The journey continues...
Frustr8 replied to CelfLove's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I wake up with a query stomach, hunger, nausea or something else? Embarrassing silence, from the world, just same old same old. Reba McEntire says in one of her songs " Is there life Out,There?" begining to wonder myself. Do I get up, get a cup of liquid, start on my morning pills? Hate to do it on a totally empty stomach, cereal and eggs don't appeal much-- maybe open a,protein shake and use it to wash things down. Missed my 6AM Carafate but at 8 and 8:30 I have 8 pills scheduled, my phone app keeps going, iff to remind me. Sounds like a Pill Box shaking, still better than an disembodied voice saying " Did you forget your pills?" Oh Heckity Deckity, put my feet over the edge of the bed and stand up. IT'S MORNING! LOL- waaa waaa! -
hi, i’m not sure ... but clot wise they may give blood thinners to help, it’s a good thing to be asking the surgeon about though if they haven’t discussed it with you already. After one surgery (not wls) i also had inflatable leg cuffs on for several days which you could also query. I hope you can ask about both of the clots and gas, and they can reassure you and help you get through all of this. good luck tomorrow and in recovery

And I also do not drink, smoke or take NSAIDs any longer, to put it even more seriously I am not allowed to be in the, presence of an Active Smoker as the actual smoke as well as the residue,on their clothing could worsen mine.Makes me somewhat,of a Social Pariah, I now wear a jelly bracelet that states " Secondhand Smoke Kills" in case someone queries me. Ah, it is what it is, my friends!😭😪😥💦

Does anyone still monitor this forum?
SusieQ2019 replied to Josilyn72's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Hi Josilyn, Welcome, Can you post your questions, there are many wonderful people on here that will be glad to answer any question that you may have. Also there are many answers to question in the search query as well. Wishing you success. -
Hi all, posted at the beginning that I had bloods 2 months prior to surgery, but no-one did pre-surgery baseline bloods. Now, 6 weeks post sleeve with orders not to take vitamins until after this consult I drive 60 miles to see my surgeon, let him know I'm knackered, I have joint pain more than before, skin is so dry it cracks, open weeping in skin folds, mucous membranes so dry I'm getting lots of spontaneous nose bleeds, lips are almost blue and he says "But everything else fine?" "Good! Glad to hear you're feeling restriction and eating a good range of food" (yeah, about 1 veg/fruit a day after protein). "Come back in 3 months and we'll check bloods at a year" Seems that is down to bloods budget in my self pay package. Did query. He seemed annoyed and bored in equal measure. Am I being stupid? Is it irrational to want to get ahead of problems? Is testing now a waste of time cos nothing worth worrying about can have happened since November. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

Hi guys hope your all well. I have a question for you well experienced banders. Do you have times ( I’m mean last for days) when you feel a lump in your throat. Not at the band site literally at the back of your mouth. Ive had this a couple times before and it righted itself with in a day but I haven’t had a meal in 4 days I’ve tried to have soup but threw it back up all with this lump feeling in my throat. ive lost approx 26kgs maybe more since weigh in, so loving that fact Just wondering if anyone has had this and what your experience is with it and what it is. Cheers

My PCP scheduled me for a Bone Scan February 7th, perhaps,THIS is why; I am relatively certain he reads as much,as I Do, and folks I read lots! Self-taught at 2-and-half years, yeah you saw that correctly. I was the youngest person in my city and library to have a card, well before 4. Mama took me in there, queried the Head Librarian " How old do you have to be to receive a card?", answer was "late in Grade 1, because children don't read well until then". Mama said " But she reads already!" Librarian , her name was Miss Edwina Fitzgerald, went to reach an Early Reader to test me, Mama said :" No No, something without pictures" so a Grade 5 level was proffered, which I read 7 pages of letter-perfect, why not? One of the books I started with was the New Testament at home, matter of fact, the story in the family goes, I started learning to read because I got peeved, Mama wanted to do housework, like laundry instead of reading to ME. So-o-o! I really don't remember Not Reading that well. Any-whoo I am a RnY and 73 so Maybe It Is a GOOD THING.😝✌

What procedure are you referring to? I am a 73 (December 26,1945) RuN bypasser, we have many sleevers who are 59-68, I have an ESG friend in Dayton Ohio, I'm sure you can find lapbands who are happy still. Probably Sips , MGB, maybe Obera balloon or 2. Name your procedure you're querying about. And 99% of us would not go back to our old lives!

I have a side challenge or query Folks. Drug out this 4-5 month old for its heading, okay? HOW DO YOU SHOW STRESS? Mine is that I chew my lips, anyone who knows me notices it, last time my friend said "Frustr8, what are you upset about?" So do you break out in a rash? Had a cousin who would play with and twist the end of her hair on the left side. So tell me----What do YOU DO?

