I go to Mexico on the 30th. I am up on Clarksville, TN. I think it is about a three hour drive to Memphis, how far is it from there to Oxford, MS? I have looked about and have a few I will call when it is time to have a fill. Thanks Heather

vacation after surgery..
DallasSleeve replied to pjsmith222's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it depends on where you're going and what you're doing- About 3 weeks post-op I went to Chicago with my husband on business. They were having beautiful weather and we really had no formal plans. I was able to relax during the day while he worked and then we went sight-seeing in the late afternoons and evenings. I had no problems (other than being extremely jealous of all the great foods he was eating- I was still on liquids). Then 6 weeks out, I went to San Antonio on a family vacation. It was pretty bad! The heat index was 107-110, so I could not stay hydrated which meant I did not participate in all the fun stuff. Because I was so dehydrated and drinking constantly, I was nauseous and never hungry so I got in almost no Protein. It was really tough! So I would say, if you are expecting to do something really physical, I would re-schedule. If you can relax and take it easy then go and have fun! -
I love asparagus now, I hope I don't hate them soon, LOL... I am just one week post op! Hoping my new love for food is all fruits and veggies...

Okay so I’m 3 days post op and getting close to goal on liquids but I have the following questions... 1. How do I take my crushed medication when liquids only. It’s so nasty mixed in Water 2. How are you getting Protein in with just liquids. My plan seems to be more concerned with liquids the first week and not so much with protein 3. Have not had a bowel movement since 3 days before surgery. I’m not uncomfortable but know I need to get things moving. 4. I had my gallbladder taken out the same time as my sleeve. I wouldn’t be in any pain if it wasn’t for my lower right abdomen. What happened there? Think that’s where they pulled stomach and gallbladder from? The incision by bellybutton doesn’t hurt as much as my insides do on my right Thank god for heating pad Thanks!

Weight gain before seeing surgeon for upcoming surgery
dfhtuy89 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My anxiety is at an all time at the moment. My surgery date isnt until October 30th and I start my liquid diet October 16th. I'm not stressing about the surgery but the weigh in with my Surgeon. She wants to do a weigh in on Tuesday October 17th but the probably is I gained 15 lbs!!! I gained all that weight in 5 days. There are a lot of factors... 1) I didn't drink any water for 3-4 days 2) My period has been on and off for 2 weeks because the birth control in my arm was expiring so I got a new one put back in 3) stressed 4) lack of sleep and have been sleeping late. I know you can gain some weight from water retention, being on your menstrual and being stressed out but 15 pounds?! This is really bad timing. If im not the same weight or have lost anything that means my surgery will be postponed and that isn't an option for me. I plan on starting my liquid diet a little bit in advanced ( Sunday 10/15 ) This has to be all water weight but i don't know if it's possible to lose 15 pounds in 3 days. This is all just bad timing -
I am from ontario and I am wondering if any of are from Ontario too and if so can you can tell me how long it took you to have surgery? I went to see my doctor last week and he was going to get me registered but i am dying from the wait. My husband thinks that i am obsessed with this because i have so many questions and i can't stop reasearching things about the surgery.

I Just Can't Eat What I Know I Have To Eat To Break This Stall!
sk8lady posted a topic in Food and Nutrition
I was sleeved 3/24/11 and dud great for the first 6 months and then hit a freaking wall!! It took me 6 months to lose 60 and I was okay with that but I have been stuck since September and can't budge. Have actually gained about 5 pounds and not happy with myself. I know that I should be eating more dense Protein but I have a hard time with it. It's amazing how your taste buds change. Have no desire to eat eggs and the thought of tuna fish makes me sick. Just can't do either of those anymore. I crave Chobani Greek yogurt with 1/4 c of granola and could eat that 3 times a day. Almost addicted to it. It's the only meal I get any satisfaction from these days. I also crave sweets even just a taste. At least I can't eat a lot like I used to. Instead of 20 Dunkin Munchkins like before, I can be satisfied with 3. I treat myself once a week to my munchkins (not good I know but that can't be the only reason!) I need my life to allow me to plan better meals and give me more time to walk and workout more. I have been doing Zumba 1-2 times a week and try to get a couple of good walks in too. I know I should do more but I need about 3 hours more per day. My commute to work and other crap eat up too much time. I guess I already know my answers but I had to make myself accountable by putting it in writing! Thanks for listening! -
My dr is more restrictive. I can have 4-5 protein drinks from a limited list of brands, SF jello, clear broth and water. I have to do this 2 weeks before and I'm on day 2 and feel like I could chew a shoe!!!

