  1. Had a bit of a trying week. I work in Elections and Tuesday was school elections and they brought in all this not so good for you food. So of course I had to have some. Although I did not do as bad as I would have in the past and I think the scale will show that when I weigh myself tomorrow. If I gained a pound this week oh well I won't fret because I know it'll come off next week.

That's alot of weight you've lost so far. How awesome is that. Your liquid diet will be easier. By next week you won't be wanting to kill people and being around food will be easier for you. You will see that weight dropping off you and it will keep you focused on your goal!

  2. Hi there, I just want to say that you are my new inspiration! You and I started at the same weight, well a one pound difference, and you've reaffirmed the fact to me that this is all worth it. I'm being banded in less than 2 weeks, and all I can say is thank you so much for posting your photos and everything, because I was truly inspired! Congrats to you!

  3. So I have my egd tomorrow...im excited but nervous its one step closer to my surgery day...i will start liquads in a couple weeks..did you always feel hungary during that?

  4. My fill went fine I had no pain I was shock. Lost 2 more pounds will continue to boost up my walking from 1 mile to 2 mile 4 days a week. Write back when you get a chance.

  5. Hmm..I would be bummed too! BUT let's look at it this way. You lost. Even though it was just a pound. Are you measuring yourself? maybe you lost inches and not pounds. Also, maybe your body just needs MORE calories to lose weight. I read on here all of the time that if you go too low, your body holds on. I read a good article on the home page about weight loss plateus, if you cant find it I posted in on my blog last week I think. Dont give up! You will get there! Drink your water, get your protein, move....it has to happen.

  6. Im in need of some cheering up i only lost one pound since my fill and it is very dishearting as part of that week i was on liquids!!!! My body must just hate me right now...LOL Thanks for listening just having my own pitty party!haha

  7. Hello babydoll1, things are going good. I went to my 2 week check up on the 5th. I have my first fill next month on the 9th. I started my soft foods on that day also for four days. So on Mothers Day I can have reg. foods. My doctor said to eat slow and to take small bites. How is the weight loss going for you?

  8. K-I"m so glad you had a good meet today. I liked them all. I get to do a sleep study also, it was one of the things not required, but Anne thought it would be beneficial for me, so I'll do it. I don't have a firm date, but I'm gunning for June 22nd. I have some vacation travel in June and this will work out well for me. If we don't meet up sooner, I'll see you at the June support group. have a great rest of the week and I'll be in touch. Kathi

  9. helloooo ;) I had my second fill yesterday and would you believe despite my insistance the Dr only gave me 1cc! That wasn't even close to enough. All up i now have 3'1/2cc. So i went home and had a yogurt with ease and then i had a normal dinner. Still no restriction.... ho hum. I have only lost 26lbs :( And i tried to explain to the Dr i know what restriction feels like because i had it for 2 weeks after my op. So now i have to wait another two weeks to get another 1 cc. To me it just feels like it is holding up my weight loss going sooo slow in fills. I'm guessing you will have noticed a lot of restriction considering you were feeling some b4 your first fill. I am worried i will never feel restriction.

Congrats on ur great weight loss... you go girl, your a shining example of how this band can work and doing every thing right.

    luv Trace.xx

  10. Just wanted to drop by and say keep up the awesome work! You look great, and you seem really determined. I'm getting banded in 2 weeks, and finding this website has been so helpful because I get to the see the progress everyone is making. Inspirational! :)

  11. pre-op went fine. But, the week before the surgery my stepfather passed away and we had to race down to Arkansas for the funeral. We had to cancel the primary doctors surgical clearance appt and the apt scheduler at my surgeon just about lost her mind. She was very uncaring and let me know that she did not appreciate having to reschedule a dr appt. I had a great surgeon and most of the staff has been friendly but my experience with her has me thinking about changing practices for my follow up. She has always been a little rude. I have heard her talking inappropriately about other pts. Saying that they call and ask too many questions and are non compliant with the program. My surgery went very well and I am home. I will be thinking about you tommorow. Take care of yourself today. I treated myself to a pedicure (with out polish) the day before and it was a nice treat. have gas x and plenty of jello and pudding on hand. I will say a prayer for your speedy recovery.

  12. Hi Meredith! Yes I am...im a newbie cosmo...I just graduated april 10th...and yes it looks like we will be going through this together. My surgery is scheduled for june 10th. I will be starting my liquid diet in a couple weeks. How long have you been a stylist?

  13. Congrats on your journey, this has been one of the best decessions that I have made. The gas pains that I had in my shoulders was bad but ok. I was down 20 pounds before my surgery. I don't know how much more I have lost, I go to the doctors tomorrow for my 2 weeks check up. Keep in touch.

  14. Hi Kathy! I've been on real food since my post-op visit 2 weeks ago.

Broth- I used Leana's (voiceomt2002) recipes for that and the soups I made. I've made several other of her recipes as well. She's writing a cookbook now!! have fun.

