  1. I took a shower the day after surgery. Took three weeks off after surgery. Only pain was gas pain, pretty bad for a couple of days. Still have some in shoulder every now and then. Drove two days after surgery, no problem. Stairs- just go up easy. It is different i think for everyone. I was lucky. Best of luck. Donna

Post poned the 2nd fill-bad choice???

Well I had lost another 11 lbs after the 1st fill in a month. I sure was surprised, I had been traveling and eating crab, lobster, lots of it! But now I've been home since and just not changing weight. Don't have enough will power to stop grazing along through my weekends. And when my roomie is here she makes me nervous eat cuz she stresses me out. So, today I decided to add a source of maintenance to my life, Weight Watchers. I can go once a week or more often if I need to take myself to a meeting to get back in touch with who and what is most important. ME. I have to do this for my knees and my health and my life in general. Focus focus time for me.

The scale is NOT my friend

Neat idea to hide the scale... Ours was out in the open where I could step on it everyday... Now, I have it in a corner and I am only weighing once a week... on Wednesdays, the day I had my surgery. Weight fluctuates so much in a week for some people... You are not crazy... just completely normal..
  6. DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!

    Nsaid

I have taken NSAIDs regularly since surgery 8 months ago with no problems. My surgeon is aware of it, too. I just wasn't allowed to take them 2 weeks before surgery or 2 weeks after because they are blood thinners.

    Lost on what to do.

@@paclift13 let's get this figured out -- don't give up! Do you have a good relationship with your medical professionals? Sounds like a couple of appointments are needed to discuss band-friendly diet to get on track and assess potential for another fill. It doesn't matter how many we've had -- we are either in the green zone or not. I think there may be some culprit like protein shakes or bars, sliders like chips etc.? How about writing it all down for a week so you have a record. Do you use My Fitness Pal or anything like that? You couldn't believe how many calories I can get into a protein shake, lol. Even the good stuff -- fruit, fish oils, flax, chia -- plenty of calories. And nuts -- I have to watch those. And meanwhile don't look back -- you have your band installed, that's a huge step, now maybe it's the right time to get it working for you. We have to be in the right emotional space sometimes to get our head I to the game. You are doing that -- you're here, you're reaching out, you want to get healthy. We are all routing for you!

  10. Hi everyone. I'm Tiffeny and I live in Westminster. I am trying to form a support group in my area. Although my doctor has a regular support group, they meet on Mondays, the only day of the week that is almost impossible for me to get away from the house. I would love to find others in my area that are also interested in a regular monthly support group meeting. If you are interested please email me directly @ mamabutercup@yahoo.com I would love to make this happen.

    muscle soreness

The one thing I will add to the above is foam rolling. It is a wonderful way to stretch and release tight muscles before and after a workout. It's basically like a massage and stretching all rolled into one. I wouldn't hesitate to foam roll any areas that are giving you discomfort. It's uncomfortable at first...but over the course of a couple of weeks it really starts to feel good....like a self inflicted deep tissue massage.
  13. I just got my blood test back and my TSH level is 24.77 (normal is .3/.5 up to 3/5), so it's a good bit over. I have been taking Synthroid for years now and my levels were good about a year ago. So, I am kind of surprised at this. My family doc did up my dose and said to restest in 6 weeks. I have the end of my 3 month program July 1st and was hoping for a July Insurance Approval and August surgery. Has anyone else had this happen or had a high TSH level and had issues with getting surgery. I would think the surgery would help so hope it won't interfere with the plan me and my doctors office have been working on. :blushing:
  14. I'm in Atlanta still going thru the process. I have 3 months prior to surgery and I am 2 months down. December will be my 3rd month. I have had the psych eval, colonoscopy, and I have a sleep study coming up in a few weeks. These are all my surgeons requirements not my insurance, well I had to have the psych eval though. I am hoping to get a January date. I would love to start the new year working on a new me. Good luck everyone
  15. Yes surgery scheduled for 10/22. I am self pay with all tests completed and waiting on results and have already started my two week liquid diet. Getting very excited thinking I probably should have done this years ago. I hope I will be saying that after surgery as well. Only problem I seem to be having is being tired/low energy and I probably need to keep a better count of my protein intake. Would love from other georgia folks as well.
  16. Just started my 2 week liquid diet 3 days ago. It is so hard. I have my surgery scheduled for Sep. 7th every day I can't help getting nervous and scared. I can't stop watching all the negative videos on YouTube. If anyone has anything to help ease my craziness lol, I would truly appreciate it Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Initial consult friday!!!! Nervous

