@noeysmom- I am a revision from Lapband too due to band failure. My esophagus has slowed down and food is sitting in my throat. I had my first official doctors appointment in early August and I was approved on Monday for an October 18th surgery date. If you are having issues with the band, (at my practice )they move you along pretty quick. Not sure if that helps, but I definitely did not have to go through the whole routine that I did on my initial surgery Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Revision From VSG to RNY September 28
kovab72 replied to manitobamama's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had a revision from VSG to bypass on 9/26. I've done really well this time up until today. I bent over to tie my shoes and I had a really bad sharp pain in my right incision. Felt like something inside knotted up and twisted. Still sore, waiting on Dr to call back. I also had bad cravings in the beginning but it seems to be getting easier daily. Sleeve to bypass revision tomorrow! Need advice and success stories
Shells_Almost_There replied to PortlandGirl's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I hope all went very well! I'm also thinking about a revision, but there's so much to consider - and my original surgeon doesn't perform revisions, so in addition to the surgery considerations, I'd need to find a new surgeon. Keep us posted on your new journey - best wishes! -
Going from Band to Bypass
RJC5197 replied to april_mba's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my revision to RNY in May and so happy with it. My band also go to the point that liquids would not go thru and I was admitted to hospital several times due to dehydration. I also got immunity system problems due to the lack of proper nutrition. No more Gerd, No more stuck foods, and also, enjoying healthy foods again like salads, meats and eggs, where I could not even try without getting stuck & sick. Best to you on your revision. -

Dreaded two week diet lolI had a VSG revision to RNY on 09/28. I was scared and nervous but was so happy that the 2 week pre op diet was done just to realize it's more like a 3 week liquid diet as you forget the week after surgery. I can be your buddy if needed. My middle daughter is currently teaching at Darby College until July. My dad was born in Horsham England but came to Canada, where we reside, when he was 6 manitobamama -
That was the reason for my VSG to RNY revision as well manitobamama

Revision From VSG to RNY September 28
manitobamama posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
So I am a week out of surgery. First couple of days it felt like I did 10 000 sit ups. Today it feels like only doing 500. Got my walking down, sipping my liquids but need to sip a lot more to meet my goal. I know it doesn't happen overnight. I start each day with a Boost Diabetic Protein drink. Nice to see there is an app for this. Hope I get to know others here. Cheers manitobamama -
While some posters are recommending revisions, I'd say that your issues are emotional rather than the band not working. You've learned how to eat around it and that's the problem. Talk to the doctor, be honest with him or her, and see what he/she says about fills vs. a mind reset so to speak. It might behoove you to consider working with a therapist. I do. She had been banded at one time and understands better than most, how to help me to navigate the world of successful WLS and more importantly, how to maintain that success. Good luck and keep us posted.

Going from Band to Bypass
shedo82773 replied to april_mba's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Those DARN Lap Bands!!! My hubby had his for 13 years and it malfunctioned. He couldn't hold down even Water. Long story short. He went in for a Revision Sept 2013. It had eroded into his liver they couldn't do the RNY they took the band out and his gallbladder. He got abscesses and was sick for 9 months, 3 months he doesn't even remember!! So just this last June we went to Mexico for his RNY ( had to pay cash because they don't bill your insurance) When they got in there his whole right side was solid scar tissue so he ended up getting the Sleeve. It isn't working too well for him. He is struggling with his mind hunger. I think he really needed the RNY because it is more restrictive and malo sorbent too. I'll bet you can't wait. being sick all of the time is not good. Which surgery are you looking into? I had the RNY July 2, 2013. I lost 124#'s in 6 months and have maintained my weight for 2 and 1/2 years!! It, in my opinion, is the very best surgery. But I do know people that have GREAT results from the Sleeve. Good Luck in whichever surgery you decide on. This is a GREAT place to come for information!! -

Yes momto3E. I had a revision from a lap band. So surgeon told me if there was too much scar tissue they might have to do a sleeve instead. But he said everything was good, so I got my bypass. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

Everyone's losing weight faster than me
abs6angels replied to asweet_sleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Glad I found this thread, my revision was 4/18/16 and so far 35 lbs down. Was sooooo discouraged cause I have a friend who got it done (just sleeve not band to sleeve) and is down 79 and she got it done 2 wks after me. Now that I've read everyone's post, I feel much better. I've even had some cheat meals, but haven't gained anything. -
Deffanatly get your band checked there have been many bad side affects from it and many revisions to the sleeve or rny due to weight gain and your body not tolerating it. The only able to take 2 bites at a time sounds like that. I am currently going for a revision to rny cause I have gained back all my weight and now have GERD from the band. I have an intolerance to the band as well regular PBing no fun. Good luck and msg me if you have any questions. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Proof of weight loss attempts
Sai replied to nh-vsgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For my revision they didn't ask since I already had the band for many years but for my band I remember having to just list all my diets like Weightwatchers, Jenny Craig, diet pills, hypnosis... etc. Anything I could remember off the top of my head that I tried in order to lose weight.
