakes daily initally. then after 6mons or so I started implimenting more protein filled foods. I found a bean and rice protein burger at Costco that I like very much. It is about 17grms of protien in 1 burger. I recoomend starting an exercise ritual with cardio. I do a mile or 2 on the treadmill and I personally usually do about 10mins on the stair master. Thank you for your nice comments. You all have the tool now to loss the weight you just need the motivation.

You know I know every person is different. My daughter has had a life long battle with weight, so her skin has almost no elasticity and she had no options. She will have a second procedure done for her arms and side/back fat next year. If I lose what I hope to lose, the only area I will need to work on is chicken arms and there are some noninvasive procedures out there that do help.
I clearly cannot afford 27k to do surgery either. That's why I jumped through hoops to get insurance company to pay for band

Hmm..I would be bummed too! BUT let's look at it this way. You lost. Even though it was just a pound. Are you measuring yourself? maybe you lost inches and not pounds. Also, maybe your body just needs MORE calories to lose weight. I read on here all of the time that if you go too low, your body holds on. I read a good article on the home page about weight loss plateus, if you cant find it I posted in on my blog last week I think. Dont give up! You will get there! Drink your water, get your protein, move....it has to happen.

Hey LadyDiva, thank you and I've lost about 32lbs so far. I haven't expierenced any hair loss but I was told from my doctor that as long as you get your protein in then you should be fine. Trust me I make sure I get that in!! Good luck tomorrow with your doctor. I'll be honest, I have no regrets so far. The only small complication I'm having right now is left shoulder pain when I eat. Other than that, this was the best decision I ever made.
Keep in touch!