My initial consult was a couple weeks ago. First they had me fill out a 300+ questionnaire for the psychologist. Then I was weighed/measured. Then the surgeon came in and talked to me about what surgery I was considering, asked if.i had questions, talked answered all questions, talked about general info about surgery, then I met with the dietician who talked about my history of weight loss/gain and overall history. She talked about getting prepared for surgery and informed me of the 2 week pre-op diet that I would have. Then the fun part. The psychologist. This guy sucked at his job, he concluded that I wasn't crazy! Lol but seriously he asked about a half hour of questions ranging from expectations of surgery, personal history, lifestyle, substance abuse etc.. Then I met with the nurse practitioner who talked about the process going forward and asked if I had dates in mind. Then they let me go home. It was a two and a half hour visit. Not too bad at all. Worst part was the dumb questionnaire! I actually took a picture to show my wife. Enjoy! Lol

    my docs VERY strick diet

Shuzy, You need to check out one of the posts on the support forum. I think the title was something about Not losing. Someone several replys down posted a "stage" plan where the first stage is just Water, second stage is clear liquids, next stage is thicker liquids and so on. This person indicated that as soon as they felt they were tollerating the current stage well they could try the next. If they had trouble they were to go back a stage for a few days then try again. I did the liquid for 2 weeks and I was starving. I was really low on energy. I started putting chicken in the blender to mush it up and then thought this is rediculous, so I just tried chewing it very slowly and I did fine. Being on solid foods and more Protein has made all the difference. Now I have all my energy back and am exercising twice a day. I don't understand the philosophy of putting yourself in starvation mode. That defeats the purpose of eating less.

    my docs VERY strick diet

Let me guess ... you must be a Fox patient! I've spoke to others in this field and they all say the same thing, that Fox "tweaks" the diet to call it his own. I've heard his patients are more successful ... but then again ... there are many Bandster Pros out there that aren't with Fox and they've done great! Fox also says no sugar, no milk and only eat what you can fit into that tiny medicine dispenser cup ... 2 oz? I felt a few things about his plan were absurd, like staying on a liquid diet for 4 weeks post-op. Most everyone is HUNGRY and want to chew food again by that time! I know someone else that has went through him and never did stick to his "special" diet ... and she lost all her weight in a good amount of time and looks terriffic! 23. I didn't have this problem but the nutritionist I saw did tell that she's had to tell some patients that they CANNOT lose any weight during the three month dietary visits.

OMG - I've got a Date for surgery

So as of yesterday, I had figured I wouldn't be ready for banding until late May or June. Rachel the nutritionist told me that she would send my paperwork over right away, but the decision could take up to 45 days to be made. Yesterday, I called the doctor's office and asked if they could let me know if all of my paperwork was in and if it wasn't I could get it rolling. Amanda called me and left me a message at home to call her so I called her this morning and she called me back. One of the first things, she asked me was "When do you want to have surgery". I was shocked, I had my mind set on a few months from now and here we were setting up a surgery date for 11 days from today. :clap2: I picked Brian's birthday the 24th over waiting a week till the 30th. They do the surgeries once a week, usually mondays. A. I'd always remember my surgery date B. I'm not so busy at work after the 24th C. I want to get this rolling. I'm sometimes afraid of failing this. But I have to think positive. It will all be worth it in the end. My goals are realistic and I feel ready to exercise. Brian changing his lifestyle has changed my life as well. Both for the better I believe. I don't have this dark gray cloud hanging over me and anything is possible. There is hope again in my life where there has been none for a long time. This is going to be the Best Year of My Life !!!!!
