  1. I am trying to find all the NSV I can find. I did a little blog about the ones I have seen so far. And I looked back over my blogs and I realized I blogged about the day we went to the Third Day Concert (almost a year ago) and the shirt I wanted to wear didn't fit. Fast forward to today and I am wearing that shirt..the one that didn't fit!!! Hopefully the picture will attach. The pic on the left was last year and it's a picture of the Concert picture...but you get the idea. The one on the right is today. Not a before and after, but definitely a before and during!! I still have a ways to go but I can definitely see the progress!!

    weight loss

I felt mine was slow compared to others, so I understand why you're asking but I'm not going to give you the answer you are looking for. Comparisons are a trap that lead to frustration, discontentment, and fear of failure. Just keep following your plan and you will succeed. Stop watching the numbers on the scale and Celebrate the NSV's (non scale victories) along the way. The fit of your clothes, stopping a medication, pains going away, painting your own toes, seatbelts fitting better - all these and more! These are the reasons we're doing this. The scale number is just a gauge. How we FEEL and what we can DO are the real reward! I will say that, though sometimes it felt like it was going slow, by 7 months I had lost 100 pounds. Then came a two month stall, but I felt good and was prepared to be happy at that weight. Then another 20 pounds came off between 9 and 12 months. I'm hovering between 115 and 118 now (a good weight for me - I'm only 5' tall).

    NSV!!! Yeah!

Yesterday, I was shopping at lane Bryant, and the store clerk asked me if I needed help. I told her I was looking for a particular shirt that the manequin was wearing. She told me to follow her, and she picked up the shirt and handed it to me and said "this is the smallest size we have" and handed me a size 14/16!!! She assumed I wear their smallest size!! I was beaming on the inside. I was banded on 12/31/2010 and have lost almost 40 lbs and was wearing a size 22 pants and 18/20 top, so this was exciting to me! Just wanted to share!!

I Have a Lap for the Laptop?

I had a shocking revelation today. I was able to use my lap for a laptop. I have never done this before. Then it dawned on me, I have been fat since before there were laptops…ouch. I really should not be surprised, but I am. I believe this qualifies as one of those NSVs, but it was still somewhat disturbing that I have been fat longer than laptops have existed. I do travel almost every week for my job and I have over 3,000,000 miles on American Airlines alone, and about that many on United and other airlines. I even bought my roll-aboard suitcase because it made a good table for my laptop when I was on the road. OK…probably not the most earth-shattering event ever, but very helpful anyway.

  6. So, it's been awhile since I've been on here. Looks like I'm the same weight I was as the last time. I said at the beginning of December that I wanted to lose 10lbs by my birthday in the beginning of March. Well, I lost 2lbs, but have been then up and down between the (lowest was 138.6) and what I was when I decided to challenge myself (142). Argghh!! It is so difficult. I'm so close, but it feels like I'm still far away from my official goal of 115. I mean right now I'm only 25lbs to go. If I can reach my next mini goal by my birthday, I'll only be 17lbs away. I've got to stick with it, because it is so worth it. My NSV moment came when I bought a size 8 skirt (granted it's elastic waist & I think whoever owned it before me (it's from my favorite thrift store) must have stretched it out)!!!!!!! I've also gotten a couple other medium sized things. That's so exciting!! And even more people are noticing that I've lost weight. I hear the words "thin" and "skinny" and I'm like "You can't be talking about me." But, sometimes I see it too. I'm astounded by the fact that I've actually thought seen my myself and thought "skinny". Now I just need to catch myself a guy. So, if you're reading this and struggling with your weight loss, I just want you to hang in there. Lord knows it is tough, but it is so worth it. It's taking me a really long time, but I'm still so glad I made the decision to get the band.

    I can see my ribs!!!

I do the same thing. DW hasn't caught me doing it, but it's amazing. I also feel alot more muscle under there than ever before. And I played football throughout hs and jr college. Congrats on the nsv, loridee! Feels great doesn't it
  8. I'm having the surgery on the 13th, I cycle between being really excited and really terrified. What makes me excited are looking at the before/after pictures, the success stories, when people talk about their NSV's and all the things they are doing now that they couldn't do before! There are lots of threads on here like that, check them out! ????

If it's not an NSV, and not an SV, what is it?

Sleeve, I personally went out of my way to go find a cheap pair of pants in size 28W. I bought them to take them home. They were only 15 Dollars so not that much really... Well I tried them on and... O...M...G... WOW!!! I literally had to hold them up because they would fall straight to the ground. I honestly can't believe I was ever that big. How embarrassing. I only Thank God I'm not that large anymore. I do have a long ways to go, but by golly I'm about half-way there. NSV's rule the scale ANY DAY!!!
  10. Lissa

