    I am going bald!!!!!!

My hair fell out like crazy. I never got bald patches, but my pony tail went from being the diameter of a quarter to the diamater of a dime. It was super scary! Over three years later now, and my hair is super thick again. AND THIS IS WEIRD! It grew back much more curly than before! Maybe has to do with the vitamins or something? But my hair is MUCH more curly now, and my skin is better. Used to get little red bumps on my upper arms and legs and they're all smooth and soft now. Again, maybe a vitamin thing? Give it time. Let the butterfly come out of the cocoon:)
  2. Hi all. I had a sleeve five years ago. Lost 110, have kept all but 5-10 pounds off. Surgery was fine and dandy. No issues until July 2020 i have had IBS for as long as I can remember and it got worse this past summer (anxiety issues). So I was taking Imodium a bit more often. I was active as heck this summer riding horses and paddle boarding. Eating fine (yes my stomach has stretched but nothing too crazy). One day after paddle boarding a decent amount, I was having bad gas pain. I suddenly got the worst pain I think I’ve experienced in my life right near one of my incisions. It literally felt like my gut had ripped. I waited a bit before deciding to go to the ER, but I was being woken up by residual pain. I had taken a gas x pill because right after that, I had this feeling like I needed to burp... They did a CT, no leak or obstruction. They diagnosed me with gastritis and moved on 🤷🏻‍♀️. I was in decent pain for quite a few days after, even on omeprazole. Since then the pain and tightness has not gone away. I feel like I cannot lay on my back with my legs out. It feels like I’ll rip inside. the most curious thing is there is a BALL of something in my stomach area now. A GI nurse said she thinks it’s scar tissue. Said I didn’t need to see a doctor. Nothing came up on an endoscopy. I’m writing because I’m once again having very loose stools, and gassy (burpy feeling included, but I can’t burp???), and quite a bit of pain there. I’m wondering if anyone has had something like this and if it was something that could be fixed? I’m going insane. Thanks all. ETA: with the burping feeling comes a lot of nausea as well.

I just had a full TT, breast lift and augmentation done 4 weeks ago. Very very happy w my results. He is in Round Rock Texas. Dr Mahlon Kerr. Google him and he is on You tube. He has been on TLC for removing excess skin from Bariatric patients. Love love love my results!!
  4. Best plastic surgeon for skin removal and why do you love them? Also any pricing that could be included would be great. 😊

    Pooping all the time now!

Mine have been that way now for almost the entire 6 months. It is awful. Not only is it loose, but it stinks something awful. Mine comes out of no where also. I hope it gets better for us.

    Pregnant 4 months post op

I got pregnant 5 months post op with my surprise 3rd. It is not something I would recommend as I constantly felt guilty that I wasn't able to eat or drink as much as I wanted to support the baby. At that point I still had a lot of restriction and the nausea was the worst compared to my prior 2 before WLS. My priority shifted from losing weight to sustaining the pregnancy, With that being said, I was so much more conscious of the food I did eat that I probably ate the most healthy and nutritious food to make every bite count. I was 262 before surgery and 175 when I got pregnant. I continued to loose weight and my lowest was 160 lbs at 6 months. I gained 8 lbs from there and was 168 lbs when I delivered my 5lb 15 oz baby girl at 37 weeks who was healthy. Two weeks after I gave birth I was 155 and have been about there ever since.

    Pooping all the time now!

For me, it's either nothing or all the time. I still fluctuate between going 3 times a day, very loose, or not going for 3 days (my weight curve looks so wonky because of this, lol)

    Pooping all the time now!

This is me too. My bowel motions are now several times a day and quite loose (sorry if tmi 😂) and kind of comes out of nowhere lol. I’m 9 weeks post op.

