    Horrified! Labs came back

Whoa, hold on. Depending on what came up, it could have been something you ate or absorbed in the skin. Poppy seed muffins can make you test positive for opiates, for example. I wouldn't worry though. It could be a false positive or a simple mistake.

    WHAT TO DO?

I love my sleeve...wouldn't change a thing. Only need to lose 60 lbs going in..had my surgery 10/30 and so far I've lost 34 lbs. It's a transition but I have a friend with a band and she has more problems with certain foods than me. Certain things really hurt her, as for me I can't eat a lot of anything but nothing really hurts. Love my sleeve and I'm loving watching my shape come back...slowly...this way my skin isn't so flabby.

    Progress

To be totally honest I don't keep track anymore...I know my protein intake is a hell of a lot higher then my carbs and fat intake. I know lifting, cardio and water is the reasons my skin rebounded the way it did. But everyone is different....it takes an obsession to get the results I did. I started off doing 2 a days at the gym 6 to 7 days a week. I'm now on a regular routine Mon. Wed. Fri. I do weights. Tues. thurs. sat. I do cardio and I take sun. Off. Remember cardio burns calories weight lifting and building muscle speeds up your metabolism DO NOT NEGLECT WEIGHTS...even if your a woman...women you can't lift enough weights to start looking like a muscled freak...I promise !
  6. Maybe they want you to be eating the right foods before they fill you. Perhaps showing them that you can make the right choices (Protein, veggies, salad) they will consider a fill. >>>>>>>>Well too bad becasue thats why I paid 12,000$ was becasue I couldnt do it on my own. I have never even drove a car over 2000$... this was a last ditch effort to save my life.. I am not screwing around. IF I had any control what so ever I wouldnt have got the band. Getting a fill won't make you eat the healthy foods. You can't lose weight eating cheetos and KFC even with restriction. >>>>>>>>>Yes I can.. and when I am filled right, I will keep my food journal and it wont be healthy much and I will loose alot of weight. I know I will. You will stay fuller longer if you eat protein. Try adding Protein powder to your milk if you have to drink it. >>>>Milk has tons of protein.. I comsume like 100 grams of protein a day! Atleast it will boost up the protein. From what I see, you are not eating a lot, just not the right foods. >>>>>>>>>>>>Well I usually eat more than that. Like today I have already ate (its 3:40pm) 2 cups chilli (homemade) 2 ounces garlic bread 24 ounces chocolate milk 12 ounces sugar free grape kool aid (I DO TRY) 3 bites of a filled glazy donut With the proper food choices you could be eating more, more often and still be losing weight. >>>>>>>I really do not care about more food.. I care about eating the junk I want to eat. Try to plan a menu and add eggs, meats and Protein shakes to replace the milk. I'll bet you would feel pretty full then. Don't give up. >>>>>>>>>I have tried every diet, every tip and everything known to man.. I want to eat what I want to eat.. I cannot control that.. I have tried to control that for 20 yrs and I have not and so I think I cannot. Thats why I got the band. Thanks for you thoughtfullmess... I appreciate it alot. it makes me think more.

    Onederland

I was banded on August 12th, and I've lost 19 lbs. I'm scheduled to see the doctor the end of September for a "possible" fill. My doctor said even if I was loosing only a pound a week, they would not fill me. I need to have stopped loosing all together to require a fill. I'm a little bumbed because although I lost 16 pounds in the first 2 weeks, I'm loosing pretty slowly now. I guess I shouldn't rush things and be greatful for any loss at all. I'm not hungry, I have no restriction and I feel great! What weight I have lost has just fallen off. I don't feel like I've done anything, except eat a whole lot less and not be hungry every second of every day. I could live like this!
  8. Hi Fee Very nice to hear from you. How did you manage to loose that much in month !!!! its amazing. I will be seeing my doctor end of January. I am sure that he will give me a fill as well. Have a happy christmas and a new year. nedim

    post-op scars

I had similar surgery 10 years ago for gall bladder and those scars are barely noticable. They are perfectly flat and look like lines of skin a little lighter than the skin around them. You wouldn't notice unless you looked. I put vitamin E oil (from inside a vitamin E capsule) a couple of times a week.

    Good Skin Cream?

Hi there, congrats on starting your new journey to healthy life and healthy you! I just had my VSG on 4/14/14, And I'm so excited to get healthy. I'm also excited because I'm an independent distributor for it works global. Our most popular product is our wrap, it can be worn from the neck down and when placed it tones, tightens and firms in 45 min. All the products offered by it works is all natural. Which I really enjoy! I'm amazed at the results my friends and family are seeing. I have not done a wrap because I wanted to wait after surgery because I knew I was going I have saggy skin. I believe my PCP is NUTTS!

Thats crazy... Fill you full of pills is not the answer. You are wanting surgery so you can loose weight and be accountable! The pill way is all too common and a temporary fix... Your trying for longterm and getting healthy, not pills!!

    CPAP

Hi- I got my CPAP about two weeks after my sleep study. Getting used to it IS a bit of a process. I found that wearing it while watching tv (without trying to sleep) helped me get used to the feeling of having it on and breathing through it. That way you are not lying there at night with the pressure of feeling like you HAVE to sleep with a new strange set up. Also, don't be afraid to try lots of different styles of masks, there are a ton of them and one is bound to feel most comfortable for you. My provider allowed me to return any mask I tried as long as it was under 30 days to exchange for a new one. Many online retailers are also this way, check around. Also, it sounds counter intuitive. but avoid over tightening the mask on your face. It should not be loose, but over tightening makes it both uncomfortable to wear and actually MORE prone to air leaking. Hard to explain, but true. I know you are frustrated by this hurdle (which is totally understandable!), but try to see the good in this too. Sleep apnea really IS a serious health issue. It doesn't matter if you feel "fine" when you sleep without treatment or not. Damage IS being done. You have now discovered the problem and you have a chance to adresss it not only before your surgery, but during your weightloss journey. I guarantee you NOTHING will make losing weight harder (surgery or not) than the lack of real healthy sleep that untreated sleep apnea causes. The connection between poor sleep and obesity is well documented. All surgeons are different in what they require as far as compliance with using your CPAP. Mine required a 30 day printout from my sleep doctor to show at least a 4 hour usage every night. Again, I know it is frustrating and overwhelming. (((Hugs))) Tell yourself you are going to follow this part of your journey to give yourself the very best shot at health- and when you get to that surgery day you will know you are prepared and ready to give it your all. I will be rooting for you!!! 💙

    Why are we overweight, anyway?

I had plastics - lower body lift, arm lift, boob job and a "small" thigh lift. i still have excess thigh skin but I can live with it. The picture of me standing next to the horse is what I looked like with no shapewear, weighing about 150 ish (about 10# more than the tractor photo) - pre plastics. I had a bit of a melted snowman look about me didn't I? However, shapewear completely hid that so I okay without plastics too - I just love having a normal looking body without the shapewear!

    Body Changes are Frustrating

I'm in my upper 40's and this is my 2nd go-'round with WLS. When I had Lap-Band surgery in 2005, I was younger and more "pliable". Having lost the same amount of weight with each surgery, I feel qualified to compare 30's vs 40's. In my 30s, I didn't notice any sagging or wrinkling. I was happy. I felt good, I looked good (makes me wonder how/why I allowed myself to get right back where I started, but that's another story). Now, a little over a decade later, I'm more wrinkly and saggy. Not significantly and nothing I cannot hide under clothing, but I noticed it and it makes me self conscious. I also noticed crepey skin on my thighs. Again, easily covered with clothing. But the worst by far is the saggy, flappy upper arms. I try not to go out in public without these flappers covered (hard to do in Texas 100 degree heat by the way). I started this 2nd journey with no intention of plastic surgery, but I'm telling you...when I hit my goal, I am going to see someone about these arms and if my finances allow, I'm getting them taken care of.
  17. Hey Guys, Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I am considering getting excess skin removal surgery. I have done the gastric sleeve surgery 3 years ago and I have minor excess skin in my chest and lower belly area. I was wondering If any of you guys have gotten this and what has been your experience like post surgery ( directly after surgery and healing process). Thanks
  18. Listen, here's the deal. For a lot of people, banded life is a diet with an extra helper. Some people like their bands very tight to KEEP them from eating certain things, other people have their bands loose and this means they need to struggle to control their portions. If you're concerned that you won't be able to make the dietary changes, you perhaps need to look at a different surgery, one that will actually make you sick if you eat sugar, or will make it so you physically can't eat very much. It's incredibly easy to "eat around the band." And this doesn't always mean eating sliders all day- it could just be eating "normally". This band is sooooo far from a macig pill for me

    Not so fast.....

I am at goal and currently wear a size 8 jeans for the first time in my life. If it were not for my belly which still holds some residual fat and a lot of loosed skin, I would likely be in a size 4 or 6 pants. Before my Brachioplasty 3 weeks ago, the only thing I saw when I looked in the mirror was my huge arms. Now all I can see is that double giant roll that I hide. Most people never even knew I had all this loose skin because apparently I hid it well, but I know and I know where to look. I never thought it would bother me but it does. Bring on the Abdominalplasty and breast lift! - I have to wait at least 9 weeks to move forward with those. Before:
  20. Ya I've been using it for a year and it was never evn close. I'm pregnant now so I suppose that's why I haven't been loosing much (at 9 months pregnant I don't expect to drop a ton of weight lol). But even when I was only eating 900 call a day (I haven't been sleeved yet) it would say I'd weigh 265 in 5 weeks (I was 285 at the time) and I ate only 900 cals for about 2 1/2 months straight and only got down to 272.

Scared As Hell Of Excess Skin!

For dry skin brushing I got the Yerba Prima Tampica skin brush after reading the reviews of several brushes. I love it. I also bought Ecotools Bamboo Bristle Bath Brush to use in the shower. It's great for the back and legs/feet. For a moisturizer I tried the coconut oil. It's great for really dry skin and it only takes a little. Warning: I found mosquitos are very attracted to it. Enjoy!

Scared As Hell Of Excess Skin!

My husband told me the SAME thing and he is a big guy. He likes my curves and even likes my size (I'm the first big girl he ever dated). I'm tall (almost 5'11") so I worry what that sagging skin would look like on someone my height. I've seen a few videos on YouTube but all the women were shorter than me.

36 pounds in 12 weeks is awesome! Ugh you guys are scaring me to step it up. I have hypothyroidism so weight loss is very slow for me. I still didn't think I would loose as steadily as I have been so that is encouraging. I have 30 pounds to lose and only have lost it looks like 10 (if my scale is correct) with only 7 more weigh ins to go. I don't know if I'll make it. I ordered Vitamin D pills and Iron pills because I know I have a slight tendency toward anemia.

    the drinking game

Honestly that's the one band rule I don't follow. I usually drink right before I eat. My band is fairly loose, so I don't worry about the Water sticking around and making me get full faster. The reason I usually drink right before the meal is that I haven't remembered to drink water for a while and I want to get it in before I have to wait after eating for a while.
  25. What are you guys doing on loose days? It seems on those days I'm absolutely starving and I have a hard time staying below my daily calorie goal.
