  1. Hey DB,

I was so happy to hear from you. I am grateful all is going well for you right now other than being a bit sore. It does get better believe me. I am sure its not as bad as you thought it would be, huh?

I saw my surgeon yesterday for my 2 week post op visit. He was pleased that I have lost a total of 32 lbs now. I go back to see him on 4/28 for my first fill. I am able to eat soft food and I have no restriction on the band but I am really not hungry most of the time. It took me a good week to feel normal again. You will be back to normal in no time at all. Thanks for letting me know how things went for you- Lighterload

  2. hey Sherry,

How is ur progress going? Mine seems to have come to a stand still!!! I can eat anything i want, i have no probs with bread or rice and seem to have No restriction!!! I get my first fill on April 21st and can't wait. I was out at the shops the other day and was so hungry so i went to subway and had a low fat 6 inch sub. Thought i would just eat as much as i felt comfortable eating and leave the rest..... it was then i realised i could eat anything. I ate the whole 6 inches. It was so yummy... but i did feel guilty. My will power is slipping and this is precisly why i got the band, i can't seem to stick to a diet for more then 6 weeks. I really need band power now... i hope the 1 cc fill helps a bit and can't wait till i have more fills. I will have one bad thing... an easter egg. Happy easter and i look fw to hearing from you, i'm sure ur doing better then me. i think i'm down about 20lbs.

  3. Hey! good for you!!! Yeah you should definitely lose those 2 lbs by the end of the week. I just had my 4th fill yesterday and it is pretty tight so I am hoping to lose at least 10 lbs this month. My last fill i didnt feel any restriction so I only lost 2 lbs...my 16's would have been loose by now!...So I am teetering between my 18's and 16's. I am working on my 10 lbs this month and a definite size 16. Let's do it!

  4. Hi Shelley! I have been crazy busy the past 2 weeks. I had to go out of town to visit an ill relative, then the next weekend I went on a weekend scrapbooking trip and now this week my daughter had surgery to have her adenoids removed...so....hopefully I'll have some me time now...Laura

  5. sounds like you're doing well. i'm good... i went to the movie tonight with a friend and about half way into the movie, i got a pain in my shoulder that would not go away until i was home and laying down again... i wonder if some of my sitting pain is due to the fact that i'm so short? who knows... i'm really doing good other than random pains.

i still have to remind myself to eat, i have always had the problem of waiting until i'm starving to eat... like today, even though i got up and moving around 8 am, i didn't have my first protein shake or anything to eat until 4 pm... why i wait, is beyond me. i guess i will need to make an appointment with the nutritionist.

anyway, glad you have the extra time off, my 2 week follow up is the 13th also, but i'm scheduled to go back to work on the 14th. we'll see if i'm ready or not! :-)

    have a great day!

  6. Hey Sunshine... how are you doing? Im having a week here, kids are on a roll for some reason and determined to make me lose my ever loving mind. Want to get together sometime this week and do tea or something?

  7. okay lady i had my 4th fill yesterday and i'm down another 3lbs. so i'm 2lbs away from 240lbs and being on this 48hr liquid diet i should be there by the end of the week. and i can feel these 18's getting loose now, we need to set another goal now !

  8. Last week was the roughest thus far. I had so many things try to knock me off track. I just got in my car a drove the feelings away. Had a fill of 3.5cc, and feel like nothing was put in. So I am trying to reach doctor. I guess we will all have those times in this journey. I still have lost 17 pounds, and do not regret a minute. Some days are going to be harder than others. How are you? Sorry I haven't been on in awhile. Crazy at work. Take care and hope you are doing great.

  9. I left a message on your post about going to liquids. I came to take a look around your profile to see when you were banded compared to how much you've lost. Its barely been 4 weeks girlie - you're doing great. You're averaging more than 4lbs a week. That's AWESOME! Like I said - you should be losing about 1% of your weight a week. which is about 2.5 lbs. You're doing almost double that. Don't feel discouraged!

  10. Hey girly. I have not been on here in a while. Got my first fill last week. I am down 15 pounds. Feels good. How are you doing?

  11. yay! the scale is still moving for me, sometimes i think it isn't but when i look back over the past few weeks and months, it definitely is averaging 2 pounds a week! i am in a tight 12, but a 12 nonetheless, and i want it tight now so that i won't have to buy new jeans for awhile!

my mom is doing well! she started chemo and is doing better than most with that, as far as not being nauseated. thank you so much for keeping her (and me!) in your thoughts/prayers!

  12. hey Tig,

Well here it is 10 days post op and I am feeling great. I was unable to contact anyone prior to this since my internet service was out for almost 2 weeks. We are back to normal now.

