So tired of the bickering on the forums. It's making ME cranky and I'm not a cranky person by nature. Peace out, people, I need a break from this bs.

My surgeon said I had to wait a year bc of transfer addiction concerns. As food addicts we are very susceptible to transfer addictions especially with alcohol. Jenn

Oh wow!!! I'm sure you have lost more than me. I just started losing weight bc I had so much fluid. Yes, I eat a ton of cheese and meat. They want me to add more vegetables but I'm so concerned with getting in the protein...I don't get a lot if veggies in. Are you doing ok since the surgery?

@@KristenLe I honestly think this is a prank... If it's not, it really doesn't even merit a response at this point. If the OP didn't care enough to read her post op instructions or listen to her NUT, then I don't care enough to offer a response. For people with honest, heartfelt questions, I will give all my time. For posts like this, well, it's just a waste. I'm excited for you to finally get sleeved - bc you are an EXPERT at this point and are going to be so successful!! Attitude Adjustment

I know how you feel. I'm having an awful day. Yesterday was bad as well bc I was real nauseous yesterday. Usually it's triggered by something greasy but all I had was eggs and a protein shake. The dr prescribed me meds for the neausa. Hope you get to feeling better. -
I am still in Mexico...day 3! I am doing excellent. I am one of the lucky ones who have done really well. I have had zero nausea and very little pain. I didn't have any of the gas pain that I have read about others having and have seen others here have. What I am feeling is more like I have had a really good ab work out. I was up right after surgery and felt good. I am sipping my Water and drinking my delicious chicken broth. I took a shower today and fixed my hair and put on make up and I really feel fine. The doctors here are excellent! Dr. Aceves is wonderful. He has been in to check on me a bunch of times. Dr. Compos is here almost all the time and answers every question I have and is one of the sweetest most wonderful men I have ever met. He was also sleeved a couple of years ago. He is excellent. The hospital is very clean. Everyone is very very nice. The only thing that I didn't like is that there is not always someone speaking English here. Not all of the nurses speak English so sometimes it is hard to communicate. During the day it's not bad bc Dr. C. is almost always here or Lucy the nurses at night have not spoken much English. For me it hasn't been bad bc I have been doing so well but I can see how it may be a problem for some. So far so good for me. I will be heading home tomorrow so I'll update when I get back. Sarah

This really isn't news to us "self-payers". We didn't go to Mexico just because of the BS we faced with insurance companies. We also went to Mexico because we got better care and service for OUR money. IMHO the future will be more of the same .

I got banded yesterday :cursing: Turns out i don't have a hernia (the results were shoing something else) so i ended up going home the same day. I don't remember anything! I just remember them saying that i will fall asleep in a few minutes and I don't think i even heard them say the word minutes..i was out. i hope up with lots of pain in where my port is and extremely sleepy. I slept the entire day yesterday. Took more pain killers around 10 and now i am up at 1:30 am. I was nervous about keeping hydrated bc i read that it is very hard to drink right after. i had no problems whats so ever sipping down 4 oz every 15 -20 min. In fact, i don't feel like i have a band in me at all just the port lol. So i am going to concentrate on the liquid diets till Wed and then I get to have some soup..yum yum. and thank god for Oxycontin!! I have been hiding from my 2 year old in the bedroom so that she doesn't jump all over me, but my dog has not left my side from the second i got home. He is so sweet..he just lays next to my stomach and is keeping it warm. ok, i am going to go back to bed and get some sleep.:cursing: -
I get that same feeling and it is usually sudden. It's just like you described, like my sleeve is screaming. It reminds me of when my kids were babies and they would go from happy to screaming in seconds only calming down when they got fed. Weird how it works sometimes, huh? I try to eat on a little bit of a schedule (not strict by any stretch of the imagination) and it seems to help. I try to eat something every three hours or so and sip between meals. Shae

honestly, I havent had my surgery yet but my close friend said she has to drink protein drinks constantly thru the day, otherwise she's pooped. She started using the body by vi shake mix bc it is the only one that gives her energy and she says tastes good, when shes at my house shes always got her shaker cup and her shake mix and a different flavor packet of sugarfree pudding mix. i asked her what the pudding mix was for and she told me that she puts a little in with her vi shake and gets a different flavor every day...so I thought I'd pass that along

Ok so i have a question for the ladies... I'm currently off bc but I have an appointment on the 29th to have a mirena kid put in. I am two months out and doing well with my weight loss my concern is that the our will cause the weight loss to stop or cause a gain! Has anyone had surgery then had an iud? If so what was your experience with it? Did it slow the weight loss? Was the pain of the insertion bad? I just wanted something more reliable than the pill. Thanks for your help!