    Nsv Almost

Oh, I'd be counting that as an NSV and a SV!! You're doing great. Keep on rocking that sleeve!
  11. How's this for a non-scale victory? When I woke up this morning, I felt absolutely great! That never used to happened. Now it happens all the time. My mood is terrific, I have energy, my stomach feels flat(er), I even feel taller. Before getting the band, I was very nervous. I had serious fears and doubts about it, so I googled "band" + "regret". I got a bunch of results of people posting "My only regret is that I didn't get it sooner!" And now, that's exactly how I feel. I love you Lap-Band!
  12. Life has gotten in the way the last 2 months. I was unable to take care of me the way I was supposed. Not exercising, not enough Protein all sorts of things. I gained 8lbs. Now 3 weeks ago I was sitting here crying feeling like a failure. I'm back on track in the last 3 weeks. walking 3 miles a day, getting my protein and Water. I have lost those 8lbs. I haven't had a fill in two months.I go for one tomorrow. There will be no great loss, but no gain and I realized I'm good with that. I can't beat myself up for no being able to take care of myself (I was the primary care giver for my MIL the last 3 months and she passed a month ago). I've lost 60lbs since surgery in November. One hundred total since last May. When I think of it that way I'm pretty proud of how far I have come in the last year. So now onto the NSV. I can ride my bike without the seat hurting my rearend. Pretty happy about that. I haven't been able to do that in about 3 years. So all in all a good week for me. Thanks for listening.
  13. WooHoo! What a Great NSV! Yoga and Pilates have Def worked in my favor, I feel toner every day! Don't worry about the scale as much, I dedicate alot of success to doing what feels right and only scaling at my Doctor Appointments. I have jumped sizes without jumping many lbs. Size 26 to 16! It is truely amazing!
  14. Okay, in the interest of full disclosure, I should tell you that my "skinny" jeans are 1x with an elastic/drawstring waist. At my heaviest, I would only admit to a size 2x, but honestly, even those were getting snug. When I lost my first 20 pounds, I tried on these 1x jeans and they were still uncomfortably tight in the thighs and caboose area. So, I've been reluctant to try on anything smaller in the past month. Even though I only lost 2 pounds in December, I've added pilates to my walking routine. When I tried on the "skinny" jeans today, not only did they slide easily over my hips, but I actually had to tighten the drawstring to keep them up! I guess my body has become smaller even though the scale hasn't reflected a dramatic loss. I was beginning to lose some of my enthusiasm recently, but this small NSV has given me renewed hope. Happy New Year Everybody!

    Slowly but Surely...

Congratulations! I think the NSV moments are the best. Even though my scale has been going up and down like a rollercoaster, my body has been reshaping and I'm wearing sizes I haven't worn in 20 years! .

    My biggest NSV yet!

Let me be the first to say.... YEY YOU!!! Ain't that a lovely feeling when you hear a compliment from the least expecte place... Congrats on a great NSV and a great weight loss to date... keep up the good work!
  18. Update: so I haven't weighed myself in a few days, thanks to my wonderful time of month appearing [emoji107]I guess it's a good thing since I will show a bigger loss (hopefully) I'm still on Full liquids and have eaten tomatoe soup everyday for lunch and I'm finally over it. I'm still working on getting to 60 grams of protein and 64oz of liquid but my little tummy is struggling. I currently am about 50 ounces of liquid and 45 G protein today, but I will get there. I'm starting to feel better each day, and the soreness in my side is not as intense - now only if I can get comfortable enough at night so I can get a good nights sleep [emoji120] Small NSV my clothes are getting tooooo loose, I find myself trying on multiple items just so I don't look frumpy and I put on jeans yesterday without needing to unbuckle them [emoji15] woohoooooo I must say I am proud of my progress and can't wait until I'm cleared for high intensity workouts [emoji123]????
  19. Oooh! I love rollercoasters! I've been too afraid to even try them for years. What a fantastic day you had and there is nothing better than the adoration of your children! Big thumbs up for this NSV!
  20. Lissa

    My 1St Nsv!

Yay!! Those clothes NSVs are terrific, aren't they???

    What's NSV Stand For?

Thank you for filling me in. My NSV for this month is I've admitted to myslef I am not a failure - but merely on my WL journey without the proper tools - thus Lap band, Thanks Alex - I always enjoy your posts.

    My face is back!

Awesome! Those NSVs are so much better than the scale victories. I remember how excited I was the day I realized I had collar bones again haha!

    NSV!!

Them NSV are the best !!!
  24. That is sooooo awesome. Congratulations. You ROCK girl. I think I will have to do a sleep study of some variety to confirm because my apnea was severe, butr when I can stop I am so looking forward to that, and maybe being able to sleep on a plane without fear of disturbing others, though that may take more work as I'm told part of why I snore/have apnea is because of a severely deviated septum. Anyway, I tOTALLY get what a NSV that is. Woohoo!!
  25. Tell me what's on your mind! Got a question you need answered? Ask! Got something you want to talk about? Talk! Got an NSV you wanna share? Share! Sleeve related or not, I wanna know what you have to say! What's on my mind today is a tiny NSV from this morning... So, I've decided not to buy clothes until I hit onederland (35lbs to go!) so this morning I put on my size 24 work pants and had to pin them in two separate places! Holy crap batman! Also, the shirt I'm wearing today was too small two months ago. I've gone from a tight 24 in the waist to a comfortable 18, and a 2Xl to an XL in the top Oh, and my stall has finally ended! Halelujah praise the Lord!
