I have to do protein mostly, but I can have lean meat and veggies. But they want me to have 4 of their products per day. I'm doing my best to do that. I have still been hungry. I want to include my kale to their shake, cause I don't want to be constipated. I want to be sure to loose weight prior to the surgery, but I don't want to be sick. I'm already starting to feel nauseous. I have to eat something. It's one thing if my stomach wouldn't allow me to eat, but I'm hungry. And with this band it starts to lock up if I don't eat. That's another reason I want this thing out.

I reached a 50 pound weight loss. I am so proud. It is the little things that make me smile like - I can zip my coat, stomach not touching the steering wheel LOL, pants fitting loose and now having to wear a belt etc. I am loving this sleeve!!!

I think I am over-filled...but would you kindly read and advise?

If your dr. has a problem with you returning because you are too tight, it's time to find someone else. That would be too scary!!! My nurse said something about telling if your dehydration was getting serious by pinching the skin on your hand up and let it go....if hydrated it goes right back. If there is a problem, it is slow going back to normal. You might do an google search on how to tell if you are dehydrated.....it might help you put your mind at ease or let you know that tomorrow morning is too late. Good luck! -
Only 1cc every 4-6 weeks? Seriously?
Froggie D replied to erikaw1971's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc is conservative too. I had restiction from the surgery and was supposed to have a fill at 4 weeks. I postponed to 5 weeks and he did 1.5cc. the next one was 1cc and the third was 0.5 cc. So I have 3 cc ni my band and am still losing slowly. As long as I get all my Protein, and make it very lean, then eat low carb veggies and occasionally fruit, I am not too hungry. I do not care how I lose it, as long as it comes off. I have lost in the past, especially on low carb, high protein. I think the beauty of the band is I will not gain it back. I am trying to focus on learning how to use my band, learning new eating habits and changing my lifestyle to keep it off. I figure if it takes a little longer to lose it, it is just more time to practice!!!!!!! Also supposed to be better for avoiding the loose skin if you lose slower! -
Hi everyone, I recently had my surgery on January 12, 2011. I was doing okay until day 2 post op I noticed some yellowish/green discharge from one of my incissions. I called my surgeon right away and he prescribed an antibiotic for me to take. Another 2 days has passed and the area around the incission is really red and my skin surrounding the area is hot to the touch and swollen. The incission is still pussing under the glue. My follow up appointment is not until Tuesday. What should I do? I'm really concerned. : (

You are just about to go on solid foods. My doctor has us on "soft foods" the last three weeks. That includes things like cottage cheese and fish. I would absolutely steer clear of any breads, pastas, rice. But if there are fish dishes you can get, you can probably have those. Especially with some kind of sauce to help soften it. Don't touch any fruit with a skin (like grapes) or any pulpy fruits...that could be bad. Really, just judge the consistency of stuff and be sensible. You are so close to being on solids that if you see something you want I imagine you could have it if you are careful. To be quite honest, I followed my doctor's orders to the LETTER about the 30 days before solids. When I went in to get my fill and I told them I had just started solid foods on day 31 they were SHOCKED. They said MOST people don't follow it to the letter.

Are you getting enough liquids in? It may be affecting the moisture levels within your skin. I am a moisture addict and the past week I've been moisturizing more and actually switched to a thicker moisturizer this morning.

Hey Guys, I am newly posting but have been reading along since last year. I got sleeved on March 4th, 2020. The day I got the surgery the hospital I was in had 2 covid cases, and then the city shut down. I haven't been to a support group meeting (obviously because covid) but thank you all for your post they have been my support since. I just wanted to check in with anyone else that may have had the surgery in March to see how you are doing? I have been feeling a bit depressed lately. I don't know if it's from the pandemic or the slowing of my progress or a combination of all. I have lost a total of 70 lbs since March but I haven't lost anything for the past 2 months and it's depressing me. I did lose a lot of inches but it has been hard to get workouts in and I am getting concerned about the loose skin. I got the surgery at 243lbs and am currently 172 lbs. I am thinking of going back to a soft foods diet but I barely get 1000 calories in a day. Just looking for some other stories or support/suggestions here. BTW I don't regret a thing and good luck to everyone that is going through the process!

New to Forum - Banded December 2, 2009
Barb5227 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone - I am a 38 year old married mom of two boys. I work full time as a paralegal. I was banded on December 2, 2009, and have lost 40 pounds so far. I feel with the holidays passing by I have fallen off the band wagon and need some support from fellow band members! I didn't gain weight over the holidays, but didn't loose either. One of my concers is I think i should have lost more weigt than i have so far. I started out at 246 and weigh 203. I don't exercise and haven't found the motivation to do so. I am in a bit of a depresive slup and need help. My next issue is that I have learned what bad foods to eat that go down easily and need to stop eating those foods as well as getting out of my head that I dont need to put something in my mouth evey minute of the day like I used to feel before I was banded. However, those feelings are coming back again. I went to a support group last night for the first time and got a bit of encouragement and feel better today but need to continue the support so that is why Im here. I have a 10cc band that is filled with 8cc's of saline so i dont belive I can tolerate anymore of a fill. Any advice and encouragement would be much appreceiated! -
What do you do now? There are still some things I cannot do, e.g. skin-the-cats, but generally, if I had a dime for every day I looked at the workout for the day, thought "Holy crap, no way I could handle this," and then finished, I'd be rich.

They always say the first six months is your window of opportunity but trust me we quickly loose it's going to come off and you guys will be happy I was in your shoes before and I used to get so so frustrated with myself but trust me now just remain positive and know that no matter what you're going to meet that goal as long as you exercise eat properly

Stalls happen. It seems common to hit one at about 3 weeks out. After that you will loose a few more pounds and then stall again. Watch your carb intake during these times. Try to stay a low as you can. Up your protein, drink as much water as you can and exercise as much as you can. I also have noticed that during my cycle I will stall.

NEED help reviving my motivation
staceyhearn79 replied to Ricksgal_1996's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Its been 6 months since my surgery at 1st I had lost I believe 23 lbs than I stopped I even gained some back. I was going crazy trying to figure out what was I doing wrong. Than I had remembered before I had surgery I read a forum on here pretty much the same topic and someone asked her was she taking measurements also. So before surgery I did take measurements so I took more and I had lost 4 inches around my waist already I had lost some all over. So I didn't feel so bad because I actually was doing something. Ive been on top of my fills ive even had an unfill because I was too full. I wont say how much Fluid I have because everyone is different I don't want anyone to think that's how much they need to have but I will say im in my green zone and loose at least 2lbs a week. ive lost 55lbs and 9inches around just my waist. Im not working myself exercising either I actually haven't joined the gym yet. I just do your basic everyday stuff I do have 5 kiddos an a husband to keep me busy an take care of 2 babies as well when I go somewhere I just park further away so I have to walk a bit. I do hear complaints about it often lol that's ok though a lil walking wont hurt. . So I would say get you a measuring tape if you haven't already and every couple weeks take measurements pick 1 day of the week as your weigh in day. stay on top of your fills! Don't drink your calories and do drink lots of water! Stay positive YOU WILL reach your goals!!!! -
Try cooking a Cornish hen in a crockpot with some hidden valley ranch powder and olive oil on low for 5-6 hours and it falls off the bone. U can add veggies too like broccoli and califlower. Take it easy on the ranch because of the sodium. Make sure u peel off the skin before eating. It's good and simple.