Blue Cross Anthem Question
PATCHELTON replied to Jillbeme65's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A word of caution about calling the insurance company. I have Blue Choice (BC HMO in Maryland), and I called them to see if they could tell me anything. The service rep told me I would probably be denied because I went out of network for my psych eval and dietician. I used the members of the bariatric team; those two were not in network. However, out of network just means you pay the bill. I also argued that (I had to do a 6 month documented diet--used the bariatric dietician to supervise that) they accepted documentation from Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, LA Weight Loss, what difference would it make who supervised my diet, as long as I had documentation. I had paid both out of pocket. He assured me I would probably be denied. So as I am having a meltdown, trying to call the surgeon's office, they were at the same time trying to call me to tell me I had been approved. Having had this experience, I would be more likely to bug the surgeon's office. If they are an experienced center, they have dealt with all kinds of insurance, and they know what will clear and what won't. -
Still fighting the blood sugar .. help :(
Tamz posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So the blood sugar is coming down.. but not enough Tuesday it was 356...... my pcp put me on 500mg of metformin.. and Friday (yesterday) it came down to 285. He told me to start taking 1000mg starting yesterday.. and i checked it this morning its reading 256 Its down but NOT ENOUGH .. I am so scared they will postpone my surgery on Thursday. I really need some help on how i can lower this bad boy between now and Tuesday.. bc that is when my last follow up with my PCP is regarding my levels. I know i have to stay low on carbs.... but my surgeon has me on a low fat no meat (protein shakes instead) diet. and when i find things with little carbs, there is more fat....... and vice versa. I wonder what would happen if i took 1500mg of metformin instead? SOMEONE pleaseeeeeeeee help -

I'm sorry I just needed someone to talk to and the past few weeks you guys have been so great, you were who I thought of first LOL Thanks for listening....

Methadone Clinic and Lap Band
Mommyfrid replied to Mommyfrid's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow...you really helped ease my mind. I've cried about it all day because I was so disappointed. I went to the surgeon for a consult and the next month I went back and he said Aetna said 3 visits with him. I haven't lost any weight since then. He didn't even tell me I was supposed to be losing weight until last week at my visit. Lol. Dec 11 I see him for my 3rd visit and will have had my scope, ultrasound, psych eval, core testing and my visit with nutritionist Is the day before. So I will have done everything they asked me to do. That psychologist really was a b**ch. she treated me so bad bc of the methadone. Thanks for the tips. Any other info. -

Day after surgery I'm so much better!
alindsey replied to alindsey's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
@@LadyinBlue I'm not in much pain now at 24 hours after surgery. I feel sore like I did a ab workout. I have some stabbing type pains when I get up and down out of bed but they are more irritating than painful. I had horrible pain last night. Gas pain and spasms in my stomach and nausea I threw up twice it was tough. But this morning im like another person! No nausea and I'm keeping liquids down and walking I feel good enough to go home!! With the gas pain laying in bed made it worse so as the pain got worse and worse I decided I had to walk so I did and it helped so much!!! If you have gas pain and I hope you don't you HAVE to walk even if it's the hardest thing in the world! Which to me it was hard bc I was nauseated and a lil dizzy. My mom however had no gas pain or nausea. She is doing awesome only some slight pain today getting up and down but she also feels good enough to go home! -

Ok.... Taking deep breaths. I'm sure many of you have read my previous posts about my UHC hell process. I'm on the phone now to find out yesterday my appeal was denied because I didn't have 5 years of weight history! Luckily after being transferred 3x's a supervisor is seeing my frustration! I'm like I've hand fed the 5 years to them. Circled all the weights and even included all of them on the cover page of fax! Ughhhh! -
So I'm laying here in my hospital bed not able to sleep one bit so I figured I'd get on here.. I had surgery yesterday morning around 8:30am in NY I had a 9 day liquid diet where I lost about 10lbs. Surgery went great! I was so worried about a few things. One being that anesthesia always makes me throw up and my anesthesiologist assured me he'd do everything he possibly could so I wouldn't throw up esp bring stomach the odds were already against me and although I don't want to jinx myself to this very minute I have not gotten sick. Whenever I felt nauseous the nurses were right on top of it with zofran. Another thing I was scared of was having a drain tube left in that didn't happen either! I was also worried about needing a catheter but I have has no problem urinating on my own. One thing I was scared if was the Lovenox shot in my tummy even though the shot itself didn't hurt I had really intense burning afterwards whatever you do, don't rub it!!! Thank god I work at a hospital and my co workers made it clear not to rub it. The burning lasted at least 20mins and I have to start them back up this morning. I have not had any pain in my shoulders or chest from gas pains so far. They had me start swallowing my normal medications and that has seemed to leave quite a bit of discomfort each time. I normally have high blood pressure which sky rocketed while I was under and they hit under control until about 6pm tonight and it's been elevated and needed some meds. I also ended up with a terrible terrible migraine that they had to call my dr to get an order so I could take my Imitrex.i believe it as caused from taking Vicodin so the nurses got it switched to Percocet for me and dilaudid. My dr has been a,aging such great bedside manner and my 2 nurses I've had so fa have been wonderful. I was inky back in my room about an hour and started walking. I actually just did another lap around the hospital since I can't sleep. I have been able to have water and ice chips thank god bc my mouth throat are beyond dry. Today (Thursday) for lunch the dr will advance it to clear liquids crystal light jello etc and if I do ok for dinner I will be able to start on shakes and yogurt again. I'm just praying my new stomach tolerates it all ok and I will be able to go home Friday morning. All in all I believe the surgery for he has went very well and I'm not regretting it ow bit! Obviously everyone us different but I wanted to share my experience bc it helped me reading others experience from the surgery before giving mine. Sorry it's so long I wanted to explain it as best I could.

Met Surgeon, feeling dissapointed
Middus replied to lizard107's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep. It's probably BS. Go with what you're most comfortable with. It's less about the surgery and more about how we use the surgery to achieve our goals anyway..