Any Netflix or Hulu Shows of Bariatric Life or WLS?
Frustr8 replied to mitchjoann132010's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been looking for a place to post my query. Maybe this is "necro-posting"but at least this thread is from 2018. I had, after my recent move, and realigning cable and other Tra La La's been offered a month trial subscription to several services. Is Netflix and the others like Hulu, Pandora worth the trouble and effort or is it a big m9neymake Spectrum might be getting a Kickback from?😫😥😝 -
Looks, Health, Mobility, Longevity.....Rank these motivations for surgery
Jobber replied to Creekimp13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is one of the best forum queries I've seen in a while, great post! Looks: to everyone that knows me, my motivation is and always will be Health, not looks. That said, I've been judged my entire life on my looks, I went bald at 20 and got fat around 30 and I've been passed over for so many promotions its not even funny. I don't care about my health if I can't get anywhere because of my looks and all the prejudging that goes on to my face. Health: Tired of being tired, plain and simple. Family: I want to see my kids grow and live life with them. Romance: Getting this big has come with a lot of drawbacks in my intimate relationship with my wife, nuff said. Mobility: I have heard about this thing that happens when you're able to do things like run and stay active in regards to keeping depression at bay. Longevity: Last but not least, I'd like to live longer but if I'm not having a better quality life by putting all the other things first, then forget longevity, which is why I've put this last. -
And babycakes, celebrate when it does and for the majority it will. You don't want to move to Stricture City with me! Oh it's an exclusive location, but. it's lonely there. You might be in the penthouse, but there are few to talk to- And every time you think you have found a buddy theirs gets fixed. You are left sad , sorrowful and querying "Why me Lord? I wanted to heal perfect too!" Well attempt #3 will be this Friday the 9th of November, 2 months, 4 days after the initial surgery. All shamans, medicine men and others of this ilk, Frustr8 wants made All Better!😷👍😪

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
Frustr8 replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Question- maybe I should already, know this answer- if so refresh my over-wheled mind. How long to you have to crush medications? I am now 3 weeks and 3 days post-surgery😷 yeah I know___ YEAH ME! Sure worked long ( over 3 years) and hard with roadblocks, nay- sayers, and a sneering surgeon and staff trying kill things before my plans finall achieved. This RnY, my last and I hope ultimate Bariatric Success! So penulimate query( gosh I love Adult,Language!) was I crushing because of size, I was told pills larger than M&M(smartie size- my Commonwealth Cousins), difficulty swallowing- that was never a problem! I could bolt foods down great abandon in unlimited foods days or is it my egg-sized pouch unable to digest and pass things along to my "jj" small intestine unless pulverized? I do recall the average stoma size is maybe dime-sized ? Now as I heal I have developed crabby crappy urine -although I am struggling toward fluid nirvana- color is still warmish and odor is strong. Tried to consult PCP, tried to consult my own urologist, transportation fouled up, both went on their weekend holiday without seeing me. So I consulted my Community Hospital ED, always an iffy choice but surely THIS is not beyond their experiences, after all, even non-bari- people get UTI. Did not want to be driven 50 miles to OSU and HAVE the people say " does your local hospital NOT know how to handle URINE?" That would be mortifying. So this AM after last Lovenox shot, Hail and Farewell, I have laid out. & planned my Zofran, teeny pill size and Ditropan, also teeny size, then to add to group Bactrim, a medium- sized white lozenge . Crush, no crush, what is the Correct answer? Frustr8 knows she can swallow Big Bad Bactrim down, but can Precious Pouch, the Queen of this Post- SURGERY adventure, handle this medication? Have a horrid mental. image of it sitting sideways straddling my stoma, on the other side I feel like I'm "grinding" my life away!. Any Veteran of The Weight Wars want to,weigh in?😭 -
Why am I losing weight so slowly
Hop_Scotch replied to virginia's weight loss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You probably haven't given sufficient information for anyone to give you query proper consideration. Just to clarify you aren't eating anything other than protein? No carbs? No fats? What dietary instructions did your surgeon / dietician give you? Has your weight loss slowed down at all or has it remained steady? You lost 85lbs all up, was the other 55lb in the immediate lead up to your surgery? How much water are you drinking? How much protein are you eating? And if you are eating other types of food - how much carbs and fats? Dairy? Fruit and veg? What type of exercise are you doing? -
Hello. I'm new. I think I'm failing...
Era254 replied to Era254's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My Doctor is being quite good and patient with mu panicked queries. He says not to worry although when I spoke to him yesterday he wanted me to cut down on my calories, something I sort of balked at, because I was at a loss what to cut out and I'm also working out for about an hour everyday :/ I just wonder if someone else has experienced something similar because it's a bit discouraging. Fat Tax on Plus-Size Clothing (but almost exclusively on women's clothing, not men's)

Does not matter about clothing size. Look at magazines and social media. We are usually the fashion spending force that keep money in their pockets. We keep up on trends have shoe and purse collections. Holy hell a $2650 blazer? are you kidding me. All depends on the designer. https://www.balmain.com/us/women/essentials -
And on September 5th your Good Wishes will help me over that hump into post-surgeryland. To answer your original query, they usually ask why you want this surgery? They want to make sure you don't want to look like a movie star, but more deeper reasons. How hard have you tried losing weight in the past? Very few people can reduce and keep weight without surgery. Do you understand portions of your anatomy won't be the same? Some people fear surgery because they look on it as mutilation of their body. Can you understand, do you feel you can follow a different meal plan the rest of your life? This is not something you do over a weekend and then go on living a careless food life. Are you frightened of dying, either on the table or in daily life. Nobody will do surgery on someone already unstable emotionally. What are your plans for the future? Nobody will perform surgery for someone who wants only to be a centerfold in Penthouse. Besides unless the photographer positions you just right you will have 5- 7 teensy abdominal scars, nobody wants to airbrush those out or use a special lens. With some kinds of surgery you are on a lot of vitamins, with every one you are on some Can you afford up to $150 a month for vitamins? You will be eating a much less copious amount of food, maybe you'll have extra money there? Most times your vitamins will be less than that amount. Most important: Be positive -Be committed - Be Friendly But,most, Be yourself, Be Yourself, the world wants and needs You. That's why you are here, there's a spot only you can fill. Check back with us often- we support your decisions- we have or will be going through all these things and we would treasure the time we spend with YOU! Frustr8 and the Bariatric Pal Crew

@jconforti, I was looking for a location to find you. Your point on "Am I the only one" is well-taken and well-stated. May I share what, happened to me once? Often if I feel I have an insight, I do post. Thought that was fine until one day I answered a query, only to be put down because I was pre-surgical, apparently this person felt only post-surgical persons should be permitted to answer. My response had been gauged on life experiences which I had felt had equal validity. Didn't post for awhile, my "newbie" feelings were wounded, and until she went, inactive I never posted again where she was at. Just wanted to share this with you, and until I upgraded to Beta app, my "trendings" never told what forum things originated from so once or twice I did post way back in the GuysRoom by accident, but not anymore. I respect the boundaries now.

Good lord, that sounds rough. Though I am curious - did you have an upper GI series before surgery? I thought it was a surgical prerequisite, and I'm kind of surprised they didn't see it then. I don't mean at all to put doubts in your head about your surgeon, but between flat-out saying he doesn't think there's anything that can be done and essentially putting you off two months before seeing you again... More expert opinion is needed, and maybe a little querying about what was seen on that original GI study.

Hi there, I'm looking to speak to some women who have undergone bariatric surgery for an article in New York Magazine to learn about their experiences. Quotes could be under pseudonyms if people aren't comfortable sharing their real names. Would anyone from your group be interested in speaking with me briefly on the phone next week? Thanks so much! Well it's so long I've been waiting, I've faced my fears, cried my tears, queried my questions ,faced my demons, called them out by name, wondered my wonders, walked and walked, longing for something to happen , instead of all this talk, Crawded feeling humbled, begging once again , if it can't get it this time, well it will be just a sin. Watched others move on by me, sometimes they gave a wave, will I get my surgery before my health turns grave? Wondering what I did wrong? I did all they said. Will I wake up , know it's finished in a bariatric bed.? Well I can't quit now, I've traveled oh so far, I'll keep on my journey until I see that shining star. Three years I've been trying, three years until the end, A long time I've been trekking but this victory I'll win. ❤💙😝💜💚

Hi I don't think I'm her. but I might be because I'm a preRnY but I got accused of chiming in too much, I accidently responded to,a lady who took umbrage with me, felt she had extends her query to post surg people only and basically told me to jump in the lake when i only tried to help. [emoji8] Oh the world is full of all kinds, I still wished her well even if our paths never cross again.[emoji26] If you ever want my,opinions on anything I'm usually lurking somewhere on B.P. just pull my chain and I'll be there! Okay?[emoji13] P.s. I am 72, red headed and spunky! Hoping for my surgery yet this spring, had to change programs (long story) but, praying this one comes through for me!