  15. Good luck tomorrow!!! I am still a little over a week out ... Liquid diet is going well... I try to stay busy and exercise when I feel I want to eat... I def know the difference now from wanting to eat and needing to eat. Nice to hear from you!!! Once again good luck tomorrow. Talk to you soon ...

  16. Hey I cant wait till then. I am on 5 Slim Fast High Protein a day and then a 200 calorie meal at night for 2 weeks b4. Let me tell you they are not good all or I dont like them. I got one to try today and its nasty but its only for two weeks I can do it..I am so excited so I think I will b able to handle it..Where are you having yours done..did your dr tell you how much you could lose in a year bc mine was not very informative about that he just said about half ur extra weight but everyone i have seen has lost more so i was just wondering what yours said

  17. It went really well! I was in pain for about four days, but I'm feeling much better now. My post OP diet is/was very flexible, so I was eating mushies and soft foods three days out with no problem. My doctor says I can start easing into a normal diet now, but I'm taking things slow. (: I've lost 9 pounds since Monday, and I hope to keep losing!

    How did yours go?

  18. Lol, that sucks that you might be getting a reaction from the bandages, maybe you should ring your nurse/surgeon and tell them? Yeah I'm totally over liquids at the moment, mainly because I miss chewing lol, I'm due to start mushies either today or tomorrow not entirely sure but a bit worried about how that will go. Dunno how much I've lost yet but I've noticed the back fat is slowly reducing (disghusting I know lol) and one of my multiple chins is disappearing as well which is fricken awesome lol. I wasn't put on any protein shakes, I guess it's just more common in the states but I've noticed my hair feels a little thinner so I might have to find something for that. Other than that pretty good 2 weeks out, incisions are still pink and now they've got this weird bubble thing under the surface, hard to explain but I've been sticking on stuff to help them heal so hopefully that'll work =)

  19. Hey taylor52, That's really exciting, no need to be worried though, sure it's a little nerve wrecking but you'll be fine. I have had really good results so far I hit a plateu once, but that's normal. I would deffinatly say that you should be way under 200 by then! I started with a BMI of 37 and a wt. of 213, I loose about 2-3lbs a week generally. So far I've lost 48lbs in 4 mo. Hope to loose 35 more lbs. If you have any other ?'s Keep me posted and goodluck!

  20. I am working with Dr. Patchings and still do not have a date because I have not gottent the five day a week exercise down yet. By my next visit I will be able to say I have been doing the exercise as required and I actually like it. \

As you have been banded by Dr. patchings I would like to add you as a friend so I can follow how things are going with another patient of his.

  21. First msg. dropped, Yeah over the hump again, I do believe that you will see even more loss after June fill, are the ml's on your ticker the same as cc's? I have a 10cc band and first fill was 4cc second was 1.75cc so now at 5.75cc total, 3rd scheduled for June 15, plateaus are scary, just came through 3 week one also, so down 3lbs today, you just know it will continue for a while if we eat healthy, cause a few times in there I was eating bunch of junk again, not quantity but real bad food choices! I am just speaking this into your life that by the time you hit your 2 year bandiversary you will be at your goal weight, don't doubt it!!!! Have fun on fill trip! Nancy

  22. Hi Rachael - thanks for making me your friend! As I said on the chat line I'm just all new to this and am just finding my way around this forum. So how has it been for you? I'm having John Dunn next week - eek! Would love to know how much you've lost - whats been the hardest/easiest? Thanks Gail

  23. Hi there.. I see you had surgery not to long ago! How are you doing? I am Mary Anne and I am just waiting on incs to pre appove and then I can take that next step... Feels like its taking forever.. kinda depressing just waiting.. I have started wotking about 30 min a day for 5 days a week.. I am worried about my arm fat hanging around so I lift weights to,,, do you have any adive for pre and post op

  24. I definitely understand my gas just passed over the last couple of days... It just lingered in my chest and my left shoulder still causes pain! All I can say right now it keep taking your pain meds b/c I am a pretty strong person but I took my pain med for about three days especially before I went to bed! I also stayed in the hotel the next night and just prompted myself up on the pills for the first two nights... then I started sleeping on my right side and that helps also. I also found some liquid Tylenol at wal-mart. The biggest thing I'm having trouble with is HUNGER!! I'm always hungry... I started the day of surgery at 198 and I'm down to 193 and I haven't weighed in the last couple of days either... I lose about 1-2 lbs a day... That's good but I just can't feel hungry. Like right now I just feel like I'm trying to get all my protein in so I'm living off of protein shakes. YUCK! I just started runny mash potatoes last night and was in heaven!!

  25. Hi Kim

Well its taken a week but I feel great. I went for my 1 week postop and I lost 18lbs!!!!!! The food is starting to gross me out and I stare at people eat like a starving child but the weight loss is worth it.

Any word from your insurance? I ended up calling myself to find out, why don't you try that.

Good luck with it and let me know.