    Regain 2 years out

Summerset, thank you, I will check out Dr Weiner’s video. I’m 64, and been on a diet wagon since having babies. I’m not a big exercise person either. You read my right when you say not wanting to be on a diet. But...lm not giving up. I don’t want to continue down this road because it’s stressful to me and my body to carry the excess weight. But I cannot seem to say on a diet. Just watched Dr V and he said morning smoothie, lunch big salad, dinner meat and veggies. I think it might be simple enough for me to restart loosing again.

Sandrap31, I feel your pain. I was reading through many post and it has given me hope that I can not only get back on track but continue to loose more weight I was 264 when the door open for me to do the sleeve and I lost down to 176 but now I’m sitting at 204, and to be honest I’ve gotten back into eating processed foods and sugar. So I’m going to turn around and track eating and enjoy some exercise. Im 64, and been on a diet wagon since having babies. I’m not a big exercise person either. Major Hair Loss

I am experiencing the exact same thing and am terrified. My hair is my thing and long and curly, it's now very thin, straggly and straight. I discussed this with my dietician and I'm going on maintenance until it stablizes then I will go back on the program and loose 20 more. but slower. She said it's the rapid weight loss. I've lost 65 pounds and will be content with that for now. Right now, my hair is more important to me. I do take all the vits I'm supposed to and do get all the protein and water in and I still lost so much hair. She said I'm the poster child for weight loss surgery by doing everything I am supposed to, but without my hair, it's not worth it. She said it could take several months to start growing again. I've added more zinc just so I can feel like I'm doing something. She said it really won't help but it can't hurt.
  12. @Castrad01, glad to hear about your journey. It is heartening to see everyone loosing weight. Guess I am an anomaly. Still haven’t lost any weight further. How do you deal with stalls. Any ideas.

    6 weeks post op food

I’m also curious about the wings with no skin. I’m allowed to eat dark meat (legs and thighs), but I haven’t had any yet. Idk if I could maybe do some wings, take off the skin and eat the meat slowly.
  15. Good for you for taking this step to better yourself. I had my surgery at age 23 and I am glad I did it so young. I lost a lot of weight very quickly and I do not have much loose skin at all (I have a little of course!). As for your insurance, it really would be impossible for anyone here to say definitively either way. You said you are on month 3/6 so I assume that means that your doctor's office contacted your insurance and they gave them a list of stuff they want you to do before the surgery? If that is the case then as long as you do the stuff and get approved by everyone that needs to approve you, you should be good to go. I had Blue Cross of California when I had the surgery and I got approved right away as soon as I did my diet documentation, cardiologist visit, nutritionist visit, psych visit, and 6 months diet documentation. I think there might have been a one or two day class in there somewhere as well. My apologies for rambling a bit. I wish you the best of luck in this process! -Joshua

    February 2021 bypassers?

I am having surgery on monday 2/8. I am so nervous. I had my second dose of covid vaccine and got so sick. I could not tolerate any protein because I was so sick. I ended up drinking ginger ale and had crackers along with other non-keto items. I am so frustrated because I am 3 days before my surgery and I was supposed to loose 5 pounds. I don't think that is going to happen. super frustrated!

    Not Losing Belly Fat??

I feel for you. I am exactly where I want to be with my weight and still have some belly fat. I think it's mostly some loose skin but it looks a lot like a beer belly haha. I am at 160lbs now but even when I was very underweight, 130lbs, I still had it. I think the only was to completely get rid of it is plastic surgery. Also, while crunches are great for your core, it is my understanding that they don't actually do anything to get rid of belly fat specifically. Honestly, it is probably more noticeable to you than to anyone else. That's how it seems to be for me at least. Good luck though!

    Not Losing Belly Fat??

I'm 61, so my skin probably can't bounce back as quickly as yours. Give it time and you may be surprised. And there's always plastic surgery if nothing else works. (I'm still considering it, but I would like to talk to other men who have had it before I make a decision.)

    Not Losing Belly Fat??

