I am a just over two years out and I have gained 40 pounds back. After surgery I had no complications. Nothing made me sick, there was no food that I couldn't eat or that I couldn't tolerate. I did good for a little over a year then I hit a rough patch in life and went completely downhill. I was craving and eating sweets like it was nothing, I was drinking again and often, I quit taking my vitamins regularly. I was taken off of my depression and anxiety meds and put on Vyvanse. It seemed to be working for a while. The transition from my regular meds to Vyvanse happened right before I had surgery so of course, it helped me losing weight. I lost 114 pounds. Then all of a sudden my Vyvanse seemed to not be working anymore. Everyday was a struggle. I tried to get taken off of it a few times and my psychiatrist didn't think it was a good idea. I tried to take myself off of it and I quickly figured out that was not a good idea. I am so irritable most days. I have gotten to where its a struggle to even want to get up out of bed and do anything. I've had several people at work tell me i'm never happy. I'm always complaining or biting someone's head off. This is not me at all. I am generally a happy and fun person. People used to like being around me and now i'm pretty sure they don't. I finally took my myself off off of my Vyvanse (3 weeks without it) and struggled through it. My psychiatrist put my back on depression and anxiety meds last week so i'm hoping to be doing better soon. I've started back on how i'm supposed to eat today and have all of my vitamins. Has anybody else went through something like this or experiences irritability and unhappiness?

can anyone tell me...
cwalker replied to nurse_ally's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does get better about 2 weeks out, hang in there and as Tiffy said never trust a fart early out.lol -
I third that. Just focus on your liquids for the first couple weeks. The most important thing is to stay hydrated. Dehydration can be AWFUL lol..seriously..don't stress yourself out about it. Things will get easier as you progress.

I am so happy for you!!!! I just came back from a week at Disney World/Universal and even though I am at my goal weight, my head would not accept the fact that I would fit in the rides. It was like a "have to see it to believe it" experience. That horrible feeling of waiting in line worrying about whether you would fit or not...I wouldn't wish that torture on anyone.

Tazzy31072 replied to char3672's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr. Office never looked @ my EKG and I was at the end then asked about it because I knew it was abnormal. So one Dr said it seems ok then I had another Dr call me and say I needed Cardiology Clearence waited 2 weeks Saw the Cardiologist on Monday....had an EchoCardiogram on Wednesday and a Stress Echo on Friday. It all turned out ok but what a pain in the butt! -

I try to read as many posts as possible given the small amount of time I have for the internet....and I can tell you.....reading selected posts during the past week has been an absolute pleasure.....we are back to lapband / support business again. The only negative post I have come across is this one. Sorry.....but that's my opinion. Carol

Excellent Youtube Video - The Truth About Wls
ShapeShifter commented on mrsteacher's blog entry in Sleeved by Dr. Kelly in Mexico
Thanks Mrsteacher. She is a great vlogger. If you haven't found her yet, also look for AmySDMOM, as she is three years out, and keeps a weekly vlog on youtube. She shows what she was eating throughout her process... very helpful. I can't imagine going through this life-altering process without internet access. -
Good luck. I'm going to be on a 2 week pre op diet soon, my tentative date is June 22. I'll actually be in Disneyland the entire week before surgery...what a bite@! But, something will always be coming up, so the time is now, I'm approved and I'm ready. Keep up posted and remember, when the hungries get really bad, take a nap! Can't eat while you're sleeping! Hunger pains?
TwinsMama replied to shelbyschroepfer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had hunger pains too (never went away for me post-op). It feel the same as pre-op but the only difference is that my stomach doesn't churn (feel like a knot). At almost 6 weeks out I still get it so, yup, it was hunger all along. Some of us are not as lucky when it comes to getting hungry early on. -
I couldn't sleep well for the first week. It got better and better, now I sleep like a baby.

EXCITED...lost 5 llbs
Nean4488 replied to jennykay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me neither. I weigh myself so much that I can usually predict how much the scale is going to say at night or if I eat something that is more salty then most. My personal trainer keeps telling me only to weigh myself once a week, but whats the harm in 5x a day ?! lol -
I'm joining 'Curves' tomorrow! I can't wait! Just wanted to shout it out. I'm really excited. I've been stuck at -13 lbs. since 2 weeks post-op, and even with the little tiny bit of restriction I got after my first fill, I'm still not losing any weight. I know I need to step it up in the exercise department...so here's to hoping that the pounds will begin to come off! I get my 2nd fill March 19th and maybe that will help also. I gotta reset my siggy to reflect my new goals. I'm in a size 22 jeans right now and I need to get into a size 18 jeans before the last weekend in April when my husband and I will be going on another coaster trip with his friends. I do NOT wanna be on the sidelines again for fear of not fitting onto the roller coasters. If I get into those 18's, then I know I won't have any issues. "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can..." :rolleyes2:

discomfort/soreness at my diaphragm
Jennifer Cunningham posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 9/2 - I haven't had any issues at all - except this morning when I woke up and took a deep breath I was super sore at my diaphragm - center (lower area between my breast) - it doesn't hurt - but when I take a deep breath it's sore - I walked a lot yesterday and I'm wondering if I over did it - When I sit straight up I feel a tightness - sorta like a sore tight muscle? Should I call my doctor? I go see him tomorrow for my 2 week follow up - I did have indigestion last night - maybe that is the cause? I took my protonix this morning just in case. Anyone else experience this? -
9 days post and no energy at all.....Normal?

Posted 09-27-2009 at 04:45 PM by Hychap2009 Had my first appointment with the Podiatrist on Friday. Hip, hip aray!! Well the good news is - it's curable. This was the initial assessment so I've been given instructions on some foot exercises before I get out of bed in the mornings, failing terrible so far, keep forgetting to do them before steping out of bed. I was also given leaflets on stretching exercises along with foot care for diabetics. The condition was explained to me in detail, I disclosed that I would be going into hospital for surgery so they have suggested I come back in 6 weeks time. That's cool with me. (9 days and counting). I've been wearing very flat foot wear, I've been advised to purchase specific type of trainers. I don't really want to spend that amount of dosh when It's possible I might go down in shoe size, waste of cash I can't afford, especially now. My husband thinks that they may be closing down the site where he works which would mean redundancy for - bad, bad, bad news. If my health improves that means I'll have to go out and get a part time job. I don't mind as long as my BP and Diabetese has improved. Flooring finally going down in the extention. WoW, one whole year. A friend of mine lost her mother last week, the funeral was Friday. I couldn't make it - but I was able to get to the house in the evening, I feel a little better for that.

Posted 11-09-2009 at 04:29 AM by Hychap2009 Briefly, got a call about an hour ago from the admission person (Pauline), she has now confirmed my surgery date for 30th Nov. So I'll go in on 29th Nov. She asked me why surgery did not go ahead last month, so I explained briefly, she suggested that I have another pre-assesment, so now I wait for that. I personally think that's a good idea. I'm now considering wheather I should wash my hair this week or near the time. Whichever, its a risk. I have dread locks which are the same length as my height, 5ft 2" so it takes about 3 days to dry properly, therein lays the risk of making my head cold worse. Excited, well not really, I've just had it, the roller coaster ride is getting tiresome. The question in my mind is will I make to surgery.

Did I do the right thing?
Catherine55 replied to hopeandhealing's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there! This is the best decision I've ever made for my overall health and appearance. The band works. It's not a magic wand, but it's pretty freaking amazing what results you will have by this time next year if you just work with it and follow the rules as best you can. To fail with the band, you'd actually have to try to fail (e.g. drink milkshakes, fail to get fills when you need them, ignore your doctor's instructions). So, if you are committed to putting effort into this process, you will succeed. The healing phase is such a bummer because you don't really see results for a while. Just make it through these few weeks and I am sure you will be amazed. Also -- if you haven't taken your measurements yet, be sure to do so. It's so great to be able to see how many inches are coming off (especially when you are exercising and building muscle -- during that time, inches are a better way to see progress than the # on the scale). Best wishes for your success, Catherine -
I really felt completely at peace leading up to the surgery. I KNEW in my heart it was right for me at this point in time and life. Today I wonder...................DID I DO THE RIGHT THING?? I am less than 3 weeks out but have really been struggling the past few days with *did I do the right thing by having WLS?* I have only lost a total of 4 lbs so far. I am scared that I will be one of those people who will fail at this too. I wanted to eliminate future health issues. As although I am fairly healthy at this point, I am almost 60 and am at least 60+ pounds overweight. My knees hurt, my back hurts, I have high cholesterol. The handwriting is on the wall. But now I wonder if I am just going to make things worse not better, as I read about ALL the problems people have with their band, and then after going through all of this, it not working in the end. I guess I am scared. I started this process about a year ago and did TONS of research, so really feel like I went into this with eyes wide open. Now I am not so sure:frown: Has anyone else gone through this? If you had it to do over again, with the same results, would you? Dyanna:crying:
