Has anyone had a tummy tuck revision? My PS wants to do one in the Winter. He said he would lippo and remove more skin, moe the port, etc. I am not going to use him though since he did a poor job in April. Any advise? I am going to lose another 20 lbs before the procedure.

Gastric Bypass Surgery Complete ;-)
Malaika replied to Lisa B's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's my understanding that the sleeve removes a protion of your stomach and the gastric bypass they make your stomach smaller and reroute your intestines somehow ... I'm sure someone will explain it much better than me.:001_rolleyes: -
Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that my surgery was on Monday August 3rd. I'm 6 days post op and I'm really doing well. There were no complications and I'm drinking my Water like a Pro! I also get mushies but very very tiny amounts. I asked the doctor if I could have my Lap Band once he removed it since I had bought and paid for it, but due to Govt. Regulations he had to destroy the band. Hope your all doing well. Lisa B

Anyone From Hickory, NC Or The Surrouding Area??
MsChris72 replied to Mel119's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I live in Hickory also! My insurance just started covering the LapBand January of this year. So, I decided immediately to have the surgery. They've covered Gastric Bypass for some time now. But, I have 2 children and have been too scared of the possible complications involved with the Gastric Bypass. I recently attended the WLS Seminar at CMC-Mercy in Charlotte. I think they're the closest ones that actually take my insurance. But, I'd drive God knows how far to have this surgery! How long from when you first started this process did it take to get your surgery date? -

How long did it take to get a revision from band to sleeve if it slipped

First Thanksgiving with Lapband!!!
lauragshsu replied to lunamiah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was also my first Thanksgiving with the band. I think that I got caught up in the "pile your plate" syndrom the others had. Even though I only took small bits of what was there, and still only had half a full plate, I ate less than half of what was on my plate. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Then again, being less than 48hrs post op (for a port revision) and on pain meds might have made a difference.,. ) -
anyone else still really hungry all the time post sleeve surgery? AND does a bypass take away hunger?
heatherjudson replied to Catherine Keegan's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was never sleeved but only had bypass. My hunger has decreased and am not thinking about food all the time. I eat 3 meals and 1 or 2 snacks. Also, my tastes have changed from liking creamy fat filled foods and starches to liking more acidic or juicy type foods (think tomato soup, salad, fruit). So it was a definite win in my mind. anyone else still really hungry all the time post sleeve surgery? AND does a bypass take away hunger?
Catherine Keegan posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was sleeved in July 17 I started at 148.8 kg today I weigh 108.3kg so a respectable weight loss not the best not the worst. I'm definitely glad beyond words that I was sleeved BUT I'm always so hungry like when you're pregnant and you NEED food. It doesn't take much to satisfy me but my life revolves around food. I had hoped for a different outcome. I am thinking about a bypass now and feel like I should have gone straight for a bypass in the first place but I didn't so here I am. Any opinions or advice? Has anyone else revised a sleeve with a bypass? Does hunger improve? Best wishes to all on their bariatric journey it is not an easy choice and I have so much respect for anyone out there making these choices to save their lives. anyone else still really hungry all the time post sleeve surgery? AND does a bypass take away hunger?
JazmaniaRNY replied to Catherine Keegan's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had RNY gastric bypass just recently. I don’t get the hungry sensation in my stomach ( you know growling and noises ) but my brain tells me to eat eat eat and I just ignore it or drink fluids. It is very much a mental issue, because I am so new to this process. I am measuring my food out and weighing it just to get in the habit of eating less for once I am further out. If I finish it, I finish it and if I don’t I don’t, but after 30 mins I discard it and I don’t drink anything while I eat. I agree with what the post above says in regards to actual hunger and mental hunger. Just do your best and talk your feelings. Remember why you did this in the first place. It is a very difficult journey, but just remind yourself everyday and push through. I hope things get better for you. -
My First Interrogation
emily_0192010 replied to samantha209's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My mom and I decided that we didn't want to tell anyone (specifically my grandma) simply because we consider it to be a private thing and not really anyones business (like if I had any other surgery for any other reason). But... the hospital sent me a info packet and for some reason (our mail is really messed up right now) it was forwarded to my grandma's... and of course my grandma "accidentally" opens it and is all like "did you attend a seminar? are you getting surgery? you know bypass is the best because these people had it" blah blah blah. I ended up spending 45 minutes telling her why I was NOT doing the bypass and everything else. So, our "keeping it a secret" lasted for all of a few days lol! I am not too surprised that someone asked straight out. Bariatric surgery in general, especially by-pass, is something that everyone has heard about at some point. Match that with the general lack of brain-to-mouth filters that most people have and well... you get bluntness! Congrats on your weight loss already!! I can't wait to be where you are right now -
Yea- I tend to do too much homework on everything. When it comes to a major decision like surgery - it makes sense but it is just my personality to research all of my decisions. When I started looking into surgery - I was thinking that I wanted the sleeve as well. The more I learned, and with my other conditions.. Well - feels like each day I switch from leaning to the gastric bypass to the duodenal. Side note- this forum, and YOU, have made my weekend! I found myself today looking forward to jumping online to come here.

