DonnaMP got a reaction from ThinDolphin3 in How Many Have Fell Off The Lap Band Wagon??????
I think every banded person has fallen off. I'm 18 months out, have regained 8 lbs in the last 2 months and ya know what? Thats ok...I'm banded, not dead. Junk food is always going to be around, I just have to find a way to deal with, and avoidance isn't the way. Everything in moderation. Life DOES get in the way. Jobs go to crap, new bosses are jerks, no time for the gym, etc etc etc. Give yourself a break and just remember that each day you wake up is a do-over. I'll get my 8 lbs off and you'll get yours off.

1cc is practically nothing. Its not at all unusual to have no restriction. Call your dr and tell them that you're eating everything not nailed down and I bet they can get you in sooner You need a fill and you need to be firm about it. After all, they work for YOU not the other way around. You're doing great Keep it up

Everything about the band is NOT all roses and puppies. There are negative things about as most people find out after banding. LOTS of people go into surgery not having a clue about how it works, how they're gonna feel after surgery and have no real concept of what they're gonna feel like afterwards. If a post seems negative simply don't read it, but the forums are here for everyone, negative and positive alike. If the header of the post seems negative, just bypass it. We're all entitled to have a place to vent about the band.

I don't consider myself "sucessful" with this yet, even though I've lost 105 lbs. Struggling right now to lose the last 50. I don't really care about what summer dresses I can fit in...I just want to be around long enough to see my kids and grandkids raised. I have a lot of living left to do. Never had a diagnosis of HTN, diabetes or high cholesterol but I figured it was just a matter of time. Sometimes I read these posts and everyone is so upbeat and looking forward to surgery then in a few weeks they're saying "oh god what have i done...it hurts...i'm starving"...and I did the same thing. I wasn't prepared for what *really* happens after you get the surgery. If you're considering the surgery, please do yourself a favor and talk to people who have had it and find out the cons as well as the pros. Most people will still get the surgery, just make sure you get the one thats right for you. All surgeries are just a tool to help, you have to be willing to work the tool.

Don't know about anyone else but I didn't have the sheer willpower to simply do it on my own. The pre-op diet was basically "forced"...I knew I had no choice but to do it. I'm still struggling with the band and I've over a year out. Some days I hate the thing. It works, I've lost 105 lbs...the first 100 is pretty easy even with no exercise at all. Now...I'm fighting for every ounce lost. If I could have done it on my own, I would've been sucessful on one of the bazillion times I tried. For me, I need that gut wrenching pain in the center of my chest when I've taken one bite too much.

First off, I was banded in Oct 2010 and have lost 105lbs so compare me to you and you're winning. This isn't a race. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was your ass. Or mine. Or anyone else's thats battling the bulge. It took me over a year to understand the head games that go along with the band. First, you're not gonna hit restriction at the same time everyone else does. It took me 6cc's in a 10cc band to get any. I hear people say "oh when i get restriction i won't ever be hungry again"...wrong. Nothing about the band is gonna turn off feeling hungry. Its not going to stop your stomach from growling. Its just a tool, and its a tool that you have to work, and you ARE working it. I've managed to lose and haven't done crap really to lose. I eat what I want, when I want as long as I stay around 1000 calories a day. You have to have fuel to burn fat. Mix things up...one day have more calories then the next day, drop it down by a few hundred. When your body gets used to getting the same calories a day it gets stagnant. Also...relax. You're banded, not dead. You're doing great so far and you'll continue to do great. For me, because I'm not dead, and because I'm a food addict, I had to learn to control the food, not let the food control me. You're still letting food control you. Because you're always hungry, the food is controlling you and you're pretty miserable sounds like. When I want ice cream, I eat it. I have a scoop not a whole bowl. I don't deny myself. Whatever I want...I eat. in moderation. Thats the key...everything in moderation. You have to stop focusing on that "can't haves" and realize that you can have EVERYTHING just in moderation. I know there's gonna be people that post against me...thats ok each to their own. This is my journey. But you're really doing well

The chest pain is most likely from gas. Take gas-x strips, and walk walk walk. Try doing windmills with your arms as well. And 10 lbs is great.

Most people think that getting the band will automatically take away your appetite and your cravings. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The band is to teach us control. I haven't changed much at all what I eat. There are some things that I physically can't eat because they get stuck but if I want something sweet I have it. Avoiding the "bad" foods doesn't teach you anything. Bad foods are never, ever gonna go away. You have to learn how to have a handful of cheetos instead of 1/2 a bag. Until you get 4-5 fills you're in bandster hell and will be miserable I'm 14 months out, down 102 lbs and its hard...been there, done that. You can do this. You don't have to deny yourself...just control yourself.