I do not feel surgery was bad at all. I had no gas pains as most talk about just had a very sore tummy, like I did about 400 sit-ups. I was not hungry until about 3 days ago and I am now starting on soft foods. I see my surgeon on Tuesday and it will be back to work for me the following Monday. I had lost 21 lbs pre op, on that liquid diet and I will be anxious to see how much more I lost since surgery on 3/25/09. Keep in touch- Lighterload

  13. Hey DB,

Is your surgery stilled planned for next week? I am 10 days post Op and I have to tell you, it was not that bad at all. I was vomiting for two days post op but its been all up hill since. Lost 21 lbs pre surgery on that 21 day liquid diet. I see my surgeon on Tuesday so I am anxious to see how much more I have lost. keep in touch- Lighterload

  14. Dear Terel, I loved your pix because you look happy and having fun, as it should be. I see you are a nurse which probably means you have put a lot of other people's health ahead of yours at times.I was born in 63 so we are close in age. I havent had the courage to take recent pictures yet, let alone put them up. I dont have a date yet but I am going in on thursday next week and hope to get one then! I will be cheering for you! Cali

  15. Hey girl...thanks for the support! Next week is a new beginning! Surgery isn't as bad as you're probably imagining (I've had others). And what's a few days of pain to a cop? I know you're tough! This will add so much happiness (and length) to your life...DO IT NOW! Hey, you'll probably be in the April gang with me! I want you fit when you're running after my purse-napper! My nephew is an 'Explorers Captain' in HS, graduating this year and then off to become an officer! Hope you find work soon...that would suck to have to repeat training!!! Hang in there and keep bloggin'! -BG

  16. Good luck on your consultation next week!

  17. I was pretty sore for about a week. What helped me was to keep moving, walking a lot and of course my pain meds :). I do hope you feel better and congrats on being banded.

  18. Hi,

I had my surgery on 2/23. At my pre-op appt I weighed in at 264 and as of today I weight 244. I'm not sure what to expect I have had one fill aready but I feel I still can eat a lot so I 'm in for a second one next week. I would love to know other peoples experiances have been

  19. I would rather eat my calroies than drink them. I run on the treadmil for 2 miles at lunch and then do a 50 min workout at home. I will do 100 sit ups before I go to bed at night. It is all in what you put into it. I had a little trouble when I went in to get a fill. I was 5 months and just going in for my first fill. They found out that my port had flipped and I would have to go back in for surgery to get it stiched back in. After the revision surgery (two weeks later) I was able to get my first fill. After the fill I kept having problems with certain foods. I would have to throw up about every other day. I told my doctor and the suggested that I come in to have some fluid taken out. The doctors weighed me and found out that I was losing 5 lbs a week. Which is great weight loss for me but I told them I would rather not lose it that way. So they took out .10CC of fluid and I have been doing great again! I am on my average 3 lbs weight loss a week and I can eat anything so far.

  20. Hi, good luck on your surgery day and pre opt diet. I lost about 13 pounds before surgery, but most of that came off in the last week before surgery. You will be so happy after you have the surgery. I was in a little pain for a few days, but kept moving around and that really helps. I am about 3 weeks out from surgery and feeling great now. I have a little pain in the port area. That is normal. Good luck and keep me posted on how you do...

  21. Thanks!!!! I really try to watch what I eat. I log all my food in sparkpeople.com. I eat very little the week after a fill and then as my restriction goes away, I start to eat more. I get fills every month and that works for me. I usually eat coffee and sf creamer for breakfast and some light/ff yogurt. Lunch is cottage cheese, some deli sliced turkey meat and some fruit. Dinner is a lean cuisine or some type of protein and veggies--think fish or chicken. I don't eat sweets and I try to keep it low carb/low fat/high protein. I also work out 3-6 times per week doing at least 30 min of cardio on the elliptical machine and doing strength training on the weights 2-3 times per week. I've lost 68 pounds since the pre-op diet and surgery on December 1st, 2008. Let me know if I can answer any questions and good luck. You're doing great!

How are you doing??? I pain has passed for the most part I got a gas bubble in my shoulder which is annoying and achy but other than that I'm doing good I got permission to move onto mussies because I wasn't taking in enough food on the clear liquid. I hope you are doing well don't push yourself either take it easy I'm going back to work tomorrow but they know whats up and are really supportive and said if I didn't feel up to it could rest or go home. which is nice I hope your feeling better now for the first week I was really kicking myself, asking myself "why oh why did you think this was a good idea?" but I feel alot better now got some eggs and cottage cheese in me made me feel alot better good luck I hope everythings good keep my up to date!

  23. Hi,

I also am at my two week preop and saw the surgeon today. I feel good just a little sore at my port site also. Now, I get to start soft foods and pureed food. Any ideas you like? I lost 30 lbs before my surgery and have lost 10 in the two weeks since my surgery.

    Good Luck!

    Terry
