    Anyone dealing with SAD?

I'm having the same problem. Lets blame it on the weather. Ha ha. I have found myself in a funk and haven't worked out in two weeks but today i taking my butt to the gym today! I gotta shake this feeling and working out make me feel good, so back to the gym i must go. But cuddling in bed sounds soooooo good right about now. Fight the feeling, this will pass soon1
  2. Just thought I'd write about my getting pregnant. I have been banded one year and the surgeon says I can keep my fills in as long as I'm not having trouble. In May I turned 34 and thought good grief, I just don't want to wait any longer to get pregnant......but I am not married. So.....I made an appt with a fertility doc and found a sperm donor through a bank. I called the doc on my start of period, 7 days later I started ovulation pee sticks, then I got a positive and made an appt with the doc for the interuterine insemination. First try did not work, second one BINGO! I am now 8 weeks pregnant and have seen the baby twice on ultrasound.....everything looks good so far  Question: in your first trimester did your doc say it was ok for the flu shot? I work in a hospital and the fertility doc said yes, get it, and the ob doc said NO! not until after first trimester. I am worried about the flu as I am around sick people all the time. Studies from march of dimes and hopkins say it's fine during first tri......just curious what you were told? thanks

    Stalling

Mine was 4 weeks and I was not eating enough and exercising too much. I added more protein and backed off my exercise from 1 hour per day to 45 minutes. I broke my stall within 2 days of making these changes.

    Move Forward?

My boyfriend wasn't 100% on board when I started talking about it, He was the same way,"why don't you just diet and blah blah blah" And I was like, You have been living with me for three years, You know how I eat! I eat very little, and mostly well, I go to the pool three times a week, and I'm not losing nearly enough to be healthy. I told him that I would like his support, but I'm doing it wither he likes it or now, because I want to be healthy, and have children, and I don't want to die by the time I'm thirty, and If I'm not dead, I don't want to be living only by a case of medication. After I exploded all of this, (and cried a little) He got on board, He's coming with me to the dietitian today, and said that He'll even start dieting too, not as hardcore as I am, but eating clean, healthy foods, and no more fast food. (he could afford to lose a few lbs. also) But If he loves you and wants you to be happy, He will come around.
  6. Hi everyone, I was banded on Dec. 1, 2008 and have had 3 fills since then. I had my last fill almost 2 weeks ago and have had some issues and was curious if anyone had any suggestions. Since the fill periodically I have had the gurgling, and just can't seem to get much food in. I don't have this happen all the time, its spuradic. Maybe one day dinner is hard and when I eat just a little bit I get a tight feeling and the gurgling. I am thinking its irritation, but not sure if it means I am to tight. I am getting a little concerned because I have never had this before with any of my other fills. I am concerned that I'm not eating enough and not sure if this is normal. Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Jennifer

This is a new one for me..

Sorry to hear about the personal stuff going on. Never easy to deal with. That aside..I think the lack of appetite may be partially expected at this point in recovery. I say this because I also have hit this same thing...without all the stress that your dealing with. I saw my bariatric dr and RD and they both said that it was normal at the 8-10 month post op stage. They said that tastes have changed dramatically and things are beginning to go back to normal at that point. So it's just your bodies way of balancing out. I've had zero appetite for weeks now. It's been a challenge for sure. I went back to 2 shakes for Snacks and 3 small actual food chewing meals. My program wants us eating only 3 meals...any needed snacks need to be liquid...so I stick to that. But... My meals now are small for sure...maybe 4 ounces at the most. Greek yogurt with Protein low cal low carb granola mixed in for Breakfast....lunch maybe a few ounces of chicken breast with a few small pieces of fruit for lunch, dinner I'm not hungry at all...so then I usually will have some nuts with cheese. Or half an avocado with some protein. Hope some of this helps.

    Freaking out a little bit...

I am 4 weeks post surgery, I was unsure all the way up to surgery and even after. I remember calling the Doctors office saying what did I do ( I hungry I want to eat food, I'm not going to be able to do this.) of course they laughed and said you will be fine and encouraged me to call any time I needed too. ( and I have). I didn't know anyone that had had the surgery either, but, I did a lot of praying and decided that this was not for vanity but for health reasons and decided to wrap my arms around it and adjust. I will say the surgery is the easy part. Make sure you follow the instructions to the tee. Prepare to do a lot of walking It helps with the gas pains. Do all of your grocery shopping before the surgery. It makes it easier. Four weeks after I have already lost 23 lbs. Still a little nervous about not knowing all the right this to eat, but feeling a lot better about my decision. Good Luck tomorrow!

    Struggling!

Each doc's nutritional requirements are different pre and post op it seems. I was on a low carb diet for two weeks before the surgery and was just required to have a light dinner before 6pm with no liquids after midnight.
  10. Hi, it's been a while since I've posted. I'm doing great at just about 9 months out and about 93 lbs lost. I'm going through some serious personal crap right now, divorce, etc and in the past I always turned to food. I don't think I've ever lost my apatite in my life. But for the last few weeks I just do not want to eat, to the point of feeling hungry... I never actually feel hungry anymore so this is a foreign feeling for me now. I literally have to force myself to eat. I have absolutely no idea how to manage this. I just don't want food of any kind. I have been losing at a rate of 2-4 lbs a month for the last 2-3months but I've lost about 8 lbs in the last 3 weeks. I havent seen loss like that since the first 5 months out but I'm afraid when my apatite returns I'll gain it back. I feel so trapped in this backwards food cycle, uncharted territory for me. Has this happened to any of you, and how did you deal with it? Thanks
  11. Give yourself a shout out because we've made it over one of the biggest hurdles of this journey. Wooo whoooo!!!!