Today is my day revision to sleeve
tynoodles11 replied to tynoodles11's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'm sorry for the late reply. I had my band since April 2010, the surgery took 3.5 hours, he said mine was the longest and most complex revision. However, he says I still got a beautiful sleeve. Lol -
How long before food gets stuck?
pattygreen replied to lynjami's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello. I was banded on 9/9/08. If you eat slowly, like 1 bite every minute or two, you shouldn't have a problem. Remember before the band if you sometimes ate real fast, it would feel like it was stuck in your throat (chest area) and you could drink something and it would go down hard? Well, now it might feel that way if you put too big of a mouthful and eat real fast, but you can't drink water to get it down. (if you do, you'll just make it worse) When that happens, just wait patiently for the food to go through. It might be uncomfortable for a few minutes, but it will go down. I used to think that when that happened, it was a signal to me that I was full. It wasn't. I was just eating too fast. If you stick to no more than a half cup of food at a time,(at this stage) you'll know how much is ok. After I started eating solid foods, I found that I could eat anything. Only steak, pork and dry chicken were a problem. I stay away from them now. I eat approx. 1 1/2 cup of food at each meal now. Approx. 1200 or 1300 calories each day. I am losing about 1 lb or 2 lbs a week. I have not had a fill yet because I feel that as long as I am losing steadily each week, then I don't need one. Just remember, you can probably eat almost anything after you are off the pureed food, because you haven't changed the stomach by cutting it like in gastric bypass, you just put a band around the stomach to make it smaller. I am able to eat all of the same things I did before the surgery, only less of them. Don't worry, as time goes on, you will learn by trial and error these things. God bless, Patty -
I too hope I have those results...can't wait. My Doctor wants me to get the bypass but I really am wanting the sleeve. He said my reflux would go away with the bypass and it could get worse with the sleeve. We make the final decision Monday. I really don't know what to do. Should I go with what he recommends, or what I really feel comfortable with?

Husband Is Concerned With Me Going To Mexico
Threetimesacharm replied to mbabercrombie's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had a revision on Sept 10th they will look after you. It is like any other city. The Doctors are awesome and they are really skilled when it comes to this surgery, more times over than doctors in the U.S. I wish you well with your surgery! -
I talk with my dietitian often on phone. She's alway there for me. And I attend a local support group in my hometown once a month. The group is all bypass or band patients, some 4 years ago and myself, recently banded (Aug 6). Lots of wealth of information at each meeting and personal one to one talks. My dietitian also drives 1 hour and attends this meeting.

No Immune system 5 years post Op
GreenTealael replied to AussieLiz's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi there, How often do you see your bariatric team and primary doctor? How often do you take antibiotics? There could be a number of things in play but only medical practitioners can diagnosis. You may need pre and probiotics as suggested but also have a look: https://msutoday.msu.edu/news/2009/msu-professor-studies-links-between-gastric-bypass-immune-system/ Do your own research, Check in with your physicians and ask them to run more extensive testing. Safe journey! -
No Immune system 5 years post Op
James Marusek replied to AussieLiz's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi Liz I am 5 years post-op RNY gastric bypass and I rarely become sick anymore. Part of this is due to the strict vitamin regiment that I was directed by my surgeon to follow. Also, I have undergone extensive blood testing once per year to fine tweak any deficiencies in my vitamins. One thing to be aware of is that antibiotics destroy not only bad bacteria but also the good gut bacteria. So it is extremely important to reestablish these colonies of good bacteria after you complete any antibiotic treatment. This is done by taking probiotics. I have also experimented with essential oils and found them to be useful. I have developed a formula that makes me almost bullet proof for the common cold and the flu. -
I thought $5,000 was alot of $! Medicare usually pays for most of the revision for me, but I cancelled my Part B a couple yrs ago (I never once used it) and thats what covers my drs charges. The insurance coordinator estimated $5,000. My PA assurred me on the way out (in tears) that he would do whatever it took (even charge 50%) to make sure I got my revision. Now the insurance coordinator said that he never got that approved and it's still $5,000. Came up with $2500 but not the $5,000. That will be impossible. Almost impossible to come up with 50%. Good luck with ur surgery!

Revision and the honeymoon phase ?
mae7365 replied to Tracyringo's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'm only 6 months post revision, so I'm not really sure if there is a honeymoon period like I heard about with the sleeve. I too have gotten below my goal and significantly lower than I ever got after VSG surgery. But I was overweight, not obese, at the time of my revision since the surgery was done for medical reasons, not for weight loss. I really don't know why I've lost so much weight, since I feel like my insides have been healed for months. I try very hard to eat healthy and I walk 5-6 miles a day. But I would be less than honest if I said I never ate sweets, snack foods etc. I haven't been actively losing weight for the past month (only lost 1.2 lbs. in the last 30 days). I think I'm actually in maintenance, which would be great if I can just keep doing what I'm doing and maintain! If it's a honeymoon, I hope it keeps going. -
Hello group, I just wanted to let you all know that on 3/3/15 I had gastric bypass and I could not be happier or feel better! Since Tuesday, I have lost total of 18 lbs. With a grand total weight loss(including the weight I loss pre-op)of 49lbs. After few days, the results are incredible. I know everyone is not the same, but moments after waking from surgery I was up waking about. Though I had incision pains, I felt like a million bulks. Though at the time, it could have been the anesthesia talking . But really, I was walking about on the hospital floor feeling great. After being released, I've taken short walks, trying to be careful not to over exert myself, because yesterday I did and it was not fun. The only real uncomfortable part of the surgery for me has been the gas; that's no joke. But most of that has moved and I feel much better. I am so grateful that God has given me the second opportunity on life and health. For all of those pre-op. I know there are worries, I had my own and still have some, but nothing beats the feeling of knowing that this part of your life is changing for the better. I'm so excited for what the months and the years have ahead. This is the first time in my adult life I have looked positively towards the future with anticipated hope and expectation.

My original surgery was MGB, but welcome to the team! We're few, but we're good! How long did they make your bypass, do you know?

Was wondering how things are going with your unfill. I too had to be unfilled due to dilation and my surgeon says that although my pouch has gone way down it is still enlarged and that I have a slip and need revision surgery. Naturally I am worried about losing my band if they are unable to replace it.