Food Sweats And Feeling Drink Temp On Skin?
robynluevano replied to Tanya_cotto's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I have a hot drink it is weird, like I feel it spread from my stomach to all over. But I only feel it with warm liquid. I am 7 weeks post now, so I don't give it too much thought. I also swear I have seen people talk about that before too. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Ok it was the first time I threw up after being sleeved two weeks ago.I drank my protein shake and then later took my chewable vit and chewable calcium. Two min later I was getting I'll.Now the other day I took them just fine but I noticed when I took them last night I felt nauseous. So what do you think?

WARNING! I'M BEING A CRY BABY
AngelaHope replied to 10/6/14's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Dear Crybaby, Hey, Sweetie, I'm a crybaby, too. Your post caught my attention because I've been a little moody lately. However, I'm 48 and I've been having hot flashes, so I'm thinking I may be crying more for hormonal reasons. How long ago did you have your surgery? I'm 3 months out, and I promise you, it does get easier. Although, I'm getting pretty sick of chicken lol. I've been losing the standard 1-2 lbs a week, and you really don't want to lose more than that. It was hard for me to have 1/3 cup in the beginning, but now, I'm able to hold 1/3-1/2 cup. My nutritionist says that by a year about, my meals will be about the size of a salad plate. That's comforting to me. Just try to remember why you started and how much better you must already feel. Stay active. I must admit, though, I do things that my doctor probably wouldn't approve of, such as have a piece of Weight Watchers chocolate almost daily. It really helps me when I'm feeling hormonal and need some chocolate. My favorite is called Birthday Cake. No one really talks about your hormone levels and how they might affect you. What's driving me crazy is not being able to have a carbonated beverage...Well, my doctor doesn't approve of that either. But I have to say, I've let one sit out to lose some of its fizz and took a few sips. idk, I'm just rambling and I'm probably no help at all. I'm 3 months out, though, and I've lost 50#, so I'm not doing too bad. I hope you get over this rough spot. Keep your eye on the prize, Sweetie xoxox -

As far as when you can eat again...you've gotta give yourself time to heal. Don't rush it, you'll be eating again before you know it, albeit far less volume! I didn't really did anything radical to get to my goal weight (well, excluding the whole cutting my stomach out part! ). Just followed my doctor's plan and moved around as much as possible. Regarding working out, I have worked out religiously since about week 16. I started with light weights and gradually increased. At this point I'm having a ball working out and feel like a kid again...my wife will tell you I never stopped acting like a kid, but I digress! Weight training five days a week (3 intense/2 basic) and mild cardio on weekends (mowing lawn, biking, staying busy outside and swimming...well, lounging in the pool! ). The surgery simply reduced the volume you can consume, unfortunately the head hunger is something you'll have to work on, i.e. retrain your brain. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it. One of my favorite quotes, "Do or do not, there is no try" ~ Yoda Good luck! -
I am on a early stall too. I lost 12 pounds the first 7 days I was home and the scale has not moved since. I had my surgery Feb 27, Kindove discouraging when I am really staying on track with the protein and water.
-
Just be patient. I know it's frustrating when the scale doesn't move. I'm on week 11 and I've had at least 3 different weeks where the scale doesn't move for 7 days, then I'll mysteriously be down 2 - 3 pounds overnight. Your body is just acclimating to the lower calorie intake and sometimes it is holding onto every calorie, trying to replace the glycogen stores in the muscles. I don't have a formula for getting the scale moving again, but I do try to mix things up to keep my body from getting used to a set pattern. I walk a little extra, up my vegetable intake, or eat low carb for a day or two to see how my body will react. I was eating pistachio nuts and sunflower seeds last week and EEEEEKKKKKK! I gained 2 lbs that week. Monday I went back to basics of eating my refried Beans and chicken (eating 4oz every 2 hours), this morning I've lost the extra 2 lbs plus another 1lb. For the 1st time in 4 years I'm under 310lbs.

So, I know there are a lot of posts on here about the "3rd week stall". Has anyone been through a 2nd week stall? My first week post-op I lost 15 pounds!!!! Then I started puréed foods and ever since the scale hasn't budged! It's been about 5-6 days of nothing, nada, zip! Don't get me wrong, I am very thankful for my initial weight loss and I'm sure my body is freaking out but how do I get the scale moving again!? I'm getting about 80oz fluids/day and hitting my protein goals that my NUT set. I've also been out and about walking around target, Walmart, the mall, etc. I know I could probably do a little more exercise but I'm a little hesitant until my 2 week follow up appointment which is tomorrow! Any suggestions would be great!

