Thanks for asking! I'm 2 weeks post/op today. I'm sore still due to hiatal hernia surgery at same time (I didn't know I even had one-discovered I have 3 hernias, actually! The other 2 will be fixed after I lose 100 lbs.-fun!) I returned to work last Mon. 10/22- too soon! Came home in tears, back to dr. on Tuesday and he said I was fine, I didn't tear anything (thought I did!), but I went to work too soon. He recommends 2 weeks off work and I tried to do only one. My bad! My empire BC BS is NY state employee (NYSHIP)-I'm civil service, secretary at elementary school. This surgery not only saved my life I believe-it is giving me a life! How I was living before last August was not living-it was a slow, pound by pound suicide! good luck! I am here for you!

Hi, my name is Theresa Bailey. I live in Magnolia, DE. I had my surgery in Aug. 21, 2015..My SW was 250 CW 217. I only average 1.5 a week. A lot people claim it is because of my age. I am 5'4, and 64 yrs young. I have two major stokes and unfortunate for me they had me a lot of steroids and other meds that assisted my weight gain, (of course the rest of my own doing. Can someone help with the best ways to help boost my lost..I have registered to join the gym..any thing would be helpful..

Just ate my last supper before preop diet tomorrow. Makes it so real, it's freaking me out. Surgery day is thurs 10/3. I have 4 days of nothing but clear liquids. I'm scared of messing it up and ruining my surgery so I will be strong. My hubby is doing it with me believe it or not! Isn't he the best! Well see how long it lasts before we kill each other lol. So I just have to cook for my 5 year old. I've noticed a lot of us our going this week so good luck to us all and best wishes for speedy recoveries!

Been lucking around and finally got the courage to post my story and ask my questions So i finally decided to take control of my life I'm hopping this surgery all works out for me I've been on the yo yo diet since jr high at my most I was 5'5 330 lbs 1.5yrs ago but finally opened my eyes when I could not fit in the Disney rocket ride with my 1 yr old and I knew I had to do something about my weight or I would not be around for my family, that same week i was passed on a promotion at work and found out from co workers that our boss didnt think i would be able to "fit" in the sewers ( i work in sewer rehab construction ) as of today I'm 232lbs Ok so I have my surgery scheduled for 3/18 with Dr Ortiz and Dr Lopez, any way I have to go on a pre op diet of Protein Shake for Bfast small fruit for snack, Protein shake for lunch and for dinner chicken breast grilled, then 3 days b4 the 18th I need to do an all clear liquid diet along with a cleanseing. So my question is did you guys have a last hurrah and if so what did you have? I so want to have a last hurrah but I just don't know if I should since that's really what got me here in the first place. All comments are welcome, sorry if I'm posting in the wrong section

Just got approved for VSG last week and am scheduled for next Monday--4/25. Have gained weight since process started in 12/10 and was chastised by surgeon. Will start liquids tomorrow. Has anybody else had weight gain and then gone thru surgery? I'm less than 300 lbs and am nervous now.

I had to wait until insurance came back with the approval to get on the surgeon's schedule. My turn around was a week. I very sweetly called insurance daily.

If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you always got. My thoughts, cereal, bread, crackers, pizza, cookies, cake, have no place in my home, 3 years since surgery. If it were here, I might slip. No, I would slip. After the sleeve you really can eat all the cereal you want, you can eat pizza every day of the week. You can eat it and never lose weight. I dearly love homemade biscuits, gravy, and chicken and dumplings like my Mother taught me. I really miss them but I could not wear my new clothes if I eat them. It is a choice. Make sure you are ready to change your life. Good luck girl!

I use myfitness pal. I don't track any food on MFP, I'm too lazy for that, but I weigh every week and when i tracked my inches I put them in there. I don't think it stores pictures though. Maybe SparkPeople does?

What happens after surgery
gator6.7 replied to Itsnicoleee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey! First off, don’t worry, you will be fine I promise.. I have serious anxiety as well but I’ve been able to remain calm through all this. I am 1 week post op as of today. I’m gonna be honest, my stay in the hospital was pretty bad. I have a high pain tolerance but this hurt me like hell. I felt crappy for the first maybe 3 days. I feel great now, I have no limitation besides not lifting over 30 pounds. I think you will struggle with having energy though. I have no energy right now. I would say 2 maybe 3 weeks you’ll be back at work. Good luck with surgery! -
Lapband Newbie - awaiting first aftercare appt

My doctor said the same thing, walking or stationary bicycle until six weeks, then I could do more strenuous work and weights. -
I never had a cpap but there are quite a few nights where my sleep is totally not there. I get up at 4:30a.m. for work, I workout a hour before work on my treadmill or eliptical etc., when I get home after work I walk my dogs for a hour so I am getting enough exercise to sleep for a week straight - LOL. When I finally sit down around 7 -8 pm. I fall asleep for about a hour or two and that messes me up once I wake then it is very difficult to get back to sleep. I am usually up from about 1:30 to 3:30 most nights. Do you exercise at all? I know when I was doing yoga I would sleep like a baby every night. I think I am going to start the yoga again on Wii. It sounds like the cpap is making you uncomforatable !!!

One more question about feeling the band...
kiz replied to kristik99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The band is higher than you might imagine, as is our stomach. Starting mushy foods in a week is a little quicker than most, but I'm sure it's not all that unusual. Since you obviously still have swelling, could you stand to go back on liquids for another week? You might feel better. -
Ok I thought I was going to have my surgery this week but I have had the cold from hell for the last couple weeks and can't breathe for anything! We rescheduled surgery for may 27th after my hubby graduates college and can stay home with me and be at the hospital with me. New countdown and gotta make more check up appts with everyone I saw already but I'm just glad everything's set up and can start to make this change! I'm so excited! It's still a while away but I cannot wait to do this

How did you all decide on what Protein powder was best for you? Was it merely taste, price, or actually looking at protein grams? I've been researching and looking at labels for the past week and I'm starting to become very overwhelmed and stressed out! Surgery is scheduled for 9/26, I only have to do a 2 day clear liquid diet but I want to start 1 week before on a liquid diet Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Is your preop diet all liquid? I was able to do a Protein shake in the morning with fat free milk, a Protein Bar for lunch (Quest bars are good) a shake for snack then dinner which I stuck to chicken and fish with a mix veggie or broccoli. I would suggest cutting out one meal not and doing a Protein Shake replacement to get use to the process. I did three weeks of the preop diet. I did two shakes a day and for dinner ate what I wanted but not a overload of food. That was for the first week.

lizag234 replied to baileyj908's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The whole process was fairly quick. I started late Aug and received the surgery late Oct. My insurance was approved in three days. The process went fairly quick maybe a little too quick for me it was surreal. They weren't too strick on pre weight loss and I didn't need to do the liquid diet. -
Hi, I'm new.
Sparklette replied to Alexandria Hashagen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a week in to my liquid. The first few days weren't too bad, but now, I'm going crazy! Thank God for sugarfree pops! -
Hi Peeper, up in snowy Scotland myself and have friends go via the One Stop clinic. If I remember right they had a psych evaluation, blood work, ECG, drugs test, endoscopy, colonoscopy if needed. 5 week liver shrink diet and classes to attend. Now that's up here and his insurance via his work was strict for tests but all fine. Were you notified of any tests needing done? Fridge Pickers Wear Bigger Knickers [emoji200]

My surgery is scheduled for next week, and I am having the same feelings. I obtained insurance approval very quickly (only 3 days), so I didn't have a lot of time to mentally prepare. I am definitely nervous, grouchy, worried, and excited all at the same time. I think what we are feeling is pretty normal.