    Day 7 concerns

Are you tracking your calories? At a week out, you're probably not getting much over 500 calories a day. Logic says that consuming only 500 calories a day, you're going to lose weight whether you want to or not. But, your body is freaking out, right now. It doesn't know what you've done to it. It has to adjust to its current condition and then you will start losing again. Stalls - and even slight weight gains - are a normal and expected part of the process. If you're going to weigh yourself everyday, then you need to come to terms with this fact. The scale is going to go up and down, but the overall trend will be downward. If you're making yourself crazy with it, then switch to once-a-week weigh ins.

    Day 7 concerns

Stop weighing yourself everyday. Try to cut back to once a week. Everyone fluctuates all the time, I can easily gain 5 lbs in a day and by the next morning it be completely gone plus some. Also, you will experience "stalls" at times. You won't loose weight and may even gain a couple lbs over a week or so. It also will pass. Just stay focused and follow your plan and you will loose weight. Best of luck to you!
  14. I'm with you this week, too. Craving anything and everything. Hot herbal teas help me somewhat, at least while I'm drinking them. Current fave is Peppermint Bark by Bigelow teas with a little stevia and milk. I do think your brain would just rather eat than do that darn paper. I get that way at work when I'm doing quarterly reports or other fun stuff. Get all sorts of visions of sugarplums dancing in my head. Enough to make you want to scream! Good luck!

    The Point Of Truth

I feel your pain. I was sleeved may 15,2012 and my surgery weight was 127.8 now I am 116kg and nothing I hear everyone worried about only losing 40 60 pounds in 4-8 weeks then hit a stall me I've only lost 11kg and hit a stall, got sick and gained weight back! I am on iv not eating but drinking lots, it gets depressing
  16. Hello all, I've been lurking for a while, but I felt the need to post today. I was banded on 4/30 (a week ago today) and am doing quite well. The question is, up until day 5 (Saturday) I had to sip all liquids s-l-o-w-l-y or I'd feel like it was backing up. Even Water. Suddenly, on Sunday I was able to drink much faster. Today, I can practically gulp my ensure (relatively thick) without any issue. Could my band have slipped already? I'm starving all the time and nothing in my liquid diet arsenal seems to help. Any advice would be so greatly appreciated!!

    Clear proteins questions

My first week of Clear liquids, I was allowed Protein shakes. So it was more Water thin liquids, than clear liquids. I had Premier Protein and broth with protein powder.
  19. I'm having such a difficult time with clothes right now. I'm in between sizes and just know in my heart that I will make it to the smaller size next month. So, for motivation today I went to a normal clothing store (not plus) in the mall. I just wanted to shop by myself and have some self discovery because I'm feeling crappy about myself (stalled for 2 weeks), clothes I have are too big, next size down is a little snug. I digress, anyway this pushy sales clerk comes over and starts pulling clothes for me to try. She eyes me up and down and starts pulling sizes. I figured I wasn't getting away from her unless I left the store and she must know what she's doing since she does this all day long. I didn't leave because I have been dreaming about shopping in this store for the last 3 years. So I decide to humor her. When I get to the dressing room, I discover that she pulls a size bigger than I am now (and remember I am close to the next size down) so technically she grabbed things 2 sizes too big. I stood in the fitting room crying, pissed off and deflated. I already have this internal struggle with my mind catching up to my smaller body. I'm working on convincing myself I am getting smaller and deserve to buy smaller clothes and then this happens. Has this ever happened to anyone or is anyone else feeling out of sorts because you are in between sizes? I'm in a funk and shopping didn't help so maybe your words of wisdom or similar stories will. Help!
  20. I've got my mind set, money in the bank (I am self pay), care credit approved for fees, preop foods bought. I called the surgeons office today to make my appointment and they took my name/ number to call me back...well, it's almost 6pm here in GA so I guess I won't get a call back today...and the waiting continues I am soooo psyched! It's finally about to happen! I worked 5 (12hour) shifts last week to save up the final money I needed. Super thankful for this opportunity and the support I've already gotten on this forum! Hoping to post a surgery date tomorrow!

    I'm new with questions

I have Aetna. My coordinator was the one who informed that I was approved however my friend/co-worker found out from Aetna because she beat our coordinator to the punch. She did like I did, called Aetna every two days for an update. We both had a response in one weeks time. Good luck!
  22. Not complaint, I know someone can relate. I'm so happy with progress so far
  23. Why do you say stalled? I see consistent weight loss

    Waiting Waiting Waiting

She asked that I give it until the end of the week. I've done that so I will call again Monday. I'm in no big hurry now. I've conceded the fact that my date won't be until late June. Now to try and keep this weight off. I've fallen off the wagon.
  25. First up I finally was approved for surgery! I got a call Wednesday that it was denied. My doctor must of given em hell as I got the call this morning that they reversed the decision and my surgery is indeed on March 14th! Whoa! Also wanted to share a sale on premier protein shakes at Sam's Club. They are 12.66 for a 12 pack. There is a limit of three per member which sucks but still worthy if you use them. They have a lot of protein type products on sale too. It started on the 28th and I do believe runs until the 25th of March.