Please tell me this is not abnormal
James Marusek replied to tkauhi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Constipation can become a problem after surgery. I have found that eating an apple each night prior to bedtime cures this for me. But you must eat the skin of the apple. Many individuals report hitting stalls during their weight loss. Some individuals even gain weight temporarily. Sometimes this might be associated with Water retention. Some people recommend only weighing yourself once per week at the same time of the day to avoid the stress. -
DEE DEE, I don't know if this will help you with people, but this is what I had to do. First I will tell you that close friends and family will be the ones with problems about this. My brother had a fit, and so did my sisters. My brother is a big dude, abour 425?? My older sis is a normal weight and my little sis was skinny and now has gained 50 pounds, she quite smoking. It is a jealousy thing, and or they don't want you to change. Friends like fat chicks to be around the, it makes them skinnier. So if you lose the weight, what will they do!! I am down from 351 to about 240 right now and I have only had my band on since April 15,2005. It has been so fun to watch my hubby, especially when I needed new undies. Not to be sexy, but so they would quite falling down in my pants when I was shopping!!! I am trying to limit new clothes, because I still Have 90 pounds to go. I hope to have a tummy tuck when I lose another 50 pounds and they say they will remove alot of fat and skin, so I will be at goal after that, I hope!!! Your life will change and tell people who are not supportive to "BITE ME" This is for you, not for them. I will say I have been married for almost 30 years, and and the honeymoon is starting all over again....WAHOOOO

Yep, all of that is normal. I still don't have regular bowel movements (I'm about 5 weeks post-op). I don't know your nationality; I'm Black and my scars are healed but darker than the rest of my skin. I didn't think my port scar was ever going to look normal, but I'm sure the line will fade and look great later. I bought Vitamin E and put it on my scars daily (be sure to wait until they're closed). I think it took 3 -4 weeks for them to heal. Good luck!

Sultana ~ I can totally understand what you are saying. I will be banded on November 25th and there are a lot of things that are running through my mind........a lot of what - if's. But then I think of all the diets that I have tried and failed and then I realize by being banded I have nothing to loose trying this......but weight. For every one person that you hear that isn't loosing weight there are 5 more that are. Granted, the weight loss is slow but I would rather loose it slow and HEALTHY then to do it fast and become sick. I am 5'5 and weight 303 and if I loose 5 pounds in a month then that is 5 lbs that I don't have and are gone forever!!! As long as you follow the rules you too will loose weight!!! Don't worry about that part cause it WILL work for you. But if you aren't sure of it then I would say (and this is my opinion) don't do it until YOU feel confident in your decision.

Sounds like you've got it covered with the echo and EKG I'm doing well. I'm down a total of 103, 43 since surgery. My old 5X and some 6X clothes are hanging on me. Even my underwear is baggy and my bras are loose! My mother had gotten me a new 5X outfit for Christmas, and I asked her to return it for a smaller size, since I knew I wouldn't be in them for long. She mailed the replacements in a 3X last week. I tried them on - a pair of black knit pants and a long sleeve cotton knit sweater. They actually almost fit! A little more snug than I would like to wear them comfortably, but since my stomach isn't as lumpy, they were presentable! Too bad the weather is now too warm to wear them, and by the time it's cold enough for them again, I will (hopefully) be out of the X's altogether! Hope things go well for you!

The 19th makes a month for me and I have lost 10 lbs.post op. I dont do carbs every day...I am trying to get all my protein in and water! I have had some carbs and very little sugar. They do matter probably..either way though I AM A LITTLE BUMMED ABOUT LOOSING SO SLOW!

Congradulations, you will soon become a loser like me! I do feel the port. If I bend backwards you can actually see the port stick out from under my skin. Some people don't feel it at all. I think it just depends on how deep the doctor places the port. But its not something that bothers me. Good Luck only 8 days left. Don't worry the butterflies will start to set in 7 days from now. June 2013 sleevers, eating more?
Beach Lover replied to kme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved June 7th and most of the time I am still limited to 4 ounces and sometimes if I luck out I can get 6 ounces in. I think during the holidays if we are eating things we don't normally partake in we have a tendency to think we ate far more than we actually did just from the guilt of it all. However, I also think we can handle sliders quite efficiently especially if we have a beverage with it. I did pretty good during the holidays..........I did let loose on New Year's Eve though!! Congratulations on the 96 pounds!! -
Thanks guys I will hold on and go back to the basics I hv increased exercise n hope to loose big