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I’m am a 37 year old man. I’m pretty sure it’s fat with maybe a little loose skin. I’ve tried crunches, weights etc but nothing seems to work ☹️

    Not Losing Belly Fat??

Are you a man? I am as well, and I lost about 105 pounds after bypass surgery. I had lots of loose skin around my belly that hung over the waistband of my pants. It looked like belly fat, but it was really just loose skin. If it's any help, I'm just about two years out and it has gotten much better, although it's not gone altogether. I think it takes our skin a bit of time to catch up to the weight loss. I've been told that weight/strength training would help, but I haven't yet tried that.
  24. One month today I went in for sleeve surgery. One month....really?  It feels like aaaages ago.  What are the key notes in the past month:

    • being scared on the day was very real.  My surgeon and anesthetist were fabulous talking me through everything and listening to my concerns.
    • It was over before I knew it
    • Recovery from the GA was awful...the only time I have ever experienced anything like it.  12 hours later I finally came out of it properly
    • Gas pain is awful, but easily remedied by walking
    • Walking isn't as scary and painful as I thought, and I didn't get light headed at all
    • My water bottle has become my best friend.  I bought some new ones, one in particular with Llamas all over it 🙂
    • My husband won't let me get a pair of Llamas....dammit
    • Following my dietician and surgeons guidelines WORKS!  It really does
    • Scars on my belly are minimal due to using specific scar gel, helps healing and reduces scarring
    • If I have eaten too quickly, the best way to manage the discomfort is to stand up, or sit upright, and wait.....wait wait wait.  20 minutes later the discomfort has gone
    • Don't be scared to move to the next phase, just tiny tiny bites and don't drink with your meal
    • I have learned to really listen to my body.  Eat for satisfaction, not to be full.  The best advice I have been given
    • Don't forget multivitamins, it really does have an impact on fatigue
    • Try not to weigh daily, thought it's tempting
    • Scales are not always an indication of body change - TAKE PHOTOS!
    • My skin is quite dry, and it's loving the attention I am giving it.  Lots of moisturiser and my tan is the best it's ever been.  Not sure what the correlation is, but I haven't burned at all, just nicely browned
    • I had an initial breakout of rosacea on my face, but that is likely to be from the shock of surgery and much less food than usual.  It cleared up after a week or two and now my skin on my face is just lovely!
    • NEVER EVER trust a fart.  Not in the early days.
    • Constipation is real, coloxyl is the solution for me.
    • You don't poop anywhere near the volume you consume, I guess most of it is liquid and mushy anyway so no solids formed.   TMI I know, does anyone else miss a decent poop?  🙂

One month and I can say I feel 100% IF I STAY WITHIN MY LIMITS.  Last night we had Chinese takeaways/takeout for the first time, I had a small wonton soup (I know our local Chinese cook, they are very very healthy with their cooking methods).  I sipped away at the liquid and had a wonton.  It was so delicious that I had a second one...bad move.  Felt bloated, a little uncomfortable and had to stand up for a while.  If I had just had the one, all good.

I hope this sort of information helps others.  The nearly 13kgs I have lost has had an enormous impact on my life.  I don't huff and puff putting on my undies, clothes I haven't worn for years now fit me - just.  I can cross my legs comfortably, my back pain has gone completely...and I mean 100% goneski!!  I can cross my arms and they sit under my boobs, not on top of my bloated liver and stomach.  I bought my first bikini online.  It arrived, looks great (to me and hubby) and I feel comfortable in it at home.  I have another 17kgs to go, but I'm ok with taking it slowly.

    🙂

Us shovelers....I love it 🙂 You've made my Friday!

I'm so happy I haven't been a chucker. I hate the thought of vomiting and it was a bit of a concern of mine regarding the surgery.

I am a three meal a day girl, don't really like snacking. Been told I have to because I'm not eating anywhere near enough....it's either a feast or a famine right...ha get it! That's PUNNY.....

I think I have had one too many coffees....