Wow and I thought I was having some issues! I don't really have much advise but I am having some similar frustrations. Was banded 7/25 - Had no issues until October when had some swelling and leakage from the port site. I was told it was nothing to worry about by the covering doctor (regular was on vacation). When I saw my regular doctor he told me I was infected and it had to come out. So back to the hospital, port comes out. I get felt with huge whole in my stomach so it can heal on its own. On 1/9 I have port put back in. I go back to the doctor on 1/25 and have a huge hematoma - again nothing to worry about. A couple of weeks later I am in extreme pain - I go see the doctor and he is convinced that it is headed to infection. So I get put on antibiotics daily which requires a daily trip to the hospital which is 1.5 hours away every day. We are headed to the second week of this fun!!!! On the plus side I have lost about 100 pounds, put I would like to move on with my life already. I think that is what has me so pissed. Anyway - no words of wisdom, other then the Band does work and is well worth all the efforts. Just wanted you to know you are not alone.

You might think that being too tight will help you lose but in reality you are more likely to gain. If you can't eat proper food you will probably resort to high cal sliders which are not satisfying so you end up taking in even more. And as the others have already pointed out being too tight leads to slips - that could result in best case scenario having to have your band unfilled for a long period of time (weeks or months) or worst case losing your band altogether. Do you still think it is worth it?

Lets talk experiences Days 1- 90 -Post Op
blessngs2rsleeve posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HI Everyone, I'm new here...was sleeved on 9/9/13....had horrible gas the first two days post op but by morning of day three i had no more gas...I never had any pain except during coughing so after gas was gone I needed no further pain med...my food allowance and progression is 1st week-clear liquids, 2nd week full liquids, 3rd week soft/puree, 4th week regular texture no bread, pasta, for 1st 4-6 months.... so Im on full liquids which includes greek yogurt, hot cereal, pudding, milk, protein shakes, etc,,,so far so good for me, I belch way more than I ever did, and I'm finally able to drink and get at least 32 ounces and get all my protein in. taking my supplements is another story, Im having a hard time getting the pills down.. they get stuck while trying to go down and it burns and causes nausea. today was the first day I had no burning and got the pills down while taking continuous sips....I've decided to weigh myself weekly. started pre-op surgery day 237 and upon leaving hospital I was 5lbs down, one week later 10 lbs down. I'll weigh myself again. on 9/23. im excited about my journey though i must admit , I cant wait to have some textured food....please discuss your experiences...Im excited to hear about others -
Hi there, good for you to be noticing how you're feeling. In the old days I just tamped down whatever was going on with food and now I try to just take that extra time to breathe and consider the whole picture. Right now I'm struggling with peri menopausal stuff. When will this be over!! I think my band reacts to the hormonal shifts and right now I'm having a lot of that. But on the plus side I really wanted to get my weight off prior to menopause because I think it's harder afterward. I'm 53 and like so many people wish I had my band decades ago. Good for you on the Zumba, etc! The exercise really helps me, too. I am a walker, primarily, but have wanted to try Zumba. Used to be a dancer. There's an August class in our little community center with an instructor who is supposed to be great. I blew off the first week but think I will call and see if it's okay of I come do the other three. Perfect intro, really, and right here in town. Thanks for the thought! And I hope you feel better. The writing it out helps, doesn't it? I so appreciate the people here. You are doing really well. After each of my many fills I would have restriction then lose it and go for another and then that leveled off. Even still I had to have another recently. It takes a while to get to solid green but you are on your way!

Awww booooo!! my place is 4 times a week. its not a a gym so maybe that why.

I was on a narcotic for pain immediately after surgery. This also caused me to have nausea. I asked to be taken off the the narcotics; I had mild discomfort, but no real pain, plus no more nausea. I was able to walk around better and that helped with the gas build-up. I didn't take any additional pain meds afterwards, nor have I since and I am 3 weeks post-op. They sent me home with some non-narco pain meds, but I never had to take them. Also, they didn't need to give me anything to calm down, so I don't know if they even offer something like that. There was a woman there at the same time as me, she was very nervous prior to surgery. The doctor said that it was her choice and she could leave if she wanted to. I don't think they will operate if someone is too nervous or too anxious. By the way, in Mexico, there is no HIPA, so no patient privacy. The staff was so irritated with her, they were talking about her amongst themselves and with the other patients. That is how I know her situation. Plus, she spoke to me a few times. I felt she didn't do enough research prior to her decision, and that is why she was so nervous. Height: 4'10" SW:190 CW:178 GW: 125

8 more days.. I just need some comfort
Em_JW replied to vsg2266's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually a week before surgery it still hadn't hit me that it was really happening. It hit me the day of. Keep busy and clean your room, do laundry (you'll want fresh sheets), and organize. You're going to be great! You got this! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
This week has been tough. I'm not sure if its because it's the time of the month. Any ladies have a hard time during this time? I haven't made the best food choices, but they were not horrible. I only went to zumba twice this week. I hope to be back to normal next week. I have another follow up appointment on the 16th. I hope i lost something. I feel like i got adjusted to the first fill too quickly. Idk i just feel off =/
