  1. Hi! I've been reading through the forums and I've learned so much. I'm so excited/nervous as I start the pre-op diet today. I have to do 10 days of liquids, which I'm prepared for but still incredibly nervous. I'm really ready to just pay my money and get the surgery over with before I back out. I'm ready to start the next chapter of my journey. I'm so thankful for my husband who is incredibly supportive. I think my biggest fear is still being unhappy with myself after surgery.
  2. Hello again all. I have been extremely frustrated with my weight loss. I had my surgery on Feb 5 2014 so I am a little over 2 months po. The first month from the time the Dr recorded my weight until he seen me 1 month po I dropped 34 lbs. I was ecstatic. When I went in for my 2 month check I only lost 7 lbs taking me down to 226. That was on April 7. Since then I have dropped 8 lbs in the last 2 weeks. I work out at least 5 days a week doing 45 mins on my elliptical and then lifting 10 lb weights on top of it to get my arms in shape hoping some of the skin will stretch back. I eat healthy getting 60 grams of protein daily and plenty of water though sometimes I may be a few grams short on my protein and a little short on fluids. Why am I not losing more weight then I am? It just doesn't make sense to me. My Dr was upset with my at my last visit for not dropping enough weight. I see so many people hitting the 100lb mark before a year and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I plan to start tomorrow walking 4 miles a day like I was before I got the elliptical a couple weeks ago on top of everything else I'm doing. Can someone please help me or guide me so I can increase my weight loss?

  4. Hi to all ???????? just curious if there are any other Hairstylists out there that had RNY, and how long did you have to stay out of work after surgery? I can be on my feet for 10-12 hrs some days and 4-6 on others... Any help with questions is much appreciated ????✂️
  5. I go to doctor on 29 th to set up surgery and the pre-diet scares me cause most everything is sweet. I have saved some juice off of peas (froze it) and going to put unflavored Protein so I have an something not sweet. My diet will be liquid for 10 day and clear last 3. So if your doctor lets you have salad & low carb meal feel lucky ????☕️????☕️???? I hope I am having surgery by August 13--17

    Always on the go......

This procedure is pretty serious business. It will be changing your life. Pre-op diets not only prepare your liver for surgery but also prepares you for post-op eating. Planning meals is super important to success. It's time to slow down and make time for your meal plans. As much as we believe we are "on the go" we really can carve those times we need. Think about what your willing to drop everything for now and transfer that same desire to planning. Instead of going out to eat, drive to the grocery store and shop for the week. If you go to bed at 10 stop what your doing at 9 and prep three meals for the next day. It really is all about making these healthy changes a priority. Take care

    No More Staring!

As long you are happy, it's all that matters. I am happy for you. Keep up the good work. In my case, my boyfriend told me I look like a crackhead so now I am trying to gain a 10 lbs. I am too thin! Foreign language to me!
  8. I was sleeved at 11:16 AM on May 23, 2014. I lost 5 lbs on Day 3, and have been hovering between 154.8-155.6 for almost a week. I probably need to lay off the scale but there's just that intense feeling of validation when your weight drops- I'm still waiting on that. Even though it's WAY TOO early to be bugging about this, a loss shows I didn't go through this for nothing. Except, I'm following my surgeon's instructions to the letter, and I probably just need to chillax and get through the first few weeks, which I am hoping are the hardest

    out of control.

I put on 10 lbs before surgery-and then had to loose 18 lbs before they would perform the surgery My Dr counted the weight I had on the day I first saw him, the weight I had to loose was initially 8 lbs but because it takes a while to do all the testing and getting approval I gained 10 more lbs. In April I had to start dieting I had 5 weeks to loose the weight by my pre op check in-or surgery would be cancelled. I did manage to loose it thank goodness
  10. Oh wow your four weeks out? Are you on the mushy food phase? I have been on the liquid diet for two weeks before surgery and I have been so emotionally hungry! Thanks for the kind words Yes, I'm on limited soft foods: cottage cheese, refried Beans, mushed veggies, oatmeal/cream of wheat, greek yogurt. I get to go to the next phase in 10 days. I was on a 2 week pre-packaged food diet pre-op. Don't worry, your hunger will disappear after surgery; at least, MINE did. Now I eat because I HAVE to...or because I WANT to.

    Back at it!

It helps me to use My Fitness Pal and track everything. Remember to eat Protein first and allow 30 minutes after you eat before you drink Water. Stock up on low fat and fat free Proteins. When I'm starving (in my head) I eat plain yogurt or cottage cheese or drink hot tea. Had lapband surgery 10/12/16
  13. So I'm only 10 weeks post op however I've lost a total of 77 pounds so far, I feel amazing. How is everyone else doing? HW: 363 SW: 358 CW: 281 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. @@Tufflaw I might try to go to just shakes after two days of the fish/chicken at night. I know for me it doesn't matter what it is, give me 4 oz of chicken and I want 8 oz. Not this bad in the summer, but winter I am like a bear. Every year at this time I gain 10 lbs, it totally happened since October. Wishing you the best, wow, so close!!! You must be excited and nervous all at once. Keep us updated.
  15. after 100 lb weight loss, I wanted new picture for drivers license talked to clerk about my wt loss and WLS - he told me he had gastric bypass 5 years ago (small world)- and except for about 5-10 lbs he sometimes teeters with, he's doing great (water, Protein et al - doing terrific) - he lost 170 lbs and he looked great even though clerk didn't have the sleeve, its nice to see someone "long term" post WLS - continue to be successful i have heard some people do gain all their weight back, i guess that can happen to any of us (not to me of course!!! ) he called other clerk over, showed my old license to her - they both couldn't believe it was me!!! If i do say so myself ( and I do!!!) my new picture is pretty darn good - all modesty aside i DO look great - feel great too
  16. Since surgery I've lost 10 lbs and I'm still in second week... Since I began the presurgery process in down 22lbs and my clothes are loose. I haven't even had a fill yet. I'm glad the pounds are dripping but I'm afraid if it goes too fast my skin won't be able to keep up with the weight loss. Any skin pointers? Lotions exercises miracles anything?

    Anxiously Awaiting Approval

I too just finished my 3 months and all the paper work was submitted to Aetna on Friday 7/16/10 and I preared myself to have to wait to hear back at least 10 to 30 days and guess what got a call about 2 hours ago saying it is approved!! They then told me they are booked for the next 30 days with one opening July 28th so I took the date now I am so excited but nervous too. I hope you hear back as fast as I did not sure what insurance company you have. I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of you :tt2:
  19. Zen, I had my surgery on the 26th too. The first two days were uncomfortable, but I did lots of walking. Today, I felt 100% better. Even had a Slim Fast shake, tomato Soup, and a Premeir Protein shake and still no gas or bloating. I think keeping moving really helps. I had one little gas bubble today when I swallowed some air with a gulp (old habits) and I just walked it off in about 10 mins. I know everyone is different, but I bet you'll start feeling better real soon. Clif

    Insurance Doesn't Cover, Submit Letter?

No luck here. My employer specifically excluded WLS so no matter whT my surgeon wrote, they denied me. It's upsetting because my i surance company has benefitted greatly from me losing 100+ pounds! I was tKi g massive amounts of insulin that was costing them $5000 per month. I know take 1/10 of that amount!!! By self paying for lapband they also will not cover anything related to it like a tt or panilectomy. I just had had a tt and br which I also paid for! With that said, I wish you all the luck in getting approved.
  21. I went in for my second post operation visit with my gastric surgeon and have no complications. I have kept a record that started 3 weeks before surgery, so for a total of 10 weeks I have lost 64 pounds.I started at 397 and have a goal weight of 200. I go in for an adjustment on July 18 th, my surgeon does his adjustments in the hospital and only in the office if a emergency. He says this is much more precise and my dietitian agrees totally. I have yet to try a lot of different foods, pasta rice, vegetables, fruits, so I'm looking forward to that. I was so happy with my weigh in because I didn't step foot on a scale since before the operation. I figured if I do as I'm told and stick to the amounts I'm supposed to eat I will lose. Also, since I have such an enormous amount to lose, at this point weighing all the time would be like an emotional roller coaster. Why put myself through that? I was so happy I cried in front of my surgeon, the relief of finally feeling like there is HOPE is so wonderful, I hope everyone can get that too! 133 pounds to go!

    Surgery Date - 9/3/14

I start my 10 day pre-op diet on Sunday. Can't say I'm looking forward to it, but I'm almost to the point where I'm so sick of "I'm eating this (insert bad food) for the last time" phase that I am ready for the pre-op diet. I've gained 10 pounds since I scheduled my surgery! So pathetic! Anyway, for whatever reason I am worried about my pre surgery appointment with my primary care. I don't know why, but I'm scared that they will find something that will delay my surgery. I hope not - so I'm trying to focus my mind that it is going to happen on the 3rd. Anyway, to all those out there jumping on the pre-op diet I wish you well!

    Surgery Date - 9/3/14

Due to my size, I do the shakes 3 weeks pre-op and one week post-op, have to say that I am doing better than I expected. The shakes are really good and I don't get hungry. They want me to have 250 cals from veggies (low gi ones) and lots of water. Today was day 10, down just over 8lbs. You will find your strength because you want this procedure so much to help make you healthy and happy. I am on this train and it's full speed ahead! Come on Sept 3!

    My surgery date is coming

My surgery is scheduled for 10/29/2018. it took 5 months to get all of the testing done (EKG, endoscope, colonoscopy, ultrasound, psyc approval). The insurance company gave the OK last Friday. I haven't felt nervous, just excited. I am ready to stop the yoyo diet lifestyle. I have tried all of the regular, and some not so regular, weight loss plans. I would lose well, and then gain it all back, plus few extra pounds. I am ready to leave that in the past as I start this new part of my life.
